Garn couldn’t believe what he was hearing and questioned dumbfoundedly.
“You want him? Why?”
Etora was irked.
“Why is it any of your business why I want him? As far as I see this little compensation is barely that. Consider it my good grace that I don’t ask for anything more than that and simply hand him over.”
Garn looked between Kazuki and Etora with incredulity before seeking answers from Glacious but Glacious waved him away.
“Don’t look at me, I haven’t the slightest idea why my little brother wants that man. Etora, do you care to explain, or will keep acting like you know something I don’t?”
Etora chuckled.
“Hah Big brother, I was imprisoned for nearly twenty years, falsely I might add. Is it truly unnatural for me to receive some form of restitution? Besides, there’s a specific reason why I want him. Remember how I told you some stranger freed me from this very weapon. At the time it was King David’s sky prison and Garn had caught me in a weakened state and sealed me within its walls.”
Glacious nodded along, recalling Etora’s story.
Etora pointed at Kazuki.
“It was that young man there. He was the one who saw me free at that time. If not for him, I’d still be starving, locked away in this floating island. There’s also another reason but It doesn’t need to be said in front of these people. The point is, that old bastard Garn owes me and things will never be settled until he pays in full.”
Garn felt a headache of rage. Things were becoming ever so clear. He had wondered how Etora had escaped. In the back of his mind, Kazuki helping Etora out and the two escaping the same night was too coincidental but he pushed it aside. He couldn’t quite connect the two. As far as he knew, Kazuki and Etora were strangers to one another so why would Kazuki help him out. Etora had no treasures on him and could give Kazuki nothing and instead Kazuki would need to give up some energy in order to help him. Who in their right mind would help a stranger escape from prison for no reward and sacrifice something in return whilst giving up precious time to escape.
Garn figured one of Etora’s old connections had been waiting for an opportunity of some kind and the night Garn went wild and turned on King David, that would be the perfect distraction. Garn had no attention on Iselda and was fully focused on the palace and King David. That would be the absolute ripest time to launch an attack on Iselda and escape.
Garn couldn’t connect the two but hearing Etora himself admit it was Kazuki who allowed him to go free, caused something to crack within him and he seemed to age ten years all at once. Garn pointed his scepter at Kazuki, he would not allow Kazuki to be free. He hated the fact that he now had zero time to torture Kazuki to death for years but he would at least have Kazuki die here and now. This would have to suffice.
Garn’s eyes glowed and without warning, the barrier of wind around Kazuki began to rapidly shrink. Kazuki felt his bones start to creak from the inclosing deathtrap before.
*Poof*
The barrier around Kazuki just popped like a balloon full of air. The next thing he knew Kazuki disappeared and reappeared right next to Glacious’s side.
Neither Kazuki nor Garn nor any of the soldiers or Mages onboard had witnessed what Glacious had done. One moment Kazuki was on the verge of being crushed and the next he was safe and sound next to a now glaring Glacious.
Glacious released a terrifying pressure and Garn was forced to his knees from it. Not just him though. All of the soldiers and Mages were forced flat to the ground from the weight of this pressure and many regular soldiers were squished right then and there, turning into meat paste. The enhanced soldiers could barely breathe as they were pressed against the floor while the Mages struggled to create small barriers around them that were constantly shrinking due to the overwhelming power of Glacious.
Garn knew he screwed up and his barrier managed to ease some of the outside force. Garn cupped his fist.
“Senior dragon slayer I have wronged, forgive me.”
Glacious held up a single finger and a small black flame gathered just above the tip. It formed into a small black fireball with glints of red dancing ferociously within.
“You really have no respect, do you? You destroy part of my territory and insult me, then you spit in my face by further insulting my little brother and trying to take justice from him by slaying that boy. I’ve changed my mind. Let me break this toy for you.”
Glacious was just about to throw the blackish-red flame when Etora stopped him.
“Big-Brother are you serious?”
Everyone sighed with relief.
“Hmm. What do you mean Etora, he’s insulted us both and…”
Etora shook his head.
“No I’m not talking about you destroying this prison but rather, you just got mad at me a moment ago when I was about to destroy some of your things remember. How can you set a bad example for me? If you use that magic here, all of these mountains will disappear, no?”
A chill ran down everyone’s spine. Etora wasn’t saving them, merely telling Glacious not to mess up his own territory.
Glacious agreed with Etora.
“Hmm, your right.”
Using his other hand, he grabbed at the air and a huge rift was torn in space. You could see a wide-open plain covered in wheat and grass gently blowing with the wind on the other side of this rift. Pushing his hand forward, Iselda and everyone on board, Garn included was pushed through the rift and ended up in this plain.
Glacious stared coldly at Garn.
“Let this be a small lesson for you decrepit one. Never piss off a Dragon.”
Glacious flicked the small fireball and it raced forward, following after Garn and the others through the rift. Glacious gripped at the empty air and the rift in the sky was closed shut like a door.
—————————————————————————-
A soldier on board screamed out in a panic.
“It’s coming! Your Majesty, please save us! Please teleport us away!”
Garn looked at the hopeful people on Iselda before his eyes spotted the incoming small flame. He knew this magic was not simple. His thoughts raced and he moved. The scepter in his hand filled with power and it seemed as though Iselda was about to teleport. Garn felt Iselda’s power flowing and he teleported.
The soldiers and Mages went from joy seeing Garn preparing to teleport them all away to disbelief and absolute horror as they realized their fates were sealed.
The small, blackish-red flame raced toward Iselda and arrived in less than two seconds. As soon as the small flame hit Iselda.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
An explosion so loud and so strong ripped the sky asunder and Iselda vanished. No, it did not teleport away, no it was broken into a thousand pieces. It was completely and utterly eradicated. Everyone on board in that instant was turned into ash and just a few nanoseconds after that, those ashes were broken down even further and there was nothing left.
The entire plain below, which expanded for hundreds of miles was charred and a raging fire kicked up and turned into several fire tornadoes that ripped through the land thoroughly scorching the land and anything within their paths turning the ground molten.
Garn reappeared several miles up above in the sky and saw this destruction below him and felt a fear unlike any other.
The land below him was completely devastated and he knew nothing would grow here for hundreds of years. As soon as he thought about the power he shivered.
(So this is the power of the 7th stage. To wipe away the lands as though water to paint, how devastating.)
As soon as he thought about that, it reminded him.
(The remaining Beast cores, what happened to them?)
He looked down below futilely. He knew there would be no way to see such small things from miles above the ground. Something made him curious though. There were still a few hundred thousand Magical beast cores onboard and this explosion should have caused a chain reaction and in turn, cause them all to explode. The explosion which completely rocked the world around him, with the added beast cores should have been several times bigger, and yet there was nothing.
A thought filled his mind and he shook uncontrollably.
(Was Glacious’s power so great that even the beast cores were vaporized? is that even possible?)
Garn felt this to be the truth. It was the only explanation he could think of. Otherwise, he should have felt the overwhelming saturation of pure Magical energy and it should have negatively harmed him even this high up, yet he felt none of it. The only thing he could feel was the overwhelming heat billowing up and the unnatural amount of fire and dark element all around.
Garn now regretted his actions. Now his ultimate weapon was destroyed and he had lost Kazuki. With Etora taking Kazuki, Garn felt his revenge was lost for good.
Garn raised his scepter and waved it at the clouds above him. A storm brewed above and soon a heavy downpour fell. For 10 days and 10 nights straight, rain continuously showered the large open plain before it burned no more.
