Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 3
There was no pain from having his arm torn off and eaten. There was no agony from the large amount of blood flowing freely from his wound. No, he felt no pain as Azirian’s never did in the first place. Still, even without feeling the pain he still felt something. Seeing a human rip one of his limbs off and eat a part of his body. Shock was the only way to ex[plain it.
He had lived all his life believing humans were weak and feeble, tiny and insignificant who were meant to be ruled and consumed when bored. This wasn’t just a belief but was a simple fact, yet everything he knew was being flipped upside down in a single moment.
The human before him was stronger than he, tougher and it was a reverse of the food chain as well.
(This monster, how has he not been taken over by my blood. Once it’s inside a human body, it barely takes a second or two before they succumb to Azirian blood yet this…this monster in human form is perfectly fine. I have to flee! I have to escape at my fastest speed possible before he kills me!)
What this Azirian saw was only half of what actually happened. Yes Kazuki ate the arm but he was well aware of what Azirian blood could do to him, for he had lived with it inside of himself for many months. As soon as the pieces of flesh entered his mouth, Kazuki had drained the blood from them with his aura. At the same time, he surrounded the blood inside his body before it could spread anywhere and then a great flame rose up within him and he burned the Azirian blood within himself until there was nothing left. The description of this took longer than the actual destruction of the Azirian blood inside him and in fact, the blood was destroyed the very moment the flesh was inside his mouth.
From the Azirian’s eyes though, all he saw was a human eat some of his flesh and not have any negative effects. This instilled fear and fucked with the Azirian’s mind to a heaven-defying degree.
The Azirian was still putting his body together after Kazuki had smashed him into the ground but with this feeling of imminent death looming over his head, he forgo his body’s regeneration and decided to put his all into escaping at this moment in time.
In an instant, two sets of large wings exploded outward from his upper and lower back and grew to 4 times his body’s size. Flapping them a single time caused the wind to kick up a funnel, forming it into a tornado. At the same time, he had already ascended upward a thousand…no…Just as his body began to leave the ground, Kazuki flashed forward and grabbed one of his legs and pulled him back down to the ground. With a flick of his wrist, Kazuki slammed him into the rocks like a whip being let loose.
*CRACK*
Bones broke and protruded from the Azirian’s chest and his body was mangled.
Kazuki tore the leg off and waved it teasingly.
“And just who said you were allowed to leave. I haven’t finished my meal just yet.”
Right after he said that Kazuki proceeded to do the exact thing he had done earlier and consumed the leg in a few large bites.
“Why does your flesh taste so bad. Oh well, can’t complain when one has a free meal laid out before them. Give me your other leg, you won’t be needing it.”
“NO! GET…GET AWAY FROM ME YOU MONSTER!”
Kazuki ignored the panic in the Azirians voice and proceeded to tear off his other leg before munching on it.
The Azirian was stunned but he still was not ready to give up. He didn’t even try to heal his body and instead made a hundred legs and arms grow out of his body all at once. All of these arms and legs became sharp like bladed weapons and were launched at Kazuki’s vitals. At the same time, the Azrian used one of these extra arms to decapitate itself. With that, it grew tiny limbs all over its’ head and drilled into the ground, burrowing in like a mole.
Kazuki wasn’t phased by all of these bladed fleshly limbs shooting at his body and slapped them all away as if they were gnats buzzing in the wind.
He knew that this attack was a desperate distraction. Right after he slapped the arms and legs away, Kazuki lifted his foot and came down with a raging stomp.
*BANG*
With strength alone, the ground cracked and broke apart. Large boulder-sized rocks lifted up and shattered as they exploded upward and outward from the epicenter. For nearly a thousand feet in diameter and almost 100 feet down, the ground separated forming Kazuki’s very own trench. The ring on Kazuki’s finger lit up and all of the boulders and other rocks rose up from the ground as he controlled the element of Gordonia with ease.
The trench became clear and at the very bottom, the Azirian was struggling to find a new path. Just a sit was about to drill even deeper into the ground, Kazuki waved his hand once more. His ring lighting up, a small amount of orichalcum flew out and raced toward the Azirian. The Azirian saw its fate and tried to run away but it was too late. The lump of metal changed shape and opened up like a largemouth before swallowing the Azirian into it. It had been caught in a box of orichalcum.
With a wag of his finger, Kazuki commanded the box of metal.
“Come.”
The box reversed its course and flew backward, landing perfectly in the palm of Kazuki’s hand.
The box was as big as a head, yet it held what remained of the Azirian.
Kazuki made a small opening on the side of the box and taunted the Azirian one final time.
“Your sister made a far better opponent than you. This fight was one-sided. I’m disappointed in you Azirian’s.”
The Azirian knew his fate was sealed and that his death was upon him. His fear mixed with his hatred and he roared at Kazuki.
“YOU BASTARD! MY QUEEN WILL SLAUGHT
*FWHOOSH!*
Before the Azirian cold finish, Kazuki shot a blue fireball into the tiny opening and burned the Azirian, reducing him to ash in an instant.
The battle was over a mere minute after it started. It could have been done and settled in a second but Kazuki wanted to test some of his strength. It was one thing to spar with Oren who was a friend and wouldn’t fight to kill than to fight an opponent who truly wished to tear your heart out. Still, the opponent’s strength was so inferior to his that he gained nothing from the fight and he decided to stop playing around and end things.
Right after, the fight was over, Kazuki stored the box inside his ring and the piece of metal rejoined the large chunk sitting in the center of the ring. The moment he did that, Kazuki could sense dark energy moving about within his compass.
Looking at his golden compass, he knew that Zetrazz had witnessed the entire exchange from beginning to end and he wondered if the odd titan was satisfied watching this or not. Knowing that Zetrazz wasn’t a fan of Satorus playing with opponents, he probably wouldn’t have liked how Kazuki handled the fight but in the end, Zetrazz released Kazuki and it was his decision whether he played with his opponent or not.
Kazuki wondered if he should just store his compass inside his magic ring.
Kazuki’s thoughts began to turn to the compass’s ability. Many times when Kazuki was lost or unsure of what to do, it had been the compass that guided him. By pouring his magic into it, a glowing arrow would form above the compass and point him the way he needed to go. He had done this a few times and every time it had led him to the next place he needed to be. One of the times had led him directly to the school where the summoning circle would drag Asuna, Sam, and Ryuta to this world. Looking back on it now, Kazuki had so many questions as to how the compass could lead him to such places but now he understood. A god was observing the entire time and it was that very god that led his path forward.
Kazuki became curious and poured some of his magic into the compass.
…
Just as he thought, nothing happened. Zetrazz had removed the godly aura from the compass and had removed the eyes from the compass. How could it lead him, if there was no sight to see where one was going.
(Father, just why did you give this to me.)
In the end, Kazuki decided not to store his compass inside his ring. It still meant something to him and at the same time, he might draw Zetrazz’s ire. If he placed it into his ring, it might cloud Zetrazz’s vision and that could piss the odd titan off. It was best not to risk it.
Placing the compass back around his neck, Kazuki looked toward the north and could see the Rin mountain range.
(It’s time I return.)
