Derga’s heart shook briefly. Out of all his expectations, he did not see this coming however after getting an eyeful of Triska and remembering that he still had a final card to play, he relaxed.
(I didn’t see this coming. For her to survive that, just how tough can one person be? No matter, her being alive may have actually helped the situation rather than hurt it.)
After Triska’s wild shout, the battlefield that was just chaotic a moment before drew quiet. Even those that were in excruciating pain, could only cower in the face of Triska. There was no question who the strongest of Gentis city was. There was no doubt in their mind that Triska could and would wipe them out if her mood grew foul and by the looks of it, she was already pushing into that territory. The soldiers down below knew their place and knew the best play and only play for them would to shut their trap and await orders like a good soldier would.
Triska’s trident never wavered for even a moment as she continued to point it at Degra but Degra remained calm and composed. With a slight grin he asked.
“You’re still alive, I’m curious as to know how someone can survive such crushing weight. Even with your tough body, you shouldn’t have made it out in one piece.”
Degra eyed Triska up and down. Though her arm was hurt, that was not from the falling ice but from Kazuki’s blue flame earlier and could be excused. Her other hand however was covered in blood but he couldn’t understand why. Scanning her over with his eyes, one hand was fucked from Kazuki’s flame and the other had several fractures throughout it, yet even with a broken hand she endured and gripped her trident tightly. The rest of her body, Degra couldn’t find a single thing out of place or broken.
Triska snorted coldly.
“That plan of yours was unexpected and caught me off guard but did you really think I would do nothing and allow myself to be crushed.”
That was all Triska said about that but Degra picked up many clues.
(With a broken hand covered in blood and knowing this female beast, she must have used brute strength and continuously punched out, destroying most of whatever came down on top of her. Anyone else may have accepted their fate and been crushed to death but not Triska. This woman, you truly are a monster aren’t you.)
“Triska is that really you!? Hahaha, to think you haven’t died yet, thank goodness. I just arrived and I saw the battlefield and grew worried you didn’t make it. I’m glad that your safe and sound. I was just about ready to destroy Degra and his friends and settle the agreement between us. You look quite exhausted, so why don’t you fall back and let me finish this matter for the both of us and we can split things just like we discussed.”
Thakriss had cautiously stepped out from behind Castion’s protective ice shield and began to wag his tongue as fast as he could. Although he was disappointed to see Triska still alive and breathing it didn’t hurt him too badly. Triska may be strong but she was not as wise as Degra nor as cunning. He felt he could outsmart her and remove her at the right time. Not only that, because Triska accidentally just killed a few hundred men just now, but that was also hundreds of salaries Thakriss now no longer had to payout. He might have just saved some money.
(The situation is still in my hands. Degra will still die in just a moment and Triska will be satisfied for a while. As long as I fulfill my agreement with her now and don’t appear to be too greedy, her guard will lower and she may even begin to trust me. After that, it’s only a matter of time before her back is exposed sometime later on down the line. She can’t always have her defenses up and that’s when I’ll end this monster.)
Triska could feel fatigue creeping in on her and decided to slowly back away.
Thakriss took this as an ok sign and rubbed his chubby hands in delight. He was just about tog I’ve orders when Degra cut him off.
“Triska are you leaving so soon. I could have sworn you wanted me dead but it seems I misunderstood that hate-filled gaze you’ve so graciously shown me time and time again. What’s wrong, could it be your finally tiring?”
Triska froze in mid-air and turned back. A glare filled with killing intent shot out and Degra could swear he felt a palpable pressure from this.
“You think I can’t kill you? Or is it you believe I won’t. This confidence of yours has always led you astray and even now that confidence will be your doom.”
Degra shrugged his shoulders.
“First off, who says doom? What era do you think we live in Triska? Secondly, I’m only confident because I don’t lose. The day I lose is the day I won’t be confident but today is most certainly not that day. As for it leading to my doom, well why don’t we make a bet? Running a casino I’ve been one to judge the odd and I say what I have to bet is in my favor.”
Triska was tired of his antics and was tired.
“Thakriss are you going to kill him or not?”
Before Thakriss could say anything Degra shouted at Triska to get her attention.
“HEY! I’ll bet you right here and now that you won’t kill me and as a matter of fact, you’ll kill Thakriss instead. If I lose, well that’s obviously my life but if I win, you will submit to me. Well, is that a bet or not?”
Triska snapped. She no longer cared about how she felt. This man below her, his smug attitude, his gaze as though everything is laid out before him, the contempt she held for Degra.
Her trident aimed for Degra once more. Kazuki didn’t like where this was going and was ready to jump in but Degra waved him away and whispered os that only the two could hear.
“Don’t worry, I told you earlier I had a card up my sleeve. It’s time to finally reveal it.”
Degra returned his attention to the sky.
“Well, this bet, will you take it, yes or no?”
A thick vein on Triska’s forehead began to bulge and throb. She had missed out on killing Degra again and again during this battle but no more. Triska was about to rush at Degra when he did something completely out of her expectations.
Degra slowly took off his helmet and canceled his power. Taking off his helmet, Degra revealed a head covered in blood. Whether it was using it this entire time or from the blow he received from Reya, only he knew for certain. One thing Triska did know though, is that her body was no longer weighted down. As though someone took off a vest weighing a few tons, Triska felt even her breathing had suddenly become lighter and easier.
All thoughts left her mind. If she didn’t kill Degra right here and now, she would never have such an opportunity such as this. Triska did what she does best. Her body now unrestrained, she kicked off of the air as though it were solid ground and raced toward Degra with everything she had.
(DIEEEEEEEEEE!)
Her trident extending forward, it tore through the air rupturing it, causing the wind to howl and screech as it was forcibly thrown out of her trident’s way. Like a demonic ghost, her body blurred, and only after images were left in her wake. Those that were directly underneath her, the wind that her body produced, lifted them up into the air by nearly a dozen or so feet before tossing them away like rag dolls.
Everyone on the battlefield had completely lost sight of her, well, everyone except Kazuki. However, even with his eyes filled with ki, he could barely keep up and that was only watching her. To try and catch her, no to try and step in front of Degra and block her, it was impossible. Even with Degra barely five feet away, to help him in this situation, he just couldn’t do it. He was completely powerless and there was no way he could move that quickly. Kazuki watched on not knowing what to do as Triska got closer and closer inch by inch.
Kazuki thought about maybe causing one of his fireballs to explode but he would have no time to throw it and would be caught up in the explosion as well. Not to mention even an explosion might not be able to catch up but what other option did he have.
As a few sparks gathered in his palm, Kazuki saw Degra’s lips move at an incredible speed. As comical as it was, they moved just as fast as Triska. Kazuki could tell he was mouthing a few words but what they were, he didn’t know. As soon as the first word seemed to form, Degra’s lips were now out of sight as Triska had landed in front of him, blocking Kazuki’s vision.
(No! she’s going to kill him.)
As soon as this thought crossed his mind, Triska had already struck out with her trident.
