Light beamed from down below. Kimi continuously fired light beams onto Nunully’s ice mirrors who then reflected them directly into Triska’s face. Triska kept her eyes shut and continued to gather power but every shot of light began to build damage. Her eyelids were burning and blisters had formed. Just a little more and Kimi’s light would tear into her eyelids.
Degra as well wasn’t sitting idly by. He was rushing up into the sky on Mei’s back. A visor of black energy covered his eyes, allowing him to look directly at Kimi’s light without being harmed. Mei on the other hand didn’t have to worry about light or dark at all. In her Mangshi state, she had no eyes and so she was left unbothered by the firing of light.
Degra saw Triska had her eyes closed and grew excited.
“Mei, faster before she notices us!”
Mei flapped her wings even harder and her speed slightly increased. A sword made entirely of dark energy was already in his right hand and the next moment he formed another one in his left.
(I can’t kill this vixen with my swords alone. I’ll have to drag her down to the ground and use Kazuki’s blue fire.)
“Mei! Take me above her.”
Mei flew ahead and soon passed right by Triska. Triska ignored them completely and didn’t even open her eyes and Degra as well wasn’t even looking at her. Kazuki and the others down below didn’t understand what was happening and wondered why Degra didn’t fight her.
“Shin, I don’t know what Degra’s doing but it looks like he has a plan. I need you to be ready for me.”
“Just say the word, what is it you want me to do?”
Kazuki looked at the sky above.
“You’ll have to take me up there and I’ll need you to watch my back. I have the best chance of killing her and she knows that. If I get close, she’ll surely look for an opportunity to claim my life.”
“But I’m not as fast as her. We were lucky before but even with Degra slowing her I still can’t keep up. Using my power on you, it only makes it that much harder, you’ll be way too slow, a sitting duck.”
Kazuki nodded.
“I know. That’s when you come in.”
—————————————————————————
While Kazuki was distracted by the happenings in the sky, several men spotted Kimi and Nunully’s attacks.
“Kill them!”
A group of men appeared and surrounded Kimi and Nunully. Wielding their weapons they launched multiple attacks. Nunully’s concentration was broken and she could no longer reflect light for a moment. She turned on these men and launched several spears of ice at them. Two of the men were impaled and dropped dead on the spot. Two more dodged Nunully’s spears and headed straight for her, while another three rushed at Kimi.
Nunully threw up a large wall around herself and Kimi and blocked their attacks. At the same time, ice spikes exploded out from the wall and stabbed into more of their attackers.
*Boom*
Several of the spikes exploded and smoke rose up. One of the men had three fireballs hovering above his hand and another had his hands filled with flying daggers.
The man with the daggers threw several of them into the air in an odd arc while he threw a dozen more in one precise location. The ones flying above came raining down over the wall. Nunully waved her staff in annoyance and a roof of ice formed above her and Kimi. At the same time, three explosions rang out simultaneously on Nunully’s wall. The man with the fire grunted in anger seeing that he didn’t even damage Nunully’s ice.
Nunully was about to launch several spears at these men when she saw something terrifying. The daggers the man had thrown had been embedded in her wall and should have stopped there but to Nunully’s surprise. the daggers were still moving. They were vibrating within the wall and were tunneling through.
Nunully quickly reinforced her ice and pushed the daggers out. The daggers disappeared before reappearing in the thrower’s hands. The man smiled and prepared to throw them again.
(I can’t focus while these bugs are biting.)
Nunully launched more ice spears at these opponents but these men moved differently from all the others. They were quick and they knew how to use their magic to their own advantage. Even though they were clearly much weaker then Nunully, they were quite experienced. Add to the fact that Nunully was splitting her attention. Not only that more and more fighters were popping up left and right surrounding them. Several of them held staffs or had magic rings and many of them moved at speeds as if they were enhanced. The glowing inscription tattoos confirmed that a second later.
“Hurry and kill these bitches!”
Just as that man said that a large hammer came down upon his head.
*BOOOM!*
The man was turned into a puddle of blood and mush and the ground cracked. Sam lifted his Warhammer. Both he and his hammer were now covered in blood. Gripping it tightly in his hands he stared at these men and women and simply said one word.
“Come!”
His sudden entrance caused the men and women in front of him to become paralyzed for a moment in fear. Seeing them not move, Sam couldn’t bother to wait for them.
“Fine, I’ll come to you.”
Sam kicked off the ground and rushed to his nearest opponent, the man with the throwing daggers. The man was terrified but he still managed to gather himself and throw out more than ten daggers all at once. To his dismay, all of the daggers bounced off of Sam’s hardened muscles and Sam was already in front of him.
The man panicked and stabbed at Sam’s eye with the dagger.
*CHgich*
The tip of the dagger hit a crystal-like rock. Sam had formed a hard crystal-like armor over his eye in an instant and completely stopped the dagger.
Sam reached forward and grabbed the man by the neck and exerted a bit of strength.
*Crunch*
He broke the man’s neck as though it were a pair of chopsticks. The man fell to the ground broken and dead.
Sam turned to the others and casually asked.
“Whos next? Who dares to try and hurt Kimi?”
The men and women had no clue what Sam was talking about and only felt more fear. Slowly one after another they began to back away but there was no way Sam would let them escape, not after they tried to kill Kimi.
Sam lifted his hammer and slammed it into the ground like a meteor.
*KA-BOOM*
The ground splintered and the surrounding area became unstable and many of the runners became unbalanced or fell. That was when Sam appeared in front of them.
One of the men begged for his life and pleaded.
“Please, please spare.”
*CRUNCH*
Sam’s hammer shattered the man’s head like a watermelon. A woman saw this and tried to run away but Sam simply tossed his hammer at her.
*CRACK GEUSHG!*
His hammer was thrown with such force that it tore through her back and out of her chest before hitting someone else and shattering that person as well. The two died instantly in an explosion of blood and bone.
Sam didn’t hesitate. These people wanted his woman’s life and he would not hold back. Not for them, not for his enemies.
—————————————————————————-
With the light no longer being directed into her eyes, Triska’s focus went way up and her power gathered faster and faster. The clods up above began to rush above her head and swirl and rotate at an alarming pace. Degra noticed this and felt it becoming increasingly more difficult to breathe. He didn’t know what Triska was doing but if he was already having trouble breathing now and her magic wasn’t yet complete, he feared what was to come.
He kicked his heel into Mei’s side and barked.
“DIVE, RAM HER WITH EVERYTHING YOU’VE GOT!”
*SCREeeeeeee!*
Mei responded in kind and she dove down. Flapping her wings a few times she then folded them to her side and increased her speed even more. The clouds up above were torn apart all at once terrifying Degra. He couldn’t help but become nervous and scream at Mei.
“FASTER!”
Mei flapped her wings a final time and extended her neck making it as straight as possible before folding her wings once more. Her speed increased a level higher and her body started to blur with afterimages.
Degra clenched his swords and the two shattered and disappeared. The sword’s energy returned to him and he reformed it and added onto it as well creating a lance of dark energy. Concentrating his powers further, his lance became denser and darkened until it was beyond pitch black. All light around it seemed to fade as the area around Degra and Mei became darker and darker as though a haze of black mist surrounded them.
Degra laid his body flat and pointed his lance at Triska. The lance was nearly twenty feet and extended past Mei’s head.
(I’ll strike her with my lance and that should throw her off balance. After that, before she can recover, Mei will have already rammed her with her large body. Several tons colliding with her at this speed, she’ll have no choice but to fall.)
The distance between Triska and Degra was now only 100 feet and ever closing.
90 feet.
The air whistling past Degra began to hurt for some reason, almost as though there were rocks or something in it.
80 feet.
A single funnel of air fell past Degra and Mei faster than they were diving and struck the ground even faster.
60 feet.
Two more funnels had now touched the ground and the first was starting to spin up.
(Not good.)
30 feet.
A fourth funnel of air had extended from above Triska and had touched the ground. The other two had started to spin faster and faster while the first was already moving as fast as Degra and Mei were.
10 feet.
Degra was upon Triska. So close he thought. So close yet so far. Extending his arm he pushed his lance forward.
Just as it seemed his lance would touch Triska, both of her eyes shot open and she calmly spoke.
“Feel my power and accept your death.”
