Reya’s body moved like a blur. Her speed left only after images behind as she cursed about what had just happened.
(Damn that bitch. Who would have thought there would actually be someone in the 4th stage. How many can there be in this shithole of a kingdom and I end up facing off against one? It seems though that she was the strongest of that city, otherwise, others should have made themselves known with all of the ruckuses.)
Reya thought about the woman’s attacks and grew increasingly enraged.
(Her wind blades are not only fast but they can tear my body apart like I’m made of mud and that trident, I couldn’t even sense it’s movement at all.)
She had just delivered her message to Kazuki and when she was prepared to leave, she was attacked out of nowhere by some blonde woman.
(No matter, I’ve already fulfilled my purpose there. Now I’ll return to those little humans. I’ll bring one or two to the meeting spot, any more then that, and things may become a mess. In that case, should I go ahead and kill the ones I don’t need or just let them go. First I’ll need to determine who is most important to Kazuki. The red-haired one seems like the most profitable choice but who else should I take?)
Reya looked at the terrible state her body was in and shook away all useless thoughts.
(Hmph, I’ll just figure it out when the time comes. For now, I’d better go a bit out of the way in case I’m being followed. I’ll circle around the mountain before I head to the cave.)
—————————————————————————-
Abura stood guard in front of a large rock face. It had been carved out by Reya and was placed in front of the entrance of the cave sealing it shut. Asuna, Sam, Shin, Danny, and Kimi were trapped in a world of darkness. Even with their enhanced senses, they still couldn’t make out anything in this pitch-black environment. Only by relying on their ears were they able to locate a small source of water that flowed inside the cave. Besides that though, they had nothing else but each other’s company and time.
Sitting in a small circle, Shin was the first one to bark up.
“This sucks.”
No one responded.
*Haaa*
“Does anyone want to play a game? I know a few, it’ll at least help pass the time.”
Once more no one said a word.
“Seriously, no one will even speak. So we’re just gonna sit here in silence and ignore one another.”
Asuna hissed at him as she spoke.
“You think nows the time to be playing games. Even now you find no sense of urgency, grow up!”
“You want me to grow up, well I want you to stop being a piece of shit towards me but we all know you’ll never pull back. Always fangs out for me when all I’ve done is try to lighten the mood. Its no wonder why he chose Nunully over you.”
Asuna felt something within her snap and she leaped at Shin. Shin, though he couldn’t see with his eyes, he could easily sense the flow of air in the cave and could sense where Asuna was coming from. He only took a small sidestep out f the way, dodging Asuna’s tackle entirely.
Asuna tripped over something and crashed into the ground.
“Hahaha, what’s wrong, did I touch upon a sore spot? guess the truth hurts.”
*RAAAAAA!*
Asuna screamed at the top of her lungs. She felt some small stones on the ground around her and swiftly scooped them up before whipping her wrist forward and shotgunning them out in the direction Shin’s voice had come from.
Shin could sense these as well and easily avoided them.
“Oh, poor little Asuna, can’t have the guy she wants so she constantly strikes out at those around her to vent her frustrations. Why don’t you cry about it.”
Asuna’s anger was boiling over and all she wanted to do was pummel Shin but there she couldn’t see him.
Just as she thought about that…
*Shine*
A small orb of light floated in the center of the cave. Large beads of sweat poured from Kimi’s forehead as she concentrated to her utmost to keep this light illuminated. Gritting her teeth, venom came from her mouth.
“Kick his cocky ass!”
As soon as Asuna heard this, there was no reason to hold back. She stretched out her arm and yelled.
“LOCK!”
Shin actually got scared for a moment but after a second he felt no magical restraint and he sighed in relief before a cocky grin hung on his face once more.
“Did you forget, you can’t use your powers without a magic tool. Only if you pour in a vast amount of power as well as concentrate to your fullest would you be able to use magic without a tool? Look at Kimi, she’s giving it her all just to maintain that tiny orb of light. Figures though, Asuna use her head before her fist, in what world, certainly not this one.”
Asuna’s eyes went wide before she saw more stones on the ground. She ran forward at her top speed.
“You think I need my power to be one bastard!? Try this!”
As she ran, she scooped several more rocks from the ground and launched them towards Shin’s left side. Shin grinned and stepped toward his right. Asuna appeared in front of him and swung a right hook at his ribs. Shin stepped even further to his right and started to move to Asuna’s back. That’s when Asuna quickly pulled her right hook back. Flexing her hips she pivoted off her left foot and spun. Her right foot came racing behind her as she spun.
Shin was too confident and focused on her fist and didn’t see her heel coming straight toward his face.
*Thud*
Shin was hit directly in the face and was knocked back into the cave wall.
(Chance!)
Asuna continued to spin around until she was facing Shin head on again. She kicked off the ground before Shin could regain his balance and tackled him into the wall.
*Guh!*
Shin had the wind knocked out of him as both his stomach and back were compressed due to the impact Asuna delivered to him.
Asuna’s fists began to hammer into Shin’s left and right side. One time, two, 10, 15 times. After her 16th punch, Shin finally retaliated. His fist came together as though he were praying to the heavens but in actuality, he simply made a sledgehammer with his hand sand brought them down like so.
*Bam!*
An echo filled the cave, as Shin’s hand’s landed upon Asuna’s back. Asuna lost her momentum right away and fell down. Shin was fast though and before she fell completely to the ground his left knee came up and hit her in the face. Asuna was lifted into the air as blood sprayed from her now broken nose.
Both Kimi and Danny yelled out at once in concern.
“ASUNA!”
Asuna wasn’t out though. She twisted her body in mid-air and landed a little unsteady on her feet.
She stared at Shin with maddening eyes. Danny felt he should intervene but then he looked at Sam.
(If Sam’s not stepping in then I probably shouldn’t either. Still, I can’t just say nothing.)
“You two should stop now. This doesn’t need to go any further. We all can see that you’re both really mad but like earlier, you said now’s not the time for games…Well, it’s definitely not the time for fighting each other. we have to esca…”
Asuna and Shin both screamed at Danny sending echoes throughout this small cave.
“SHUT IT!”
“SILENCE!”
Danny almost fell backward but he said nothing else. Kimi as well saw blood leaking and running down Asuna’s face and she became worried.
“Asu…”
Sam quickly grabbed her arm and shook his head. With a small whisper, he told her.
“Let them fight. They need this.”
“I know I helped instigate this but They’re both going too far. They even drew blood. We can’t let them do this, not now.”
“No. It’s because of everything that’s happened between us all that they need to do this, especially right now.”
Kimi didn’t agree with Sam and was going to extinguish her light when Sam squeezed her arm tighter.
“Do not put out your light…Please, please let them do this.”
Kimi bit her lip but finally, she nodded and poured more magic into her small orb. Exhaustion was not far away but she decided to listen to Sam. Even if she didn’t think it was right, she believed in Sam and kept her light going.
Shin felt blood running down his mouth. Running his tongue inside his mouth he felt a large cut and wondered when it had happened.
*Ptt*
Spitting some blood on the ground he wiped the excess from his chin with a sleeve.
“Looks like we get to fight for a bit longer. Now that no one is going to stop us, come at me.”
Asuna ripped off a bit of her shirt and wiped her blood-soaked face with it, causing it to become soaked. She grinned at Shin, an indescribable feeling welling up within her.
“I was going to continue whether they tried to stop me or not.”
Shin and Asuna both chuckled after she said that before they both went quiet and stared at each other for a long moment.
(Let see how long you’ll keep joking around, you prick.)
(She’s about to make her move. Doesn’t matter, I’ll dodge it with ease.)
Danny looked at the two and couldn’t stand the tension.
“Guys lets just sto…”
As soon as he began to speak, Asuna made the first move. The blood-soaked cloth in her hand was thrown at Shin’s face and Shin tilted his head slightly. The two took only a few steps before they met face to face and a brawl between the two was unleashed.
What none of them new though, was just outside the cave, something began to flash within Abura’s crimson eyes.
(DEVOUR!)
