Asuna reached into the air and gripped at it.
“LOCK!”
Triska’s trident froze just inches away from Sam’s back and Asuna fell down, sweat fell from her fast constantly and she released heavy breaths.
“Thank god, I stopped it.”
Sam felt a cold chill run down his back but Shin’s strike upon Reya snapped him out of it. He once more raised his hammer and struck down at Reya. The combined attack from the two was slowly but surely hacking away at her defenses.
Sam didn’t even turn around and continued in on Reya. Triska grew infuriated.
“You dare ignore me!”
She leaped into the air and the trident could no longer be stalled in space as it flew up to meet her. Catching it in mid-air, a torrent of wind gathered behind Triska and gave her a push boosting her decent at Sam and Shin.
*Shwaa shwaa chch*
Several spears of ice flew up to intercept Triska but with a spin of her trident, she knocked Nunully’s spears away like child’s play.
Kazuki filled his body with ki and sprang forth. Throwing the hilt of his sword at Triska, she knocked that away again as well. Kazuki formed over a dozen fireballs that hovered over his hand.
(These are hot enough but maybe they can distract her just long enough.)
Kazuki launched all of the fireballs at once and they came raining down on top of Triska. They really were nothing to her and she knocked them away like plain rocks. The fireballs landing in the surrounding area and exploded like hand grenades all around. People from both sides were wrapped up in it and were injured. The unfortunate ones died on impact.
Kazuki had no time to feel guilt and continued to rush over. Both of his hands becoming wrapped in blue flames. His concentration split between what was in front of him and focusing on healing his shoulder. He couldn’t heal it completely in this short time but he didn’t need to. He needs to just be able to move it. The pain he would deal with.
Kazuki expected his regular fireballs to at least slow Triska for a moment but they did little to slow her. The distance to her was not one he could cover before she got to the others.
“SAM! SHIN! LOOK OUT!!”
Shin and Sam though ignored Kazuki’s warning and continued to destroy Reya’s ever-forming spikes. Who could blame them? Right now they were in a war of attrition. As long as they hacked away at Reya’s spikes she couldn’t focus on regenerating her limbs or rather she simply had no time to. As long as they didn’t let up, they knew they could get through and finish her but now Triska was upon them.
Kazuki glanced back at Asuna but she was already huffing and puffing. Tsura and Mei were both knocked out.
Kimi fired a beam of light but because she was behind Triska’s diving form she only left a small mark on her back. Nunully couldn’t throw any more spears as Triska was now far too close to Sam and Shin and she was afraid of hitting them. She aimed behind them and a large wall formed at their backs, between them and Triska.
Triska smirked and pierced through the wall with her trident and continued toward Sam’s back with full force.
Sam raised his hammer and he roared out at the top of his lungs.
“KIMI!!*
Kimi aimed past Triska and fired her beam of light.
Her light moved faster than Triska ever could and aimed for a specific spot. Triska wasn’t worried in the least bit. With Kimi’s power coming from behind her, there was no way it could harm her or so she thought. Triska felt the beam coming close to her and ignored it but found it curious as it passed her.
(Dumb girl, you can’t even hit me and I’m even moving in a straight line.)
Triska was chuckled inwardly but this was her mistake. The beam of light shot past Triska and hit Sam’s hammer that he had held up. It wasn’t finished though. Hitting Sam’s hammer precisely, the light did what it does off of reflecting surfaces and bounced off of his hammer and straight back into Triska’s eyes. She had no time to block and took the light on directly.
Her eyes slammed shut from the pain and her movements paused for only a fraction but this was exactly what Shin and Sam were hoping for. The two turned on her at this exact moment and went all out with a maddening scream.
“VIPER WHIP!!!!”
“AHHHHHHHH!!”
Shin launched his Viper Whip and repeatedly kicked out 4 times at this moment. 12 blades of wind Landed upon Triska’s chest all at once. The first four did nothing but the continued pressure stacked the damage and a small cut formed. Then her skin tore a bit and a cut several inches formed followed by a large gash. It still didn’t stop. Blood hushed out and Sam’s blows had yet to land.
*BANG BANG CLANG!*
Her body was like metal. Each of Sam’s blows would normally have done nothing but because Shin already opened up a wound on her chest. His hammer met bone directly and a loud crack rang out as a bone in her chest broke and pierced into her.
Triska gritted her teeth and a barrier of wind spread out around her and expanded outward like a mini-explosion. Shin’s following blades of wind were torn to shreds and both he and Sam were thrown backward by Triska’s ever-expanding barrier.
Sam was thrown nearly a hundred feet away and landed not so gracefully. Shin, on the other hand, formed his own barrier of wind around his body and landed on a nearby tree. Triska saw that he was closest and threw her trident at him.
*Fwoosh*
Shin was fast but he wasn’t fast enough to dodge this strike. His barrier concentrated on the spot her trident aimed at and he increased its strength at that place.
*SHRReee*
The air shrieked as the trident tore into Shin’s barrier. His eyes widened in fright and he kicked a viper whip beneath him. The force allowed him to accelerate sideways and he jumped away and into another tree. Triska’s trident stabbed into the previous tree he was on and shattered it. The tree literally exploded on impact and sent several large wooden chunks of shrapnel everywhere. A few people down below had no clue about the happenings above their heads and were directly crushed or impaled by the aftermath.
Shin wanted to sigh in relief but the trident didn’t stop moving. It turned in the air as though it had a mind of its own and raced toward Shin.
Shin once more used a viper whip and using the pushing force he flew into the air, just barely dodging the trident once more.
“SOME HELP WOULD BE NICE!”
Reya huffed at Triska.
“Took you long enough.”
Triska looked at Reya as though she were crazy.
“You useless monster, can’t even stand up to a few humans. It’s no wonder your species is pushed to the ends of Gordonia.”
Reya’s arm regenerated at this moment and she felt the urge to strike Triska down but quickly swept that thought away. She saw how Triska fought and how easily she was dealing with Kazuki and the others.
(Hmph, you weren’t attacked by so many while that strange weight affected us. Now that it’s lifted you brag like a whore whos got a few gold coins off her customer. Meanwhile, I’ve been dealing with them the most. What a rotten bitch!)
Reya at this moment saw Kazuki approaching Triska from behind and wondered if she should warn her or not. She really was caring less and less for this situation. With the golden compass already in her hand, she felt killing Kazuki was becoming increasingly bothersome and she felt her grudge and reason for killing him was not worth such a headache.
Her thoughts were too long because by the time she thought up to this point Kazuki was already behind Triska.
(Whatever, whether they kill one another, why in the 7 realms of hell should I care?)
Kazuki’s hands were covered in a layer of blue flame. Now that his Mage core was reforged, he no longer had to worry about his own fire burning him. He reached out toward Triska’s back with his good arm. As soon as he was bout to touch her though, Triska moved out of the way.
“Hmph, you think I’d let you touch me with that weird fire of yours. You forget I can dodge your slow movements.”
Kazuki said nothing and only smirked. His feet never slowed for even a moment and he appeared in front of Reya. Reya’s eyes widened as she realized he was aiming for her the whole time.
Triska grew pissed though and she grabbed for Kazuki.
“You think I’d let you!”
Just as she was about to touch his back however, she felt that intense heat just as before and felt the skin on her hand burning and blistering up. She instinctively pulled away but she couldn’t just let Reya be killed in front of her. Triska spun and kicked at Kazuki’s back. Kazuki grunted as he felt a heavy impact but he also was slightly relieved as Triska had pulled some of her power at the last moment.
Triska did this because just before her boot landed upon Kazuki’s back she found her boot engulfed in a blue flame and the heat was burning her foot within. She kicked off to the side at full power and her armored boot went flying into the sky. Before it hit the ground it had turned bright red and was already starting to melt. Her foot as well was charred in several places and bits of skin had melted off. A wave of pain throbbed in her foot and assaulted her senses.
At the same time, Kazuki was flying over Reya and had reached forward with his good arm. Reya had just regenerated one arm and made the sacrifice. She batted his ever-reaching hand away but her newly grown hand melted. This however wasn’t enough. Kazuki still couldn’t move his arm properly but spun his body in the air. His limp arm swung about loosely and his injured arm came swinging about wildly and his hand landed on her chest.
Reya looked down at her chest and saw Kazuki’s hand freely sinking into her flesh. Not just in her flesh but even further. Kazuki smiled at her.
“I caught you.”
