(For the wall to actually end…)
Kazuki stretched out his ki as far as possible and found a large gap in the wall.
Taking a rock, Kazuki tossed it far away.
*Tak*
A few hundred feet away the small rock struck something and the echo showed him an image in his mind.
(The wall continues a few miles away but this gap in between is a huge ass hole. It almost half the size of a mountain. This opening is like a cave.)
Kazuki wondered what to do. Beside him was a large cave. Were he to enter it, that would put forth many obstacles. Especially was he to become lost in said cave. Not just that. If he wanted to continue to follow alongside the wall, he would need to cross in front of this large opening. Doing so would leave him far more exposed than before. At least when he was near the wall, as long as he put his back to the wall, he would have a guarantee that nothing could attack him from behind. Out in the open, however, he could be hit from any direction.
(I’ve traveled all this way and I’d like to know what’s further on but to cross in front of this opening, who knows what lies within. Besides, it’s been almost 7 hours since I’ve been moving. I haven’t done much and it’s frustrating but it’s better to be safe than sorry.)
Kazuki didn’t know what to expect down here but the risk of crossing this opening was not worth it. For now, he decided to turn back and head to his tiny base.
*Click clack clack click*
Something entered Kazuki’s ki range and he swung out in an instant. His black ruler unraveled from his wrist and lengthened to that of a typical sword.
*Schink*
Kazuki’s ruler stabbed deeply into a clacker and a spray of blood splashed in his face. The ugly bug fell onto the ground and twitched a few times before it died.
Behind Kazuki, there were 9 clackers closing in on him.
Kazuki felt his skin sting a bit from the foul blood on his face. At the same time, he felt the Azirian blood start to churn when his focus was split.
Three more clackers jumped at him.
Kazuki felt his body freeze as the Azirian blood began to move. All at once the three clackers opened their mouths and bit down on his thigh, forearm, and shoulder.
*Heugh*
Kazuki endured the pain of having bones broken. He remembered his survival instinct and controlled the godly aura to suppress the Azirian blood within him. The time it took was not even a second but the other clackers had already leaped at him.
Kazuki had little time to act. Though he didn’t wish to draw the attention of other creatures, desperate times call for desperate measure. Filling his voice with ki, Kazuki shouted with all his might.
“BACK THE FUCK UP!”
as his powerful shout rang out, it had an immediate effect. The large cone-shaped ears on their backs flinched. Opening and closing rapidly, the clackers fell out of the air as though they were stunned. The ones on his body as well that had just been greedily chewing on his flesh, all at once fell away from him. blood poured from the ear on their backs and they all struggled to move. A moment later and they all fell over, dead.
Kazuki was feeling annoyed. With a flex of his arm and leg, the broken bones realigned themselves. Rushing ki to those areas, the bones held in place and began to fuse rapidly.
(These stupid little fuckers. I lost focus for not even a second and they snuck up on me. If I’m not concentrating on my surroundings, they get close enough and then leap at me. If I’m not listening carefully, then once they jump from outside my ki’s range, I can’t sense them until they’re already in the air coming at me. I have to be more aware of my surroundings and not become so lost in thought. I must swiftly make decisions out in the open and not hesitate.)
Kazuki tore himself away from any useless thoughts and started listening very carefully to his surroundings. He made sure there was nothing else in his surroundings but to his horror in the distance, something responded to his shout.
*ROAARRRRRRRRRRR!*
Kazuki felt his eardrums tear and he felt a warm liquid run down the sides of his face. His eardrums had burst. That wasn’t the thing that horrified him though.
His ears were already healing and he had experienced such pain plenty of times. No, what terrified him was where the roar came from. With his hearing, Kazuki could tell, whatever creature had just roared was only a few miles away and was coming toward him.
I don’t know how fast that beast is but I need to leave now befo-
*BOOM!*
The ground exploded less than 50 feet away from Kazuki as something landed heavily in front of him.
Kazuki’s ears had already healed and the sound from the creature landing in front of him gave him a flash of an image. Kazuki instincts were screaming at him at this moment and he unconsciously backed into the wall behind him. Only when he backed into one of the spikes and it stabbed into his arm did he snap out of it.
*Boom, crack, boom, crack.*
The creature slowly approached Kazuki, each one of its steps split the ground.
Kazuki had only caught a quick glance at the creature but each time it took a step, Kazuki caught an image in his head. This thing, it was big, incredibly and terrifyingly so.
It came within about 20 feet of Kazuki and stopped.
It stood outside of Kazuki’s ki range and stopped moving, therefore Kazuki could no longer make out its presence but he knew it was there. The creature made no movement, nor did it release a single breath. Kazuki couldn’t even hear a heartbeat. This creature that stretched upward for hundreds of feet and had to of weighed hundreds of thousands of pounds, right now, it was as though it had completely vanished.
Kazuki could feel cold sweat running down his back. His gut screamed at him but he could no longer move at this moment. Kazuki could tell, right now, in this very moment, the creature was watching him. Staring down at the little human who had just announced his presence in the darkness.
Was the creature curious or enraged. was it intelligent or dumb. Was it about to snatch Kazuki up at any moment and eat him or crush him beneath one of its feet. Kazuki had no clue which scared him even more.
(Why is it just watching me, what is it waiting for?)
As though to respond to Kazuki’s thoughts, at this very moment, something in the air changed.
A gush of wind poured out of the large cave beside Kazuki and with it, for the briefest of seconds, Kazuki felt something crushing down atop him.
(What is this feeling, I can’t breathe.)
Kazuki felt his body become a hundred times heavier all at once, and he collapsed to his knees. Every muscle in his body was dragged toward the ground and he could hold himself no more and he slammed face-first into the ground. His blood all rushed toward the ground as well and pooled toward his stomach. Kazuki’s focus broke and his godly aura was undone. The Azirian blood was about to go wild but before it could, this untold pressure forced it down as well. Kazuki tried to move his ki but it was sluggish beyond belief and felt like he was dragging it through a murky muddy swamp. His power was could not be used whatsoever.
Kazuki began to feel lightheaded as his organs were starting to be squeezed from the pressure and he felt his consciousness start to blacken. Just when he was on the verge of passing out-
*ROARRRRRRRRRRR!*
The large beast in front of him roared out with indignance before fleeing far away as fast as possible. The very next instant, the wind that had rushed out of the cave a moment ago, reversed and pulled all the surrounding air inside like a blackhole. Not even a second later, and the pressure upon Kazuki’s body vanished.
Kazuki could suddenly take in a deep breath and choked on the introduction of fresh air in his lungs.
*Hack cough cough, huff huff*
Kazuki laid there for a few minutes as he was still filled with terror. He thought that the moment he moved whatever just happened would kill him on the spot.
Kazuki’s ear was already to the ground and he listened with all his might for any sudden movements or anything in general. Not hearing any movement for miles, finally, Kazuki gathered his courage and jumped to his feet.
He took off as fast as he possibly could. Along the way he encountered nothing else but not even for a moment did he lower his guard. As soon as he came to the hole in the ground, he practically dove into it and quickly covered up the small entrance with the boulder he’d used before.
Kazuki felt his entire body was covered in a cold sweat and his heart was ready to explode out of his chest. At this moment, the only thought on his mind played on repeat.
(What the fuck was that! WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK WAS THAT!)
