Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 4

Kazuki looked to the north and could see the edge of the Rin mountain range. From here to there it was a little over 100 miles.

(It’s time I return.)

Kicking off the ground, Kazuki’s blurred and left a myriad of afterimages behind. One leap brought him 10 miles in an instant while 10 brought him to the foot of the mountain range.

(I’m finally back!)

Taking another step, Kazuki was directly in the Rin mountain range now.

All around him a frozen blizzard raged. This storm was meant to dissuade others from venturing further. It could easily kill those below the 3rd stage and When Kazuki first arrived this cold was something his friends had trouble with. At that time he too could only withstand this numbing icy storm by creating a barrier of ki around himself whilst creating fire with magic to keep warm.

Kazuki took in a deep breath, the cold air rushing into his nose and penetrating his lungs. This cold air however was now nothing. After consuming some of Satorus’s flesh as well as going through the Adrola ape baptism in ape city, Kazuki’s body was incredibly tough. Not only that, but he also had Danny’s element, that the godly aura had stolen before Danny’s soul became connected with Kazuki’s.

The frosty air that could freeze a person in seconds, to Kazuki it felt more akin to a breeze during springtime. Not enough to cause any discomfort or turn him into a popsicle but just enough for him to barely acknowledge it.

Kazuki jumped twice before landing on the highest mountain peak in this mountain range. Filling his lungs with ki, he excitedly yelled at the top of his lungs.

“I’M BACK!!!”

Kazuki’s voice shook a nearby mountain or two and caused several avalanches in the process. The storm which raged and could kill in seconds was blown backward and torn through by his voice and the storm was silenced for a few moments. Kazuki’s voice continued onward, echoing and bouncing through the mountain range and extending outward for a few more miles before finally dying down.

Kazuki’s eyes shined as he looked about, wondering from which angle Glacious would open his tiny world and shout at him for messing with his mountain.

Fort some reason he was giddy to hear a few harsh words and get a scolding from his senior. If only because he knew it came from somebody that cared about him. Even though Kazuki found a friend in Oren, he had not known him long enough for the two to really say they care for one another like that. Not being around those that think about your safety or care about you for close to ten months was something draining in its own way. Add to the fact that your surroundings can attack you at any moment and there were dangers around every corner that could not be seen, the amount of distress one would have to deal with was something that could easily lead one to insanity.

Kazuki’s thoughts ran wild as he thought about embracing Asuna and Nunully. He wanted to pig out and eat with Mei and Etora until he was stuffed to the gills. He wanted to hear Glacious complain in anger about his stuff being messed with, flirt a little with Lamia, compliment Tsura’s cooking, Have a drink or two with Sam, and have a few stupid laughs with Shin.

Kazuki yeared for such warmth for such comfort but as he stood there waiting, he could see that something was wrong.

Kazuki scanned the entire mountain range but he saw no rips or distortions anywhere. Space was not folding and a doorway in the sky never opened.

Bad thoughts began to fill Kazuki’s head. Kazuki calmed himself before shouting once more.

“SENIOR LIZARD! ETORA! CAN YOU HEAR ME! I HAVE RETURNED FROM THE TRENCH! OPEN THE TINY WORLD!”

After his voice echoed out, a strange quiet filled the entire mountain range. Kazuki’s thoughts began to stir once more.

(For no doorway to open to Glacious’s tiny world means either he can’t open it or he’s not here. Glacious is the only one capable of opening his tiny world. For him to not be able to open it would mean he has weakened even further to the point that he can’t use space magic. That shouldn’t be the case though. The soul mark weakening him should have been dealt with. Before I went into the abyssal trench, I witnessed him use big brothers 3rd sword form, Severing Tempest. That move is capable of cutting through energy. With it, he should have been able to destroy that lion-dog-faced soul mark once and for all. He should be at or near peak condition after all this time, yet he hasn’t opened the door to his dimension world. Is he really not here then?)

Kazuki felt there was only one way to test he could perform to see if Glacious really was there or not.

Pulling out the block of orichalcum, he shaped it, changing its form from a large two-story block of metal to that of a humongous war hammer. The head of which was as big as a truck kun, while the rest became the rod of the weapon.

Kazuki flew up into the sky with orangish-red flames lit underneath his feet. Diving downward, the flames beneath his feet burned brighter turning blue, causing him to accelerate greater and greater. The spee at which he traveled caused a wall of air to form in front of him and slow him slightly with resistance. Now that Kazuki could use his magic again, he could multi-task. He used his magic to fly and accelerate and at the same time he used wind aura to change the stream of air from blocking him into one that flowed around him.

*BOOM!*

Kazuki accelerated further, causing the air to boom as he passed by it.

Swinging the hammer downward atop the peak of one of the random mountains in this range, the natural outcome came as it should.

*CRACK-KA-BOOOOOOM!*

The moment his hammer made contact with the mountain, the entire top half of the mountain shattered into millions of debris. Before the following explosion could send the shards and pieces in every direction, the rest of the force from Kazuki’s swing had made it to the base of the mountain, and the bottom half shattered as well. The bottom half only milliseconds behind the top half exploded and the top half and bottom half debris collided with one another, causing all of the debris to smash together resulting in a large chunk of the debris turning into dust instantaneously.

The wind escaping in every direction, once the debris collided was sucked back inward toward the source of the explosion, aka Kazuki and his hammer. Since he had changed the flow of the air around him though, the forces intercepted each other and the wind turned into a large tornado with Kazuki at its center. Any debris that wasn’t instantly turned to dust, flew and spiraled around the tornado, creating a deadly storm that could shred flesh and grind bone.

Kazuki stored his hammer and returned it to its original shape of a large block of metal.

(This should get their attention. If not, then Glacious really isn’t here and even if the others are inside his tiny world, I can’t communicate with them nor see them.)

Kazuki waited for a while. After almost ten minutes, the tornado raging around him, finally ran out of steam and dissipated. This caused all of the debris to fly out all over the mountain range, in turn making the mountains look like they were trashed. Knowing how Glacious is about his thing, this should have naturally brought him out or at least garnered his attention but after waiting for several more hours, nothing had come about.

After waiting for a few hours Kazuki’s stomach was growling. leaping over to a nearby mountain, with a wave of his hand, his ring lit up and he carved out a cave into the side of a mountain. Now that he could use magic again, he shaped the interior to look like a regular room with a bed of stone and a toilet along with a few other things he may need.

(If Glacious isn’t here, there’s no point in shouting and destroying things. I simply need to wait for him to return or rather I could go gather information. Before I fell, my sister had become enemies with Glacious. Glacious wouldn’t just leave for nothing, not when he has those he promised to protect like Nunully and Lamia. If he’s out then there must be a reason and it’s most likely Fera.)

*Grrrowl*

As Kazuki was contemplating his options and his next steps, his stomach started growling with ferocity. Sitting down at a table, Kazuki looked through his ring. Besides the large chunk of orichalcum, there was also food from Oren, several corpses of whale beasts, the feet of Satorus as well as…

(I forgot all about this.)

Kazuki broke off a small piece of crystal within his ring and pulled it out of his ring. In his hand sat a dark elemental crystal.

(To reach the 5th stage one needs to absorb a shit ton of energy. I have a column of this crystal nearly 6 miles long. With this, I can enter the 5th stage in a short amount of time and then make my next move when I have even greater strength.)

Kazuki quickly figured out his next step and after filling his stomach, he looked to the dark crystal within his ring. As if to confirm his decision, the dark energy within his compass moved about wildly.

(Let’s do this!)
