As his eyes opened, a true shock hit his system and Kazuki nearly passed out from the misery. Several organs were crushed inside him and bones snapped and were stabbing into him. Flesh torn apart and stomach punctured, Kazuki’s blood spilled out beneath him, causing the ground to become slick.
Kazuki’s first instinct was to cry out in agony. He wished to end his suffering here and now if only to stop the pain but he couldn’t give up. He couldn’t allow himself to wallow in self-pity. Kazuki circulated his ki to his lower abdomen and started work immediately on the blood loss. He had to staunch such heavy bleeding right now or he would die before he could do anything.
His ki rushed down to his torn flesh and organs and went to work. First, his ki surrounded his organs and moved them, shifting their remains inside of him whilst simultaneously repairing and regenerating them. cells divided replicated and repaired themselves at a rapid rate visible to the naked eye. Kazuki was thankful that his body was as efficient as it was. After being enhanced time and time again, his body recovered hundreds of times faster than a normal human, aided by ki, his healing factor increased even more.
Right now, though, Kazuki was in no mood to pat himself on the back nor could he physically do so at the moment.
As his organs shifted to the right side of his body, Kazuki still had to deal with the large spike impaling him and keeping him stuck to the ground.
He wanted to cry knowing what he needed to do.
Gripping the end of the spike, Kazuki tried to breathe in deeply to prepare himself but that only caused his left lung, which was collapsed to fill with internal blood.
*Cough cough hack cough*
Blood sprayed from Kazuki’s mouth as he spat out several mouthfuls of hot blood. He had to pause from pulling himself from the spike and redirect some of his ki to drain the blood from his left lung, while at the same time plugging the hole in his lung with ki, in that way blocking any other blood from filling it back up.
Once again he grabbed the spike. As he gripped it tightly though, he felt a laceration run through his hand. The spike stabbing through him was just as sharp as the ones on the wall and cut him deeply causing another bloody wound.
Kazuki took a few shallow breaths and tried not to think of it. He counted to three in his head and pulled himself upward as quickly as he could, however, that was a mistake.
The puddle of blood pooling underneath him caused the ground to become slick like mud. Combined with his blood spilling out on the spike, at the same time both his grip slipped and his footing slid out from under him and he fell a few inched deeper on the spike.
“GUAHHHHHHHH!”
*COUGH HACK COUGH*
The wounds that were almost sealed ripped open once more and Kazuki felt his consciousness go white for an instant. The continuous waves of pain bashing his entire body brought him right back to reality. Kazuki readjusted his footing and grit his teeth. His ki was constantly on the move but at the same time it was quickly running out. He had used far too much of it, supplying it to his black ruler and his tank was already near empty.
Kazuki knew he hadn’t much time but he had to take it slow or he would slip once again. Grabbing the spike with his already cut up hand, Kazuki pushed with his feet and pulled himself upward at a weird angle. Wounds were reopening and his body was losing copious amounts of blood and energy. Kazuki clenched his jaw and he had a maddening look the entire time as he slowly pulled himself up.
One inch, two, five, ten. He was fighting off exhaustion, pain, and roaring at himself from deep within. He clenched his teeth so hard that several of them could no longer take the pressure and cracked.
(ALMOST!)
At the very tip of the spike, Kazuki felt the line between life and death but just as he felt his will fading, Nunully and Asuna’s faces appeared in his mind.
Kazuki found that final bit of strength within and kicked off the ground. His strength promptly lifted him off the ground and he flew almost a dozen feet in the air and away from the spike before he landed hard on the ground.
As soon as he hit the ground, he sent his ki to his wounds to stop the bleeding, and immediately after, his mind went black.

“Kai, should we wake him again?”
“No, that requires far too much energy and I’d rather not use it unless it’s an emergency, I’m kind of nearing my limit on that sort of thing.”
Kai held up a hand and it repeatedly went from see-through to fleshy time and time again.
Danny nodded but still added.
“If you would just teach me how to use my own energy, I could just wake him up myself.”
“And I’ve told you, again and again, the more energy you use from your soul the less of you there will be. Neither of us is among the living anymore so we can not replenish such energy unless we have some mythical treasure or some kind of miracle. If you start using your soul energy as well, eventually, like me, you will fade. Is that what you want?”
Danny went silent and couldn’t answer. He wondered what point there was for him or Kai to keep on with their existence. Wasn’t it only to help Kazuki at this point.
To use it to help Kazuki, Danny was more than willing to sacrifice his existence for a friend, especially such an existence, however, Kai still refused to show him how.
“What about those creatures that keep coming about?”
Kai gave Danny a curious look.
“So you can perceive those creatures, even though, Kazuki can’t see anything in this darkness. We who use his senses to observe the outside should not be able to see what Kazuki cannot but it seems you are tapping into his other senses. Since when did you learn to perceive things with Kazuki’s ki?”
Danny felt a little proud.
“I’ve watched you carefully for over a hundred years now and I’ve seen you do it plenty. Of course, I’d pick it up eventually. Just like you said, we can use Kazuki’s senses to observe things out there. If we can use his eyes to watch and his ears to hear, why wouldn’t we be able to use his ki to which is a part of him as well to sense things?”
Kai snorted.
“Hmph, says the guy who can’t use the power of his soul. You managed to learn that from me without teaching you but you can’t use your soul. I don’t know if your incredibly smart or incredibly stupid.”
Danny shrugged his shoulders.
“I’m still not quite sure myself. Maybe another hundred years in here and I’ll finally figure it out myself, hehe.”
The two shared a laugh but in the end, their concerns still shifted back to Kazuki.
“Little dummy is still definitely in danger but you saw that little creature from earlier. That insect looking thing came close enough to bite but that godly aura swept out and struck dread in it. That thing scurried away and dug itself a little hidey-hole. As long as the creatures aren’t too big, I think the aura will fend them off like repellent. Kazuki should be fine in those scenarios.”
“Yes but what about bigger creatures. We have no clue what’s down here. If something bigger comes by that doesn’t fear the god aura. What will we do then?”
“In that case, I will use the last of my soul to awaken Kazuki. It will be up to him then whether he lives and dies. That’s all I can really do like his older brother.”
The two became solemn after that and observed Kazuki as well as his surroundings. They watched on in silence while they hoped against hope that nothing dangerous would happen while Kazuki was unconscious.
Time passed by like a gentle summers breeze when Kazuki slowly opened his blurry eyes. At first, he was unsure if his eyes were actually open as he was still surrounded by darkness. He tried to sit up and felt sore all over followed by a sharp pain in his lower abdomen.
Kazuki instinctively inspected himself with his ki and found that he still wasn’t fully healed and that he now had a large circular scar on the side of his stomach. He gently touched it and felt the odd texture of scarred skin under his fingers as well as more pain.
(Still not healed all the way.)
Kazuki then inspected the rest of his body and found something odd. There was a concentrated amount of dark energy all throughout his body.
