Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 75

As Tozu and Sasai slowly circled around two of the other Ancient beasts, the red-bearded man felt uneasy.

“Young master Alodeus somethings not right!”

The moment he said that Kazuki’s fake smile faded and he called out.

“Danny.”

The darkness in Danny’s head vanished and was replaced with a bright silver glow. The Magic core in his chest went from zero to a hundred in an instant and he came to life. His arms and legs in an instant wrapped entirely around Alodeus small frame. Alodeus was a mere 5 feet or so so Danny’s body encompassed him fully like a coffin.

Alodeus’s eyes went wide in disbelief as everything unfolded all at once. With Danny’s movement, Kazuki, and the others made their move. Kazuki had already circulated his ki and used strengthening aura. Blue flames erupted beneath his feet and he accelerated faster than the red-bearded man could follow.

Like a vanishing phantom, Kazuki was there and then he wasn’t. The very next moment the red-bearded man felt a sharp pain in his back and chest.

*Cough*

Blood ran down his chin. Looking down, the red-bearded man saw a hand covered in a metal glove piercing out from his chest.

Kazuki’s voice was low as he spoke coldly next to the man’s ear.

“You were right not to trust me.”

The very next instant Kazuki pulled his hand back and took the Ancient beast’s spine with it. With his other hand, he sealed the beast’s core and stored it in his ring, all in the blink of an eye.

Next to him, Shaila held the other Ancient beast by his wrist. With a single pull, Shaila’s strength surged as she ripped the man apart, splitting him vertically about halfway down until one of his arms was torn from his shoulder.

The Ancient beast died in an instant. Shaila plunged her hand into the chest and removed the core, sealing it on its way out of the body. Licking the blood off of the core, her eyes were full of lust. It seems she was fond of the red iron taste.

She had finished her opponent nearly as fast as Kazuki did which surprised him. He now understood she was much stronger than both Sasai and her husband Tozu. Speaking of which, the two had combined their strength to fight the other Ancient beast but together they were just barely managing to push the Ancient beast into the defensive.

Shaila chuckled with the back of her hand slightly covering her mouth.

*haha*

“Dear, do you need some help? Where’s all the strength you showed me last night in the bedroom? Don’t tell me I wore you out that much.”

Tozu and Sasai were giving it their all but it was still taking some time. Kazuki knew they didn’t have such a luxury as to waste time so he shouted over.

“Shaila there’s no time! Let’s end it now!”

Shaila got the memo and she stopped playing. She raced forward along with Kazuki but the Ancient beast saw them coming.

The Beast roared out at the top of its lungs.

“I’LL TAKE AT LEAST ONE OF YOU WITH ME!!”

Before anyone could get to him, the beast drew upon the energy in its core and self-destructed right there and then.

Tozu, Sasai, and Shaila all made protective barriers out fire, wind, and darkness all in an instant as this explosion rushed out in every direction.

Kazuki’s magic could not defend against an Ancient beast’s core exploding and he wasn’t sure his body could handle all this our energy at such a close range. Not only that but behind him was the city of Edngaul.

Kazuki’s ring flashed with purple light and his body was covered in Motozu scales from head to toe. At the same time, he deployed all of the Motozu scales from his ring and used his aura to lift them up and form a large wall behind him.

The wall was a few miles high ad a few miles wide and right as it finished deploying, the explosion hit it.

*KA-BOOOOOOOM!*

The sky lit up with bright light and the air constantly tore apart and reformed as dark clouds gathered from all of the excess energy forming arcs of lightning to crack across the air.

This all happened in a flash and a moment later the explosion faded away and the sky returned to normal.

When the dust settled, Tozu and Sasai both wore a bitter look on their faces. They had tried their best but the two of them couldn’t take down a single opponent. Shaila tried to comfort Tozu by wrapping her arms around him but he shook her off.

Shaila didn’t expect this at all.

“Dear?”

Tozu shook his head.

“Sorry. I’m just disappointed. I thought we could finish him but the bastard killed himself. Damn coward!”

Shaila understood and turned to Kazuki.

“What happened exactly?”

Kazuki gave a quick explanation and the three understood.

Tozu’s eyes burned with killing intent.

“If what this is how it is, then we hold the advantage right now. They don’t know that the others are dead. We need to go right now and catch them off guard while we’re still ahead.”

“I agree but there might be another solution.”

Kazuki pointed at Danny behind him. Right now Danny looked more akin to a large ball of metal instead of a humanoid figure. Every so often one could hear small bangs echoing from within as Alodeus tried to escape.

Danny slowly opened up part of his body, revealing only Alodeus head. There was clear rage and shock and denial in his gaze.

“You fucking human bastard! Release me! Let me out right now or I’ll kill you!”

Tozu didn’t understand.

“Why keep the brat alive?”

“The leader of these fellows is called Dreunz and he is the grandfather of this brat. We may be able to bargain and use this kid as a hostage. We could trade his life for an alliance and then

*BAM!*

Before Kazuki could finish his sentence, Shaila had gathered dark energy around her fist and delivered it through Alodeus head. Pulling her hand out, the kid’s head had been reduced to an empty shell of goopy meat, blood, and bone. She then retrieved the beast core and sealed it before the soul fragment inside could detonate it.

Kazuki’s expression went flat.

“Why did you do that? We could have used him.”

Shaila shook her head.

“That’s not how the world works and you know it Kazuki. Once we hand over the brat, there’s nothing to stop this Dreunz guy from going back on his word, not a god damn thing. If you really believe there was, then you truly are naive but I don’t think you think that way. Not only that but we’ve already killed three of their people already. Do you think we could really turn over the brat and we all go on our way as if nothing has happened or transpired? When it comes to Ancient beasts, things can not be over and done until things are over and done. Once one side spills the blood of the other. It’s not over until one side is completely wiped out. At least that’s the situation we find ourselves in. It would be nice if things could end right here and now but as long as we still live, they will come after us, all of us. Therefore, there is no such thing as hostages or bargaining chips.”

Shaila said this so matter of factly that Kazuki blood began to rush. He understood this himself. It was just like things between him and his sister Fera. One side would never let the other go and live in peace. Besides, neither wanted peace. Kazuki could never let Fera go and he had no intention of tucking away in some corner of the world to live out his days as a peaceful old coot. No, he would stop at nothing to see his sister crumble in front of him and die.

“Right, my thinking wasn’t quite right. One side will live and the other must be pulled up by the roots until there’s nothing left.”

Right after he said this, several cries and screams echoed out from behind him. Kazuki’s wall of scales had deflected most of the energy but it wasn’t enough. Storing the scales away, everyone got a good look at the destruction left in the wake of a beast core going off. The explosion had been far too big for a simple wall to deflect all of it.

Most of the city was perfectly protected but half a mile of the city was reduced to dust and the resulting spread of pure magical energy spread a few miles into the city and stole the life of thousands in an instant.

From the people’s perspective inside the city, the sky had lit up almost blindingly so. The very next moment, thousands had vanished from this world and been reduced to nothingness. The fall out of the pure energy had then spread a few miles around and killed thousands more.

Sasai didn’t care much.

“Kazuki you said we have the advantage, we must go!”

Kazuki looked at the panicked city below.

“We have to help them!”

Tozu and Sasai shared a look but Shaila stepped forward.

“Dear, the faster we do this, the faster we can be on Dreunz trail.”

Tozu, Sasia, and Shaila quickly drew in the excess energy from the city and then fired off a mass amount of magic into the sky and away from the city. A pillar of flame, a beam of dark energy, as well as another pillar of fire, flew harmlessly into the sky for miles and miles until all of the pure excess energy was drained away.

As for the rest of the damage, they had no time to do more.

Kazuki felt bitterness in his heart. It was he who drew them here and so he shared blame.

(Thousands lost their lives today because I led them here. Forgive me.)

There was nothing more he could do right now. He had to catch Dreunz and kill him and the others while he still holds the advantage. There may not be another chance like this.

Kazuki turned away from the city before flying toward the north.

Danny and the others quickly followed after him.
