Stunned didn’t even begin to explain Kazuki’s mood. Kazuki didn’t hesitate to get started and Kai showed them all how.
Kai walked over to Kazuki’s soul tree and pointed at it.
“Both of you place a hand or whatever on the side tree. It doesn’t matter what’s touching the soul tree as long as some part is in contact with it this will work.”
Danny and Kazuki shared a look before the two both stood next to the soul tree and placed a hand on it.
…
After placing their hands on the soul tree, nothing happened.
“Uh, brother, It’s not that I doubt you but, it doesn’t seem to be working.”
Kai snickered.
“Did you really think it would by simply touching it. Listen up little dummy, your soul tree is like a hub of information. Inside of it, it contains many things that make you who you are one of the things being experiences. This is your soul tree and tethered to it is Danny. What he knows, what he’s gone through you can acquire all of those things. It doesn’t stop there though, since the two of you are connected, he as well can take on your experiences and so on. The two of you can share these things freely with one another because of this connection. The way to do this is simple, you have to feel one another’s souls.”
Danny and Kazuki both felt weird hearing this and had awkward expressions. Kai chuckled before slapping the two of them on their back and teasing them.
*Heh*
“What’s the matter, afraid of a little intimacy, a little skinship between brothers?”
The way he put it caused a chill to run up Kazuki’s spine and Danny glared at Kai before slapping Kai’s hand away from his back.
Kai quickly retreated before Danny threw a punch and laughed once more.
“Hehe, my bad Danny. I know you don’t like it when people touch you but this time it’s gonna be a whole hell of a lot worse for someone like you. Sharing experiences from one soul to another sounds like the two of you are long lost lovers, bwahahahaha. You two minus well make out while you’re at it, hehahaha.”
Danny quickly tore his hand away from the tree whilst shaking his head.
“I don’t think I can do this. Kazuki I’m sorry but this is way too weird. I don’t think your gonna be able to win your fight with Groud. You’re like a brother to me but this, this just doesn’t sit right, I’m sorry.”
Kazuki felt conflicted. If he didn’t do this, he most likely wouldn’t be able to learn or use aura the way Oren can. Without those techniques, he may not be able to beat Groud and could very well die during battle.
The way Kai described it was way overboard as well. Kazuki couldn’t be mad at Danny as he as well felt off about it. At the same time as the two were feeling creeped out, Kai broke out in wild laughter.
“Bwahahahahaha! You guys really fell for it! Little dummy one and little dummy number two, hahaha.”
Confusion clearly written on their faces Kai began to explain.
“You two realize you don’t have to share every single moment with the other. You can specifically share what you want. This means you don’t have to experience the other choking their chicken or taking a dump. Danny, you can literally pick what you want out of your soul like a buffet and share just your sword forms that you’ve learned. The looks on your faces though, it was too good, way too fucking good!”
Dany and Kazuki both glared at Kai.
“You asshole! You made my skin crawl with that prank. Not funny!”
Kai shook his finger at Kazuki in delight.
“That’s where you’re wrong. Seeing the two of you panic at just the mere thought of intimacy with the other was absolutely hilarious. I’ll be storing that one for later.”
Kai waved his hand toward the sky and the clouds began to shape and form before showing his memory of the two’s nervous and freaked out expressions in the sky. Kai waved his hand again and the memory looped and began to play again and again.
Danny’s eyes were sharp at this moment and he drew the branch at his waist. A single slash raced toward the sky and chopped the cloud in half, though it wasn’t perfected yet and the cloud quickly reformed and started playing the scene out once more.
Kazuki grabbed a branch from his soul tree and broke it off. The two started to surround Kai from both sides and Kai knew he may have gone too far. With a wave of his hand, the clouds in the sky returned to normal and slowly floated on by.
“Ok ok, I stopped. Let’s get back to the matter at hand, why are you two wasting so much time.”
The two felt something boil inside but decided it was better to let it go. Not necessarily fully let it go but just for now let it go and get him back later.
Kazuki and Danny once more placed a hand on the soul tree as Kai instructed them what to do next.
“Danny this is really easy so don’t mess up and reveal all of your deepest darkest secrets. That would be very embarrassing and even though your dead, you’d never be able to live it down, so don’t fuck up. All you have to do is use the energy from your soul, the same energy you use every time you train with my sword forms. Use that very same energy to isolate both the memories and experiences you wish to impart to Kazuki. Once you have that, will it directly into the soul tree. When you’ve done that, your part is over.”
Danny did just as he was told. Concentrating on all of the training he’s done until now. Every movement, every flow of energy, every time he’s controlled the path of wind as it cut out from his branch, every sword form, he willed it forth and injected it all directly into the soul tree.
“Kazuki, your part is equally as simple so don’t mess it up, little dummy. All you have to do is focus on this new flow of energy inside your soul tree. Once you grasp it, meld it together with the rest of your soul, accept it as your own and it will be your own.”
Kazuki shut his eyes and sensed his soul tree in its entirety. He felt strands of energy constantly flowing through it like a highway for power. Inside of his soul tree, every strand of energy seemed identical to the other, understandable as it was all his energy. Right away though, something stood out. A foreign strand of energy moving with its own purpose and with its own characteristics. Kazuki knew immediately that this was what Danny shared with him. Kazuki willed his own energy forth and surrounded the foreign energy and dragged it out of the soul tree and into Kazuki.
As soon as the energy entered him, there was no discomfort whatsoever as it blended within perfectly. As though it was always there, as though it were second nature, Kazuki knew how to use the first two sword forms with almost scary perfection. The third one as well was there but because Danny had yet to master it, it was unsteady but still, it was now a part of him.
Kazuki took a step away from his soul tree and grasped the branch from earlier in his palm. A moment ago he had threatened to cave his brother’s skull in with it and he had planned to use it as a simple club. Now, it was different, something was different. Just holding it with a loose grip, it felt natural. Kazuki slowly placed the branch at his side and took a stance. It felt like muscle memory. It felt like he had done it 100’s of thousands of times, no even more than that. He had used swords a few times back on Earth when he trained with his Granny Master but this was different. Kazuki could feel real power welling up inside of him and flowing towards the branch in his hand and he subconsciously opened his mouth and called out.
“1st Form Blade of Wind…Howl for me!”
Kazuki drew the branch from his side with perfect form. The branch and his arm seemed to disappear as he slashed outward with terrifying speed. As he did this, the wind was torn apart and sounded out like a whistling howl. At the same time, the branch seemed to divide into and then split once more making three distinct branches as he cut through the air. From the looks of it, it would be difficult to tell which branch was the real one and which branches were mere illusions.
Kazuki’s hand and the blade stopped instantly and he stared at his extended arm dumbfoundedly.
(Even though brother said it would be easy, even though he said it was like a cheat. I didn’t think he would be so fucking accurate. This…This is 100% a cheat. Beyond that even. For me to get such a technique that took Danny more than 100 years inside of my soul world to master, to get it in an instant. This is insane…Absolutely…insane.)
