Glacious stopped laughing as soon as Etora fled the room.

*Haa*

“The fool.”

Mei, Kazuki, and Glacious were the last ones left in the dining room. After Glacious had broken the table apart, everything had ended up on the floor and a huge mess was created. Glacious was about to lift his hand to fix everything when his face paled slightly and he suppressed a cough within his chest.

Kazuki became concerned knowing Glacious’s true condition and rushed over to help but Glacious just waved him away.

“Forget it, I’m fine. More importantly, do you have some time right now?”

Kazuki looked around at the mess and shrugged.

“What would I need to do?”

“Good then come with me.”

Glacious wiped his mouth with a napkin before throwing it to the floor with the rest of the mess. At the same time, Mei was almost in tears seeing such delicious food being splattered all over and for a split second, she even contemplated eating off the floor. She leaned down and grabbed a piece of toast that didn’t appear to be too dirty and brushed off a bit of dirt and was seriously thinking of taking a bite from it before Kazuki snatched it away.

“Mei Mei, we don’t eat off the floor.”

Kazuki threw the toast back to the floor and tears welled up in Mei’s eyes. Kazuki knew he was doing it for her own good but seeing those tears forming he felt guilty. He was going to take out some red cloud candy from his ring when Glacious piped up.

“Little girl you come along with us. I have something far tastier than this little breakfast.”

Mei looked up at Glacious with a puppy-like expression.

“Big bro’s not lying?”

“Hmpf, I don’t lie. When you reach my level, there’s no need for such pathetic things. People lie because they are afraid or there greedy. I fear nothing and treasure and coin mean nothing to me. The only greed in my heart is for my health and family, after that, nothing else matters. So come with me little bird, I have something super tasty for you.”

The tears in Mei’s eyes disappeared in a flash and a huge smile replaced her downtrodden expression. She jumped up and down before grabbing onto Glacious’s arm in excitement. Though with her small frame it was a bit difficult to wrap her arms entirely around his one. Glacious ended up putting her on his neck and walking out. Looking back he asked.

“Kazuki, are you not coming?”

Kazuki instinctively followed along and asked.

“Where are we going?”

“I told you I was going to turn you into the strongest human on the entire Feya continent right? Well, that all starts with training. It’s better for you to simply follow and see for yourself. To explain it right now is boring. Let me see your surprised expression some more when I just directly show it to you. That’s always much more interesting in my opinion.”

Glacious snapped his fingers on the way out and the large doors behind them closed as they left.

Kazuki wondered what the snap was about but a moment later he could hear another door opening somewhere behind him followed by heavy steps and the shuffling of something and he figured.

(Must be the Golems cleaning up the mess.)

“Etra extra! read all about it! The mystery of the snowy mountain deepens!”

A young boy stood in the city square of Gentis and shouted at the top of his lungs. In his hand, he held several newspapers and waved them about frantically. Occasionally a passerby would be attracted by his words and become curious as to what was going on and would buy a paper or two.

An older gentleman walked over after hearing such words and asked.

“The mystery of the snowy mountains deepens. Boy, what does that mean? Are you making stuff up?”

The boy shook his head repeatedly and denied it.

“No sir, Never on my mom’s life. Something strange really has happened. It is so bizarre and no one knows how to explain it. Mister, are you interested. Three coppers and the paper is yours!”

The man rubbed his chin in thought before he shook his head and began to walk away. The young boy reached out and grabbed him.

“Wait wait, mister, it really is worth it. Even the big wigs have gotten involved and yet…”

When the boy got that far he covered his mouth, lest he gives away everything for free. This was a tactic the boss taught him to pull in customers. Those that were interested and were considering purchasing the newspaper could usually be drawn in if you mention important figures surrounding the news events. People were almost always interested in hearing about those that were popular or strong or important powers of the world.

Sure enough, when the man heard big wigs, he wondered out loud.

“Big wigs.”

The boy nodded and added.

“Yes, the two leaders of our fine city, Degra the snake and Triska they…”

The boy stopped once more and the man was hooked.

“Fine lad, give me one.”

The boy stood there as still as a stone statue and the man asked.

“Hmm, what is it? I said give me a paper, boy.”

The boy held up three fingers and smiled.

“Sure mister, as soon as you pay up, hehehe.”

The man rolled his eyes before fishing out three coppers from his pouch and tossing them over. The boy counted the money twice before handing over the paper in a much better mood.

“Thank you for buying mister.”

The boy then completely ignored the man and began shouting once again at the passing crowd, trying his best to sell his papers and earn some more coins.

The man shook his head seeing this but he wasn’t upset. Everyone has to earn a living and most had little time for nonsense talk. Going back to selling, was the right thing to do, even if it seemed a little rude upfront.

The man took a few steps and sat down on a nearby bench and opened the paper up to the correct page, bypassing all the small things and getting to the meat of the news. Reading through he was hooked on the story.

[Strange events following the battle between Degra and Triska. Barely a month has now passed since the incident between the top powers of Gentis city. A battle that took place northeast of Gentis left thousands dead. Degra and his men left Gentis and traveled to a certain location near a vast mountain range. There, they were ambushed by Triska’s soldiers. How this battle came to be, the details are still not clear, however, what is know,n is that the former City Lord, Thakriss, came near the end and was slain by Triska herself. Several thousand eyewitnesses collaborated on this and confirmed this to be true. Afterward, a truce was struck between both Degra and Triska and the city was split and deemed to be ruled between the two. Later, King Garn learned of this fact and made his way to Gentis where he would decide the fates of the two who took over one of his cities…]

The man rolled his eyes as politics came up and skimmed down to the interesting parts.

[With everything settled, there was still a bit of work to be done. Leaving thousands of bodies out to be buried in the snow in unmarked graves was out of the question for the families involved and the people gathered and were determined to march on the city lord’s mansion to demand the bodies be recovered and given a proper burial. However before the people could gather fully and march on the city lord mansion and give their demands, both Degra and Triska held a meeting and announced to the people that they would send men to recover everybody they could. Not only that, but the two leaders also agreed to pay all the expenses for all funeral rites and burials. The people felt relief and celebrated that they finally had kind and understanding leaders, completely forgetting the beginnings of the two notorious leaders. That is for another time though. After agreeing to send people to recover the bodies, several thousands of soldiers were gathered and marched the following morning to the leftover battlefield. When they reached the sight of the incident though, what they found made no sense. The scene was strange. The ground had clear signs of battle. Trees uprooted, the ground marked with scars and left with craters and trenches in every direction. Part of a nearby mountain was crumbled and scattered about were thousands of swords spears staffs and other such equipment. Everything was as it was left…everything except bodies. Searching the entire battlefield, not a single body could be found. Not only that, not even a body part, nor a smear or trace of blood was anywhere to be seen. Several soldiers who had witnessed the battle themselves and had returned to help recover the bodies were left both confused and terrified at such a bizarre thing. Some considered a horde of animals or some rare Magical beast, maybe even scavengers but the lack of evidence didn’t support those claims whatsoever. Even our new leaders personally made a trip to the sight and neither lord could figure out what had happened. For thousands of bodies to disappear and never to be seen again, this is the biggest mystery of the north and I fear it will never be solved. Both lords called back their men and the incident was put to rest. No one could figure it out and to continue on was not worth it. One thing we know for sure though is that this mystery will be left open until our leaders get off their asses and…]

The story continued further but again it went into politics, leaving the real mystery unsolved. The man scrunched his brows at the unresolved cliffhanger and felt dissatisfied. Looking up he searched for the boy who sold him the paper as to try and get a refund but the boy was nowhere to be seen.

(Dammit all.)

The man then crumbled the paper up into a ball and tossed it to the side.

“That kid, what a waste.”
