Kai stood in front of Kazuki and asked.
“Are you gonna get started now or what?”
“Hmm.”
“Your Mage core, you entered this place so you could make a new one right. Time may move slower in here but that doesn’t mean it’s infinite. You need to get started before that fatty out there wakes up. I don’t know what would happen if you were interrupted while trying to make a Mage core. It’s best you get to it right away.”
Kazuki knew his older brother was right but he didn’t feel right just leaving his brother again.
“But you…”
“If your worried about me then don’t be. I’m already…used to isolation. Just hurry up. Now that you can come and go in here we’ll have plenty of time to catch up later.”
Kazuki caught the sadness that slipped out briefly and he felt a sense of guilt deep within but his brother was right. Now that Kazuki could come and go in this weird place, he and Kai would have plenty of time later on to chat.
Kazuki was just about to leave and awaken when a frightening thought occurred to him.
“Kai, this is a two-way street, right? I can see you and you can see me in this place but what about when you are in Fera’s soul world? Isn’t that dangerous?”
Kai chuckled lightly. he then disappeared into thin air. His voice echoed out as it came from seemingly everywhere and nowhere.
“Were she to find me, with her power I definitely would truly no longer exist. She could wipe me out with a slight thought but I’ve learned a few things over the years about these soul worlds that even she doesn’t know. As long as I hide…”
Kai reappeared behind Kazuki like a ghost and whispered in his ear.
“She’ll never know of my existence.”
Kazuki jumped and almost yelped. He turned around quickly and rubbed his ear as though it were itchy. His brother’s voice right in his ear all of the sudden creeped him the hell out.
“What the hell! Don’t do that!”
Kai laughed and shrugged his shoulders.
“Sorry I can’t promise that. Being in here by myself for so long is boring as dogs balls. Messing with you is too much fun.”
Kazuki was feeling a little aggravated by his brother but for some reason, he didn’t hate it. It brought back fond memories.
“Are you sure your safe from Fera?”
Kai shrugged his shoulders again.
“I’ve been dodging her gaze for years now. Whenever she grows too curious, I simply take a walk over here, well not an actual walk but you get what I mean. For some reason, she can’t look over here, the same way I suspect you can’t take a look at what she’s up to. Must be because you two are alive or something. Seems I’m the only special one here, hahaha.”
Kazuki smiled grimly. Kai appeared by his side and punched him on the back of the head.
“Little dummy, don’t show me that face. It won’t bring me back to life any more than you standing around in here farting around. What I’m trying to say…hmm, you have work to do. You want to help me, you want to make me feel better, then hurry up and get strong. Though, looking at your current rate of progress I can tell it’s gonna take a long ass time for you to ever be strong enough to take revenge for either of us.”
“How strong do you think I need to be. Last I checked Fera was only…”
Kai cut him off and spoke over him.
“Stop right there. Any preconceived notions you had about Fera just throw them away now. When she gained our Mage cores, her comprehension and martial prowess soared upward like a reborn Pheonix. If you want to even challenge her then you need to at least be a 7th stage Mage. Below that and don’t even dream of even standing in her presence because you will not win.”
Kai’s words made every hair on Kazuki’s body stand up as he realized what he meant.
“Fera…She’s…She’s already at the 7th stage?”
Kai crossed his arms over his chest and nodded sternly.
“Not only that, every day she inches closer and closer to the boundary of the 8th stage. I’ve observed her for a while now, as well as you and your surroundings. That Garn who has you on the run, the one famous as the supposed strongest in all of the Feya continent. He would be demolished by our sister with a wave of her hand. Not only her though, but our sister has also amassed a legion of those Azirian’s that everyone’s afraid of. Many of them have similar strength to 3rd stage Mages but she even has many that are around Reya’s strength. With that alone, she could easily take the Feya continent if she wanted but that doesn’t even count the generals serving directly beneath her. They themselves have strength on a similar level to 5th and 6th stage Mages.”
Kazuki couldn’t believe it. That bratty terror of a sister of his was actually a powerful being. If she wasn’t the strongest in the world then she was damn near close.
Kai pat Kazuki on the shoulder.
“She’s strong, terrifyingly so. In the end, its best you give up and go live a hermits life in the mountains like a little coward bitch, right.”
Kazuki knew what Kai was doing, still, it caused a well of anger to boil up from within him. His gaze met Kai’s and a fire burned in his eyes. Kai smirked at him.
“Right, there’s no way my baby brother would give up. Who the fuck cares how strong she is, how big an army she has. You’ll still destroy her, right brother?”
“Without question. I don’t care how long it takes, her and that bitch will die!”
Kai slapped his brother on the back hard, causing Kazuki to wince in pain.
“Of course you would say that. Were I alive, I’d say the same shit. We truly are brothers. Now that we’ve had a nice little chat and you know what to do, how about you stop wasting your time in here and go handle your business before that fatty awakens and drags your ass back to Muteki and his goons.”
Kazuki smiled at his brother before he sat down. Kai vanished into thin air before his voice echoed out.
“Hurry up and go. Let me see what making a Mage core out of scratch is like. Let’s just hope whatever happens it doesn’t explode and shatter your soul to the four corners. Damn would that suck.”
Kazuki rolled his eyes at his brother’s last few words before he shut his eyes completely and focused. The next moment his eyes snapped open. Once more he was sitting on the icy lake. A howling of cold wind blew in his ears and his breath misted after each exhale. His mind was back in the real world.
He didn’t know how much time had actually passed but if he were to guess, compared to the last time he was forcibly awakened from Zetsu’s soul attack. It was probably only a few seconds though he couldn’t be sure. Looking over to the side, Abura’s fat body was still unconscious floating in the water. His breath was slow and steady but besides that, the fat turd seemed to be fine.
(Why isn’t he freezing, is his fat keeping him warm?)
Kazuki shook that thought away and focused on what he was doing. Grabbing the ingredients, he laid them out all in front of him. Taking a deep breath he calmed his nervous heart down before he finally began. His hands flashed in front of him as though he were a certain knuckleheaded ninja from one of his favorite shows back on Earth.
His hands bent as though he had no bones and his fingers started to twist at odd angles. A certain energy began to build and collect near his hands. At first, it felt slightly warm but soon enough it was hot before it felt like his hands had been submerged in boiling oil. Large beads of sweat poured from his forehead and soaked his shirt due to the heat building around him. Finally, when he could no longer take it, a golden symbol formed in the air and floated in front of him.
It was the ancient language that represented magic. If one were to read out the symbol, it would represent the element of fire.
Kazuki released a heavy breath but he dared not lose focus. With a flick of his wrist, he pointed two fingers at the 2nd tier Magic Beast core and commanded it forth.
“Go!”
The symbol as though it heard his order shot toward the Magic Beast core and slammed into it. As soon as it landed upon the Magic Beast core, the core itself began to shake and tremble. Kazuki had to grab it or it dared to roll away and possibly fall into the open hole in the frozen lake. It felt like it took him forever to get this Mage core, were he to lose it now, he might as well throw himself into the frozen waters and say fuck it.
Kazuki held onto the shaking core. He didn’t need another sense to tell right away what was happening inside. The soul fragment of the beast within did not like when it’s home was being disturbed but Kazuki had no other choice. Every now and again, tiny sparks and embers would fire out of the small orb. The soul fragment inside was literally fighting back, trying to remove the element of fire.
Kazuki thought this would happen and began to circulate his ki. With a good amount built up, he extended it outward and wrapped it around the Magic Beast core as though it were a layer of skin or a bubble. Kazuki watched on as sparks and heat were being pushed out of the orb in his hands only for the ki layer surrounding it to rebound it and force the element of fire back in.
The struggle inside seemed to grow fiercer because of this but because Kazuki’s ki surrounded it, the effects on the outside were less apparent. Kazuki added more ki and the layer increased in strength. Now the fire element couldn’t be pushed out even if the soul fragment from the beast inside was stronger. A few moments later and the reactions from the Magic Beast core grew weaker and weaker until finally, they were no more.
Kazuki sighed in relief before slowly putting the orb down next to him.
*Haaa*
(So far so good.)
He then started to flash more ancient hand symbols.
(Two more to go and then we start on the hard shit.)
