Kazuki ignored Fera’s question and glared at her. The thoughts bubbling within his mind caused his blood to boil. All this time he’s wanted nothing more than revenge for what his sister and mother had done. More than a decade later, just when he started to grow in strength, his enemy appears before him to crush him. The unfairness to it all. To come this far and finally see progress, only to have death stare you down face to face.
This power dynamic where his sister had every single advantage and he had nothing was sickening beyond degree. Kazuki’s stomach twisted and his nails dug into his palms until he bled.
“Little brother…your hatred…I can feel it. That look of yours which exudes nothing but rage towards me, how laughable. You despise me from the bottom of your very being but so to do I. I understand such hatred because I feel the exact same way about you.”
“You…You fucking bitch! You understand nothing and you feel nothing! You are exactly like that woman! All you know is manipulation and murder! You know how I feel. What the fuck are you saying!? You couldn’t understand me even if you had a million lifetimes! You’re cowardly and vile, nasty, and cruel! The most despicable bitch! More than anything you are lucky! Lucky that I didn’t have more time to develop and grow. If I did, you can be damn sure it would be me showing up at your doors instead of you appearing here. So go ahead and kill me Bitch! Stop wasting everyone’s time!”
Fera smiled fiendishly and gave a slight nod.
“Kazuki, are those really the final words you’ll speak in this world. The anger is understandable but you come off as nothing more than a whiny brat. I heard you were summoned back to our world as a hero but the sight before me, how pathetic.”
*Heh*
Kazuki released a small chuckle.
“Me pathetic, now that’s funny coming from you. The person who had to steal talent. Had to take Mage cores from your own family members in order to grow their strength. A silver spoon since birth, with every resource available and a kingdom of your very own underfoot, and you, call me pathetic. I myself may have had some help along the way but your entire life you’ve had training wheels to catch you when you fall. Because of this, no matter what you do from now until the end, you will only ever be pathetic in my eyes. Now hurry up and kill me!”
Fera didn’t understand that training wheel reference but she knew it was meant as an insult. With all the power in her hands, she saw his insults as nothing more than provocation which she would deal with in-kind.
“Fine, insult me with your last words, don’t tell me how you escaped. Wag your tongue desperately trying to extend your life by seconds like a drowing rat at the bottom of a bucket. It doesn’t matter anyway, I was just curious as to how you were capable of escaping mothers power but oh well.”
Fera raised an arm made from a cloud in front of Kazuki’s face. Arcs of electricity danced around within her palm like a bunch of wild snakes.
“I’ve waited so long for your death, finally things shall be settled now. Goodbye, little brother.”
*Crack TZzzzt*
A bluish-white bolt of lightning shot forward directly towards Kazuki’s head. Kazuki watched this with a strangely calm heart. Death had caught up to him and there was no escaping. As the lightning came shooting toward his face, Kazuki’s heart may have been calm but his mind was racing and was filled with rage. If only he had more time if only he could have gotten just a little stronger.
*Tzzzt*
Just as the bolt of lightning was about to touch Kazuki’s head, out of nowhere it suddenly curved around him and was swallowed whole. All eyes widened at this moment, Fera’s included. Etora took a step forward and pushed Kazuki behind him while patting his stomach and licking his lips at the same time.
*Burp*
“Kazuki, did you really think I’d let you die just like that. Now that I’ve had a few seconds It feels like my stomachs no longer upset.”
“Etora you…”
Etora smiled at Kazuki.
“You’ve saved me too many times already. Let big brother show you what he’s capable of.”
Kazuki’s heart began to race in his chest as he watched Etora confidently walk forward. Etora pointed at Fera and yelled.
“Oy! is that any way to treat your little brother. It seems Kazuki was right about you, you are nothing but a thieving murderous bitch and right now you could really use some discipline.”
Fera’s eyes narrowed. She had never seen a being swallow energy like that before but the curiosity was fleeting.
“So another pawn has decided to sacrifice themselves. Fine, if all I need is to kill everyone insect here before my brother, that is only one more pebble in my path. DIE!”
Fera raised a palm once more and several bolts of lightning snaked out at once. Etora though was nothing but smiles. Opening his mouth, a devouring force rippled through the air and all of the lightning funneled directly into his mouth before he swallowed it all down.
“Mmm, that was good. Not as tasty as big bros black flame but still it wasn’t too bad. Care to spare some more.”
Fera’s anger grew and she stretched out her arms at once. Black ominous clouds formed instantly and thunder cracked. She extended an arm to the sky and pointed the other at Etora.
*CRACK KA-BOOM!*
A continuous stream of lightning fell from the sky and flooded out of her arm and shot at Etora. Etora once more simply opened his mouth and a strong suction force erupted all around him. Like an extremely long noodle, Etora slurped up this continuous stream of lightning for 10 seconds, 20, 30. Eventually, the lightning in the sky dissipated and Fera stared at him in mild confusion and a bit of shock.
(How can he just eat all of my lightning and be unharmed?)
Up above in Garn’s floating palace, Tobern and Brian watched this display in equal parts fear and admiration.
“Garn, this is Etora’s abilities first hand. By the accounts, I thought his power was pure exaggeration but he really does eat energy. Just how in the 7 realms of hell did you capture such a beast!?”
Garn shook his head and answered Tobern without holding back.
“At the height of the Eden fallen war, I fought with Etora, trying to retrieve that artifact but in the end, the artifact vanished. I don’t know how or why but it seemed to have weakened Etora t such a degree that I could capture him. As you know Etora can’t fly and besides his devouring ability, he can only really use physical attacks. I attacked him from above and refused to engage with him in close combat. In the end, I managed to knock him unconscious by dropping several mountains atop his head with over 100 times gravity attached to them. Once he was out I teleported him directly into Iselda and locked him up. After that, I kept all magic away from him and starved him. As long as he couldn’t consume, he couldn’t gather any strength. I did this to both hold him and also try and get the details about the artifact out of him but he never gave in.”
Tobern felt a chill run up his spine.
“Several mountains with over 100 times gravity. What a monster he is.”
Tobern was beginning to have second thoughts about taking Kazuki and trading him over to Fera. With both Glacious and Etora backing Kazuki wasn’t threatening him like jumping into the lion’s den.
Brain started to tap his armrest from his side before he added.
“Garn, the situation, are you still not going to do something. Both Glacious and Etora is on Kazuki’s side. If you do nothing, and you watch this play out, even if you don’t interfere it would be like you wanted them to fall. If you don’t step in and help, it’s like you are declaring that you’re their enemy, right? It was one thing if Fera killed Kazuki just now, it could still be considered that you just arrived and you were assessing the situation. Now that Fera has clearly tried to kill Kazuki and Etora if you don’t step in, who is the enemy and who isn’t will be very clear to them. What are you going to do?”
Garn watched the situation below intensely. On the one hand, Kazuki killed his subordinate. On the other, Fera and Azirian’s were the enemy of humanity. They were his enemy and he was supposed to be the hero who saves everyone, right?
Fera stopped firing her lightning and started forming a body of solid rock.
“Fine, magic won’t work, then let’s get physical.”
Etora took a step forward and cracked his knuckles.
“Finally, now we’re speaking my language.”
Etora raced forward just as Fera’s body finished forming. Her entire body was made of some type of rock that took on a black metallic sheen and had a green energy coating the surface of her metal like skin. The two each exchanged a single punch that broke the world around them.
*CRACK!*
