Walking through corridor after corridor, Kazuki wondered just how large this house really was. From the outside, the house appeared to be a regular size but inside, without exploring too deeply, it was clearly bigger than a castle.
Beautiful art lined every wall and gorgeous crystal chandeliers floated above leading the way with a guiding light.
After several minutes, Glacious finally came to a stop in front of a pair of large doors. Kazuki had to stop and stretch his neck up just to take them in. The doors literally went on for nearly 600 feet and were a hundred feet across. Made entirely of metal, the doors stood like an impenetrable fortress, allowing none to pass.
(Why the fuck are these doors so big!?)
“Were here.”
Glacious placed a hand on one of the doors, there were no handles to turn and simply required a push.
Glacious gently touched the door and it opened. Kazuki touched the other door and curiously tried to give it a push.
…
…
Nothing. Kazuki had just undergone an explosive transformation and gained a newfound strength but even with said strength, Kazuki couldn’t even budge the door a single inch. Kazuki couldn’t help but inspect it with his ki but surprisingly there was nothing magical about them whatsoever. No inscriptions, no seals of any kind. In the end, the doors were simply…doors. They were just so large and heavy, that no normal being could move them.
Kazuki began to gather a bit of energy and made a blue flame and wanted to test it further when Glacious called out to him.
“Young Kazuki, if you’re done playing about, I’d much appreciate it if you didn’t destroy my things. My patience is long but It becomes quite short when people destroy my things, as I’m sure you’ve seen a few times already. So if you don’t mind I’d like to get started now.”
Kazuki quickly gripped his flames and destroyed them before walking in, slightly embarrassed. His natural curiosity got the better of him and he forgot for a moment where he was. This wasn’t his play pin but instead belonged to a powerful dragon, that had seen the entirety of the Feya continent many times over. A being of immense wisdom and experience.
Kazuki thought like there for only a split second. As soon as he saw the room inside, once more he was thrown for a loop.
The room in front of him expanded outward as far as the eye could see. The ceiling as well stretched up for who knew how long as Kazuki could not even see the ceiling in the first place. This wasn’t the only surprising thing though. Kazuki couldn’t see the endpoint of the room but within it, in the distance, he could see mountain after mountain of gold. He could see mountain after mountain of rare gems and diamonds. There were armors made from the finest materials and treasured weapons as well.
This was not simply rich or filthy rich. This was world-dominating rich.
(So much…How can there be so much treasure? You could buy everything under the heavens with this much gold. Everything on the Feya continent could be yours and after you’ve bought up it all, you could then buy it all up again. This ungodly amount, who can spend all this? How many lifetimes would one need?)
“Senior, this treasure, why is it not stored in a vault or something, are you not worried about someone stealing it?”
Glacious raised a brow.
“Steal it, who would, rather who could? Those that can match me on the Feya continent are not many and those that would enter my tiny world would not be doing it for wealth but instead to kill me. Besides, since my ring is full, I’d rather have all of my stuff right where I sleep. Oh and everything within my tiny dimension, I can see all of it. No matter what someone does or says, I perceive it all.”
Kazuki felt his heart drop for a moment as he thought about the fun he and Lamia had earlier in the morning. Glacious as though reading some of Kazuki’s thoughts released a slight chuckle.
*Hah*
“No need to worry about what you do with my little sister. The two of you are both grown and know what you are doing. As long as you don’t harm her, I could care less what goes on in the bedroom.”
Kazuki rolled his eyes.
He thought about how it was an invasion of privacy but at this point, there was no such thing for him. After all, both Danny and his older brother Kai could observe everything he does. Whether it be fucking or taking a shit, Danny and Kai are right there with him. He could tell them not to peek but there would be no way he could enforce that rule and he had to just deal with it. Though it was annoying, there was nothing to be done.
Kazuki looked around the room but besides the literal mountain of treasures, there was little else. Outside in the hall, there were far more decorations and nice furniture that lined them but in Glacious’s room, there was almost no furniture or art or anything else of any kind. A large bed made entirely of a green gem sat with nothing beside it but a small table with a picture frame on it. Kazuki could see the picture from here and saw a familiar face. It was a picture of Glacious holding the same man Kazuki had seen working with Glacious on the Golems. It was his husband.
Glacious followed Kazuki’s line of sight.
“My late husband.”
“Sorry senior I didn’t mean to stare.”
Glacious reached out and the picture flew to his hand. He stared at it silently and gently stroked the picture lovingly before he let out a sad sigh.
*haa*
Shaking his head, he handed it over to Kazuki.
“No, it’s fine. By now I’m sure you’ve seen him at least once from my memories. He was the greatest person I’ve ever known. Patient and intelligent, far more intelligent than I will ever be. Most of all though, he was kind…”
“Do you mind if I ask…”
Kazuki paused his words as he felt he shouldn’t cross the line. He literally just met Glacious and only because Glacious is desperate to live, the two have come to a mutual understanding and are helping one another. The relationship beyond that just doesn’t exist.
Kazuki thought Glacious would be in agreement and wouldn’t answer him or maybe even get mad but to his wonder, Glacious replied.
“As we continue to use my cauldron and as you continue to absorb more of my Magic blood orbs, you’ll learn of it eventually. Minus well get it over with. My husband, his name was Haiko and he was murdered.”
The way Glacious acted, Kazuki knew it couldn’t be good but for there to actually be someone capable of killing someone close to Glacious, Kazuki felt unsure.
“Murdered…”
“Yes. Haiko was a free thinker. He wasn’t bogged down by the old ways and he wanted to help make the world a better place. He wanted to try and find a way to coexist peacefully with all races and bring the dragons’ advancements to the other races to make their lives better. His way of thinking was threatening their way of life but because he was a weak dragon and had no standing within our great clan, he was never taken seriously. That is until he met me.”
“Sorry senior but what does that have to do with meeting you.”
Glacious held up his hand and on his index finger, a black ring enlaced with gold sat there. On the top of his ring there was no jewel but instead, lay an insignia. The image was that of a dragon with a world in its mouth.
“This ring, the image within it speaks a thousand words. The dragon, bigger than the world with the world clutched in its jaws. It means that dragons are the dominant ones. We are above all and everything, the world included. It is beneath us and we are the natural rulers. That’s what most dragons believe. That’s how I used to think as well, that is until I met Haiko.”
Glacious felt his heart sting recalling the past.
“This ring also represents that I am part of the main branch of my clan. My father was the chief, the leader of them all, and I the son. I and Haiko fell in love and I began to see the world in a different way. I began to see dragons in a different way. Here Haiko was, a weak dragon, someone who shouldn’t exist among dragons in the first place, and yet he was the best of us all in my mind. My father and the elders thought differently. In their eyes, it was already bad enough that I was gay. It was already bad enough that I would have no heirs to come after me and I was the last. The thing that tore at them the most though was the fact that I was in love with Haiko. His ideas were too radical for them. The two of us got married in secret and that’s when everything fell apart. They thought I was being led astray and that I was being tricked and so they trapped me and imprisoned me. For me, I could survive that but they didn’t stop there. In order for me to no longer be influenced, they decided to cut the sickness away and so they killed Haiko in front of me. The best way to be rid of my fag thoughts they said. I will be fixed, cured of my disease, they called it.”
As glacious said that, the entire room began to grow dark and shake.
“They thought that after seeing that, and then imprisoning me for a hundred years, would solve it. I would cool down with that, they thought. After 100 years, I was finally let out and a celebration was held.”
The room shook further and in the distance, Kazuki could hear gold and gems spilling down from a small avalanche.
Glacious continued.
“I had already decided. By the time everyone has their fill, I would kill them all. After all, they deserve a last meal before I put them down. So I sat there, made pleasantries with a false smile until the last bit of food was swallowed down. After that, I made a simple toast. I’ll never forget those words from that night. I stood there in front of everyone and I told them. [I had loved only one person in all my life. You all have conspired against me and killed my one love. I cannot forgive you but maybe the demons down below will.] After that, I held myself back no more and slaughter took place.”
