Brian stared at the glowing orb floating above Garn’s hand, becoming lost in its splendor.
(Garn’s creation, is this not an evolution of magic unfolding before my very eyes. Garn’s obsession has taken him this far. To create a source for such power the cost and knowledge must be as vast as the ocean. To reverse engineer this orb, how long would it take me. 10 years, 20, a lifetime. There’s no way of telling right now, I need to see more of it.)
Just as Brian thought this, Garn waved his hand and the orb vanished, reappearing somewhere deep within the palace.
Brian couldn’t help but blurt out.
“Just a little longer!”
Garn’s brow rose in satisfaction.
“Now you’ve become interested. It seems you can actually see the worth of my Mugen core, unlike this other king.”
Tobern stopped laughing at this moment.
“What nonsense are you still carrying on. So you have a shiny magical orb. Is that supposed to prove something? I could grab a beggar off the street, if he knows anything at all about alchemy or Magitech, he could whip up something shiny as well. Stop wasting our time. You want us to believe you, prove it right now or I’ll consider your acts from earlier a step towards war. Brian you too, speak up. How can you let this charlatan who usurped his way to power stomp all over the pride of us kings. Garn you may be powerful but Bozek is not far behind you in strength. With the new magic cannons we have, let me see what you can do against them.”
Tobern was rambling at this point while Garn simply looked at him as though he were a fool. Brian on the other hand, though it could not be seen through his holographic image, back in his own throne room, he was now as pale as a ghost as he realized Garn was not bluffing. He had only caught a small glance at Garn’s so-called Mugen core but that was more than enough for someone such as he, versed in the ways of magitech to see the truth. Garn’s creation was in fact real. The strength of it though was the only thing yet to be determined but Brian knew Garn was not one to bluff. As a matter of fact, Brian thought Garn might even be downplaying the power of his palace.
As Tobern continued to ramble, Brian could no longer take it.
“Tobern!”
Tobern stared at Brian.
“What boy king!”
Brian felt annoyed and embarrassed by the fool Tobern.
“I may be a young king but even I can see that Garn’s Mugen core is no joke. With your constant rambling and running of the mouth, you only embarrass yourself. Can you not see, Garn, is serious here!?”
Tobern’s anger and stubbornness came out once more.
“Rambling, boy king, every word I say is important. The only embarrassment is the two of you. One is tricked and the other is a fraud. I’m the one that should be embarrassed by the two fools who call themselves, king. Now as I said, Garn, prove this weapon of your true or don’t and prepare for your reckoning.”
“Tobern can you really not see!? Garn, ignore Tobern, he does not understand the depths of magic like you and me…”
Garn’s expression did not change in the least. He remained steady and calm.
“Tobern, you are absolutely correct. I need to show you. Only then will you realize the grave mistake you have committed. After you’ve witnessed the power of my palace, I wonder how quickly you’ll fall to your knees ad beg me for forgiveness. Maybe you’ll be too terrified and freeze on the spot or maybe you’ll see no chance whatsoever and commit suicide right then and there.”
Tobern’s anger was unfiltered now and he would no longer hold back.
“Boast boast boast, it seems becoming king has gone to your head. You think…”
*RAOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!*
Before King Tobern finished his tirade, a roar unlike any other ripped through the air below the dark screen of swirling energy.
All three kings felt a chill run up their spine and they stared down through the transparent floor and watched the dark energy in horror. Even though Brian and Tobern were not actually there, none could speak due to fear and all three watched the dark world below frozen.
—————————————————————————-
Only a few moments ago, Etora unburied himself from hundreds of feet of snow, ice, and boulders. As soon as his wolf head appeared above the surface of the snow, his eyes were filled with a terrible sight. The entire world around him was pitch black and burning with black fire. Gigantic tornados filled with lightning as well as black fire spiraled chaotically, ripping up the ground in every direction and spinning shattered bits of mountains. Everything was crashing and smashing into everything else.
(This is brother’s magic as well as Fera’s but I don’t see either of them anywhere.)
All over the ground, large cracks formed and stretched in every direction, as dark energy spilled out from down below. Etora was shocked, to say the least. His very first thought seeing all of this.
(Did I accidentally get myself killed and go to one of the 7 realms of hell.)
Etora pinched himself and felt pain and knew he was sleeping or seeing illusions. He wondered what was going on when out of the corner of his eye he spotted a small light. As soon as he saw it, he felt his stomach twist.
(KIMI!)
Kimi held a terrified expression on her face and her body was covered in blood. If not for this small light she emitted, Etora would have never seen her.
Etora leaped in the air toward her and opened his mouth.
*Snap*
He slammed his mouth shut and held Kimi safely inside.
He then spotted Asuna, Nunully, and Kazuki and proceeded to open his mouth and place them all inside. He saw a dark green object covered in spike crashing into boulders and crushing them and knew it was Sam and scooped him up in his mouth as well. He looked for Shin but couldn’t spot him anywhere.
Landing on the ground, Etora spitted everyone out and circled around them with his large body, covering them safely in his fur.
(That’s a lot of energy but I should be able to do it.)
Without a second thought, Etora looked toward the sky and opened his mouth.
*RAOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!*
The air vibrated and a shockwave tore through the chaos. All at once, the tornadoes, lightning and flame, they all seemed to stand still for a split second before they all pointed in one direction.
A powerful suction force formed at this moment and the direction of the wind changed. With Etora at the epicenter, energy raced toward him. The bottom of the tornadoes lifted off the ground and began to fall into Etora’s mouth. Ice and wind raced into him. Lightning rained down hundreds of strikes toward Etora as though to defy him but Etora only opened his mouth wider and the suction force increased until every strike could only fall into his mouth.
The black fire from his brother’s fused attack was no exception. It seemingly was peeled away from the surface of the ground like a bandaid from a wound and could only funnel into his gullet. More and more the change in atmosphere could be directly felt. At some point even a large Azirian that had been fused with thousands of other Azirian’s, even it was no exception and Etora swallowed it whole. Even the dark energy blocking out the sun and seeping from the ground was no exception. it spiraled both upward and downward, from down below and up above, and was forcefully swallowed. With it, came the clearing of the sky until not even a cloud in sight could be seen.
The only thing left in the air was a large white palace. It had started to descend from the sky when Etora first started but Garn quickly threw the barriers up and Etora’s power was blocked. This was more than enough proof for Brian but Tobern was still doubtful. Still, no one spoke as they watched this bizarre scene continue to unfold below them.
Etora inhaled the last of the foul energy seeping from the ground until it finally stopped. His mouth slammed shut and Etora fell to the ground. His body rapidly shrunk and he transformed back into his human form. The world once more returned to its former calm but the aftermath was that of devastation.
Kazuki and everyone looked around at this world of ruin. They had been surrounded on all sides by mountain ranges and forest and now there was nothing. No mountains, no trees, no rivers or lakes. The ground was carved up, cracked, and cratered in every direction and small wisps of dark energy began to seep up through said cracks. The rivers and lakes turned to steam due to Glacious and Fera’s attack and the ground was destroyed thoroughly.
Looking out, it was hard to tell that this place used to be one in which things could actually live. Lost in such thoughts, a scream echoed out behind them.
“Kazuki!”
Nunully cried out to Kazuki in a panic.
Turning around, Nunully was holding Etora in her arms. Etora was unconscious and purplish-black blood leaked from his mouth. Kazuki ran over and placed a hand on Etora’s chest. Stretching out his ki, he checked on Etora. With his ki, he sensed a large amount of purplish-black blood attaching itself to Etora’s body. It clung to his bones, his blood and muscles, and Kazuki could sense this fiendish blood heading toward Etora’s brain.
Kazuki knew exactly what that blood was and didn’t hesitate. He injected more of his ki into Etora and surrounded that Azirian blood in one go. With a deep breath and his will, Kazuki pulled his ki out of Etora, dragging that infernal blood out along with it.
Purplish black blood instantly seeped out of every pore on Etora’s body and he coughed up several mouthfuls of it all at once. The purplish-black blood splashed on the ground and sizzled for a moment before seemingly becoming inert.
Kazuki checked Etora out once more just to be safe but found nothing else wrong. A few seconds later Etora slowly opened his eyes and chuckled.
“Little brother, you saved my life again it seems. Maybe I should be calling you big brother instead from now on, hehe.”
