Glacious took a step forward and his body flashed and he disappeared from everyone’s sight.
He quickly crossed rivers mountains in lakes in a single step and appeared in the depths of his forrest, precisely where Tilly had torn open space.
His eyes, one yellow and the other red began to glow dimly and his field of view expanded and he took in the sight around him. There were still small remnants of space energy in his immediate vicinity.
(Someone opened a passageway to the outside world. Who?)
Glacious found a dispersed pile of rocks and could tell right away it was one of his golems.
(She wouldn’t dare!)
A single person appeared in his mind but he needed to be certain.
Glacious sniffed at the air and detected two particular scents. One was of course Tilly and the other smell surprised him.
(Mei was here as well?)
Glacious didn’t understand right away.
(Tilly’s scent and Mei’s are right here. Did Mei simply watch Tilly dismantle my golem? The Magic core is missing. So the items she had Etora gather outside were for this purpose. That old bat really was so obsessed. Does she not think I will kill her? Does she really think I will sit back and not retaliate?)
Glacious could sense everyone within his tiny world and found that Tilly was definitely no longer here. To the west, he could sense Mei’s presence. He needed to get the full picture before he acted. So once again he took a single step forward and disappeared. The very next moment, he appeared as silent as a ghost behind Etora. At Etora’s side, Mei was happily eating some snacks as well as drawing on the ground with a stick. The two chatted back and forth about food and adventures they’ve had, while Nunully rested near the two in the meditative position.
As soon as he arrived, Etora could smell him with his sensitive nose.
“Big brother, Nunully is done. She fully absorbed the Modoshi pill and her strength has already increased… Brother, what’s wrong? You look upset.”
Glacious sighed.
*Haaa*
He didn’t hide anything and told Etora his suspicions. After explaining what he had found, he directed his attention to Mei who was still not understanding the situation.
“Little bird. I know you were there. The scents fade at different times but you should have witnessed something. Tell me, what did Tilly do?”
Mei grew nervous as she now realized by Glacious’s tone that things were serious.
“Eh…Um, Tilly told me not to say. So I can’t tell you Mr dragon.”
Glacious suppressed his anger as he understood Mei was still a child and was easily tricked but even still, he stepped forward and looked at her coldly.
“Mei, this is not a game nor is it a joke. I cannot find the Magic core for my golem, if such technology…Mei, Tilly has tricked you and what she took is very dangerous. If I don’t get what belongs to me back, the world will never be safe for creatures like you, creatures that are not human. Do you understand? What Tilly has can cause the extinction of magic beast’s if it falls in the wrong hands. You need to tell me the truth right now.”
Mei gulped hard. Glacious had never called her by her name adding to the seriousness of the situation. Hearing the way he put it. if things really endangered her and others like her, wouldn’t that make her a bad person she thought?
Tears began to well up in her eyes as she didn’t want to betray Tilly and tattle but both Glacious and Etora looked as though she were a bad kid, as though she was a problem child.
Mei in the end didn’t want to be bad and she told Glacious everything whilst tears streamed down her face. Etora confirmed that she had told him the exact same story and that he didn’t mention it to Glacious because he figured Glacious already would deal with it.
Glacious released his aura and silenced Etora before he could utter another word.
“Etora, you did not think that maybe you should say something? How would I deal with it if I am inside my mountain where nothing can reach me. How could you not use your head for once? You have disappointed me greatly.”
Etora felt his stomach twist up and his heart sink. He had been admonished plenty of times by Glacious in the past but that was almost always little annoyance he caused here and there. Nothing like what was being expressed today. Glacious said he was disappointed in Etora and Etora could feel it. These were not just words that struck him.
Etora bowed his head and felt guilt and shame.
“Big brother I…”
“Silence. Etora, today, do not call me big brother. As a matter of fact, don’t call me at all for the rest of the day. I have to go deal with this and clean this all up.”
Etora went silent and stared at Glacious in shock.
It was at this time that Nunully slowly stood up.
“Uncle. you are being too hard on Mei and Etora as well. This isn’t their fault.”
Glacious’s eyes scanned over Nunully. He ignored her words and saw the newfound strength she had.
“You still need to rest a little. Your strength has just been refined to a new level. You’ll need time getting used to it.”
Glacious turned to leave but Nunully grabbed his arm.
“Uncle, I said you are being unfair to Etora.”
Etora tried to ease her off.
“Nunully please don’t say any more. Big br…Glacious is right. I should have done something as soon as Mei told me about it. I…I was short-sighted.”
Etora said that but Nunully didn’t relent. She held tightly onto Glacious’s arm as though she wouldn’t let him go until he admitted he treated Etora unfairly.
Glacious saw the unwavering look in her eyes as well as Etora’s sincere expression and he sighed inwardly. Pausing for a moment to think about it, he may have pushed too much responsibility onto Etora. After all, it was not Etora’s job to look after his things.
“Nunully, you are just like your mother, maybe too much but that’s not necessarily a bad thing I guess. Your right. Etora…Little brother, I jumped far ahead of myself and rushed to push the blame onto you. I even said such harsh words in anger. It just stings so much. I opened my home to her, treated her as a guest but this betrayal…I never seem to learn my lesson when it comes to trusting outsiders. I even brushed things off even when I saw she had materials and tools to use space magic. I overlooked things because she had become quite recently. I have no one to blame but myself.”
“Big broth…Er, Glacious don’t blame yourself. It was me who brought things to her. She bribed me with some food and I fell for it with such ease. You should blame me, I blame me so please don’t speak like this.”
“Forget it. None of it matters now. What does matter is Tilly. That old bat has stolen from me. I will take a step outside for a moment. After I deal with her and take what belongs to me back, I’ll return and we’ll put this behind us.”
Etora agreed. He never had bad blood with Tilly. Sure he had gotten mad at her a few times but never to the extent, he felt right now. He could feel his blood lust rising just thinking about sinking his teeth deep into her throat.
Nunully on the other hand didn’t like the foul energy spilling out around her. Glacious’s suppressing aura and Etora’s bloodlust made those weaker then them feel heavy. It made it difficult to breathe and even made one feel queazy. Not only that the way they talked about it, she knew what they meant when they said deal with Tilly. That obviously meant to kill her and Nunully couldn’t accept that.
“Uncle! about Tilly, you can’t just kill her!”
Mei as well grabbed her courage at this moment and agreed with Nunully.
“Big sis is right. Tilly is…Tilly is still our friend. You can’t hurt her.”
“I can’t? Tell me, Mei, if someone stole from you what would you do?”
Mei went silent and found it difficult to answer. She knew exactly what she would do if someone stole from her but Tilly wasn’t a bad person. The thoughts in Mei’s mind began to spin out of control and she felt dizzy just thinking.
Nunully understood things more clearly.
“Uncle, have you forgotten that Tilly and Kazuki are friends. If you kill his friend do you think he will continue helping you learn his ki. You know how Kazuki is, you know he’s not one to let things go.”
Glacious went quiet for a moment. He had already learned all of Kai’s sword arts and had nearly mastered them. Not only that, he had already begun to learn ki from Kazuki, albeit at a much slower rate but still he was coming to understand it more and more. He felt if things continued as they were, then in a matter of months, he could possibly be at the same level as Kazuki in terms of ki manipulation.
However, he couldn’t be sure. There were still many things that baffled Glacious about this new energy called ki. If he were to upset Kazuki at this moment. Kazuki may very well cut him off completely and seeing how Kazuki had just connected his mind and body, things such as torture were off the table. Not that he would use that on Kazuki in the first place.
The whole point though was that he couldn’t upset Kazuki when he himself was so close to finally counter-attacking the lion dog face seal that was killing him.
Glacious contemplated things for a moment but he found himself in a truly difficult position. If the magic core in Tilly’s hands truly did end up in the wrong hands, the world would slip into chaos and war. No that wasn’t his concern but who would want the deaths of possibly billions on their head. He didn’t care about innocent lives if they didn’t affect him but if he didn’t recover his magic core, then billions of innocent people could die and he would hold himself somewhat accountable and responsible for it.
(To let my magic core slip into human hands, the most greedy creatures on the planet. They will definitely use it for ill purposes but to kill Tilly right now could form a wedge between me and Kazuki. That would in turn affect my life.)
Glacious finally gave up and changed his thoughts.
(If I can’t figure out what to do, why not ask the person who’s friends with Tilly. Kazuki may even see it from my perspective.)
“Niece, I will go and talk with Kazuki. I will hear his opinion on the matter and then make a decision.”
Glacious then disappeared from that spot followed by Etora. Nunully and Mei shared a look before they as well gave chase.
