Garn dragged Kazuki onboard Iselda and forced him to kneel at his feet. The other soldiers and Mages found this an odd sight but who would dare voice a complaint. Garn sat atop his throne and ordered.
“Take us back to Tresta, our business is finished here.”
Several soldiers saluted before prepping Iselda. A moment later, thousands upon thousands of inscriptions lit up with a golden glow.
With everything ready a soldier looked at Garn and Garn nodded in return. The soldier then pushed a small crystal inward on a dashboard.

…
…
…
Nothing happened.
Garn looked at the man and asked.
“Why haven’t we teleported yet?”
The soldier was confused as well and pressed the crystal in once more.
…
…
Still, nothing happened.
The soldier began to panic and repeatedly pressed the crystal inward but no matter how many times he tried, Iselda wouldn’t move.
Garn barked at the man.
“Are you really not listening to your king’s commands. Why haven’t we left yet?”
The soldier turned around sheepishly but he could only be honest in this situation. He fell to his knees in fear.
“Your Majesty, I’m not doing it on purpose I swear it. Something is wrong with Iselda. No matter how I press it, It’s not working. Please forgive me, I swear I did nothing wrong!”
“What! Something wrong with my weapon! I designed it myself. It is beyond flawless. If something is wrong it’s with your operation of it.”
The soldier sank lower and pleaded.
“It’s as you say. I am the incompetent one, please don’t kill me!”
Everyone saw this out of their peripheral vision. They didn’t dare turn their heads and acknowledge this man or involve themselves in any way in fear Garn might drag them into it and kill them.
Garn noticed this odd behavior from the others and didn’t understand while they were acting that way. He looked at his subordinate who was nearly lying flat like a board trying to appease him but something felt off.
(This man doesn’t seem to be lying but if it’s not his failure, how can it be my weapons. Iselda is a masterpiece and cannot be broken. This man knows what will happen if he lies so then why would he even dare and risk it.)
Garn curiously raised his scepter and willed Iselda to teleport them back to Tresta. He felt his power interconnect with Iselda the same as usual but the moment he willed it to teleport, just like the soldier operating Iselda, nothing happened.
Garn felt something he had not felt in a long time but he couldn’t quite place the sensation.
Garn added more and more power and commanded within his mind once more.
(MOVE!)
…
Nothing.
A few curious eyes fell upon Garn and he felt as though they were looking down on him and he snapped.
“What the fuck are you all staring at. Gods dammit! This feeling! Someone actually dares interfere with my weapon! Who! Which Rat actually presumes to stand in MY WAY!”
It was at this very moment a calm yet loud voice echoed over the rubble of the fallen mountains.
“Hmm, Garn, for you to call me a rat, my how your balls have grown.”
Garn heard this calm voice but he couldn’t quite place who it was.
The sky above Iselda turned black and a hole opened in the middle of it all. A swirl of dark red energy split open from its center and a man who seemed to be in his late twenties stepped out. The red energy faded and the sky returned to normal. This man was large, towering at 7 ft tall with large bulging muscles. He had a handsome face yet his features were sharp. Hair as black as night and a single eye red with the other yellow.
This man slowly floated down and hovered just above Iselda.
As soon as Garn saw this man his entirety shook and he didn’t move.
“Garn, have you already forgotten my face. It’s been 20 years but I haven’t changed all that much. You on the other hand have become even more decrepit and ugly. Every year adds a curl to your back and you become colder and colder. What’s wrong, dragon got your tongue? Were you not just spouting bullshit and calling me a rat.”
Garn said nothing and everyone dares not look at him. They could tell that something was wrong. Garn the great hero who slew his way through the continent many times and now the most powerful king, dare not even respond to this unknown stranger.
Kazuki as well, even with his body still throbbing in pain wondered what this weird situation was. He could see Garn trembling slightly.
(That’s not anger that’s making him tremble…it’s fear. Who in the world is this man?)
“Garn, do you really not want to speak with me? That’s a bit rude don’t you think. Well, there’s no helping it, since you don’t wish to speak, it seems I’ll have to tear this so-called weapon of yours apart and make you compensate me for what you’ve done.”
Garn jumped to his feet and ran outside at his fastest speed. He cupped his fist together but didn’t bow. Putting on a false smile, he asked.
“Glacious, how could I ever forget you? No how could anyone ever forget the most famous dragon slayer in all the land? I don’t know why you’ve stopped me from leaving but I think there’s been some kind of misunderstanding here. You spoke of compensation but I have no recollection of debt between you and me.”
Glacious rubbed his chin in thought.
“No debt between us, how odd, are you a fool, or are you just playing dumb?”
Garn felt a terrifying pressure under those words but he really had no clue what Glacious was speaking of. Garn cupped his fists once more and slightly lowered his head.
“Please, enlighten me.”
Glacious simply pointed down below at the rubble that used to be several mountains.
“Do you forget who owns the Rin mountain range? I know I haven’t made my presence known for about 20 years but you can’t have possibly forgotten that these mountains within 300 miles, all of them are mine. Have you forgotten that it was your king who gave them to me nearly 80 years ago just so I wouldn’t destroy him?”
Garn began to rack his brain.
(My king, but it can’t be king David but his father before him. Damn this old mind of mine, 80 years ago I was still traversing these lands and had no inkling of what the previous king was doing. He did mention something about these mountains no longer being his but I assumed he meant they just weren’t worth it as there are no resources and the conditions here aren’t livable for normal beings. So he actually meant that he had given these mountains to Glacious, damn I fucked up.)
Kazuki heard this and was shocked in his heart. They had been traveling for weeks and became lost in these mountains and thought they were still a long journey away from the Rin mountain range but it turns out they were actually lost in said mountains this entire time. Kazuki felt like a knife had been twisted in his gut knowing this. They had actually made it but had no clue where to go or who they were meant to meet.
(What a fool I was.)
“I…I really wasn’t informed and have crossed you. This is clearly my fault, what is it you wish for? A mountain of gold, rare metals, and crystals. Just tell me and it’s yours.”
Glacious looked annoyed.
“What use would I have for gold or other materials from this realm. All of your mortal treasures are trash in my eyes. This weapon of your though, I have some interest in it.”
Garn heard that and his body shook.
“NO! ITS MINE!”
Garn noticed his tone was filled with killing intent and he knew he had sinned. Glacious cocked his head and his eyes narrowed.
“What was that?”
Glacious took a single step forward and Garn actually panicked. He raised his scepter at Glacious and combining all of his power with Iselda’s he willed it forward.
Arcs of lightning danced all along the surface of Iselda before gathering at the magical rods at the very bottom of the island. This all happened within a second before all the energy gathered fired downward toward the ground.
10’s of thousands of lightning strikes danced out like demonic snakes and the sky filled everyone’s vision with bright white and blue light. Garn commanded the electricity with his scepter and all of the lightning curved upward and aimed at a still calm Glacious.
Garn yelled at the top of his lungs as he pointed his scepter at Glacious with the intent to kill.
“GOOOOOO!”
The 10’s of thousands of bolts of lightning raced toward Glacious as fast as., well, lightning. Just as they were all about to land upon his body, the lightning seemed as though it stopped for a split second while Glacious observed it.
“Hmm, so he uses that scepter to control it all, interesting.”
