“I began a slaughter.”

Glacious’s words were cold as ice as he described how he had personally slain his father and several of the elders of his clan. Those that tried to stop him were nothing compared to his magic.

“Durig my hundred years locked away, I didn’t just sit about staring at a wall. I found a new way, a new path on my journey to magic.”

Glacious held up both of his hands and a fireball formed above his right hand and wisps of dark energy snaked around the fingers on his right hand.

“Apart, the element of fire and the element of darkness can be quite devastating, in the hands of a proper master. This however is not the limit of the elements. Just as you found a way to increase the temperature of your flame to such a heightened degree that it turns blue and can burn most things in a flash. I too found a way to increase the destructive capabilities of my magic.”

Glacious brought his two hands together, clasping them tightly.

*Fwhoosh*

The light leaking out from the gaps in his hand darkened yet a glow was still present. Slowly opening his hands, a gush of heat began to blow outward in every direction.

Kazuki was forced to take several steps back, due to the high temperature. He looked down at his arm stupified. The hair on his arm was singed and his skin was stinging slightly as slight burn marks appeared on the surface.

(So hot, so terrifying. I can handle my own blue flame just fine and not get a single scorch mark but Glacious’s is actually burning me without touching me. My body has already endured several rounds within the cauldron and my defenses have been enhanced many times over and yet this black fire is overwhelming me and harming me. Just how hot it is?)

In his hand, Glacious revealed a small fireball. Its color was black as night and it constantly sizzled and cracked at the air around it.

Glacious could see it was burning Kazuki slightly and reduced its size to a fourth of what it was. with it, the temperature fell greatly but Kazuki could still feel the blazing heat emanating outward and didn’t dare take a single step forward.

Glacious threw the black fireball toward a mountain of gold in the distance. The black fireball was thrown casually but still arrived at a speed Kazuki could barely follow. As soon as the fireball landed upon the mountain of gold.

*PSHHHHHHH BOOOOOOM!”

The entire mountain exploded with an ungodly force. Even though Kazuki was standing far away, an aftershock hit him and threw him into the air. Glacious grabbed him before he went too far and helped him not get pushed back.

High up in the air, several globs of molten gold came raining down. It was similar to a volcano going off and Kazuki again felt the heat all around him climb higher and higher as huge drops of sweat poured from his face. However, before they could completely run down his face.

*Tsss*

They evaporated from the heat. Not just his sweat though. In the distance, the globs of molten gold were sizzling away. The black fire was eating them, destroying them entirely. Before they managed to land on the ground, the black fire had consumed them and left nothing behind.

The mountain of gold was no exception. It in its entirety was gone. Not a single ingot or coin remained behind and in its place was a smoldering crater as big as a mountain was tall.

An amount of wealth that could literally buy an entire country was gone yet Glacious, looked as if nothing had happened. Seeing that the other mountains of gold still stood, Kazuki wondered if Glacious was even bothered a little, but from the glance he got of him, it didn’t seem to move him in the slightest.

“That day, I wiped out many dragons. Some were stubborn and put up a fight but they were taken care of. Those that actually managed to flee when they saw what I was capable of, either escaped to a higher realm and sought protection from other dragon clans or hid themselves away on the Feya continent. After that, I traveled the Feya continent in search of them. Every time I found a dragon I would kill them, no matter the relationship we used to have.”

“Senior, even those that had nothing to do with your husband’s murder?”

“Of course. Those cowards. They may have not have had anything to do with Haiko’s death but they were just as bad. Because of their stuck-in-the-mud ideals, it didn’t even cross their minds that Haiko being killed was wrong. To them, it was natural to kill Haiko. To them, his life didn’t matter so why should their lives matter to me. Besides, if you don’t pull scum up by the roots, the weeds will always grow back and I was in no mood to constantly look over my shoulder for a cowardly dagger. I put an end to them or they ascended. Either way, they will suffer.”

“Hmm, senior, I thought if they ascended to a higher realm won’t they be safe? Why would they suffer?”

“You really don’t get it? In the higher realms, it has plenty of mortal beings but at the same time, it has billions or possibly even trillions of gods. What would these gods think of weak dragons? Even if you don’t count most of the gods and just consider the dragon gods. Dragons already have a superiority complex. Imagine if weak dragons like my clan members ascend. How would those dragon gods treat them? Most likely they would look down on them and feel disgusted that they were even the same species. My clan members that ascended would most likely be seen as an eyesore and be treated as servants or slaves and at worse, they would be seen as lowly embarrassing bugs that need a swift crushing. If they are not accepted as servants or slaves, then it wouldn’t be strange for the dragon gods to just kill them, and be rid of them completely. So as I said, they will suffer either way.”

Kazuki didn’t expect this at all. Retsu Gai had mentioned the higher realm to him before but he would have never of thought that there were actually mortals there.

(From what Glacious said, there are too many gods to count and these dragons from his clan will suffer no matter what. It makes sense why he doesn’t ascend as well. Were he to ascend it could be trouble. His powers have been weakening for a long time due to the soul poison. Even if he wanted to go and managed to make it to a higher realm, who knows what could be waiting for him. Besides the many gods, even if he doesn’t run into one of his former clan members, he could come across a random dragon god that sees him as a weakling and just decides to kill him right there and then because of that weakness. Enemies above, enemies below, and enemies all around, Glacious is trapped and he needs to get out. Whether he wants to continue looking for revenge or just live in peace, none of that can really happen if he continues to weaken.)

Glacious reached out with a hand and grabbed at the empty air.

The black flames in the distance began to quell and only a moment later they were snuffed out.

Kazuki was stunned by such a show of power but then he remembered.

“Senior, don’t you usually get upset when your things are destroyed? All that gold…”

*Cough cough hack cough*

A spurt of blood flew from Glacious’s mouth and splattered on the ground.

Glacious clutched at his chest and large beads of sweat began to run down his increasingly paler face.

Kazuki walked over in concern but Glacious waved him away. Kazuki stopped in place and simply waited as Glacious continued to cough for a few moments more.

After a few minutes, his breathing finally settled and he wiped his mouth.

“Thanks for your concern on both accounts. I do tend to get mad when people break my things but it’s different when I’m the one doing it. It’s the principle. As for my health, It’s my own fault for using so much magic today. For some reason, the more magic I use, the more agitated the lion-dog face gets and awakens for a meal. During those fits, there’s not much to be done. I can only let my Mage core get devoured bit by bit and then try and replenish what was lost but I can never fully replenish it all and therefore you and your brother have some work to do. Speaking of which, the lion-dog face mark seems to have had its fil and has fallen back asleep within my core. Now is the best opportunity for me to train with your brother.”

(What a weird way to look at it. That makes no sense.)

Glacious pointed at his large green bed.

“if you wouldn’t mind.”

Kazuki felt the way he said that was odd. In any other situation, Kazuki would not willingly walk over to another man’s bed. But this was definitely not for that reason.

Kazuki sat down and felt the bed was a hard green gem. From the color of it, the bed resembled jade, and sitting down a cool sensation passed through Kazuki’s body.

(If it weren’t as hard as a rock this cooling effect might actually be beneficial for sleep.)

Kazuki sat in the meditative pose with his shirt off. Glacious placed a hand on his back and the two exchanged no more words. Shutting their eyes, the two entered Kazuki’s soul world.
