Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 81

The light came crashing down upon Kazuki like a mountain but the moment this power struck the Motozu scales, it was like the world became inverted.

All of this energy was reflected off the scales and amplified as it raced directly back to Dreunz. With such a profound force of energy coming back at point-blank range, Dreunz was done for… or rather, he should have been.

The light appeared before him with crushing heat and force but Dreunz simply opened a palm.

*TSHHHHHHH*

Dreunz shifted the angel of his palm ever so slightly but this small degree in change caused the light to bounce upward and fire off upward and out of the ocean like an erupting volcano.

The water in the surrounding area was thrown into turbulence and a large air pocket formed as the water was forced up and outward. A large dry gap opened between Kazuki and Dreunz as all of the water for several hundred feet was pulled away from them. They now stood in the center of an open whirlpool, not a drop of water to be found on either of them.

“Did you really think that those scales were your trump card. I know all about them. I saw how you killed the Motozu with metal rods, I know you are in a pact with other Ancient beasts. I know of it all and now that water no longer remains between us, you can no longer stave off my attack. You killed my grandson and for that, you will die.”

Kazuki shrugged.

“Things aren’t set in stone.”

Dreunz rage was no longer something he could contain. This human before him had murdered his grandson and would now pay. There was no longer a reason to hear Kazuki speak such nonsense.

Dreunz held two fingers up high above him before pointing them at Kazuki. The moment these fingers descended, so to did a dozen swords made from golden light.

*Bang thud thud bang bang*

They moved so fast that Kazuki had no time to avoid any of them but why would he avoid them with the Motozu scales covering his body. To pierce Kazuki with these blades of light, however, was not Dreunz’s goal. Each blade missed Kazuki by a hair and staked themselves around Kazuki, forming a prison. Kazuki was stuck and couldn’t move.

(This is!?)

“Curious you filthy human? Motozu’s scales are indeed tough, tougher than most things in this world but they are not unbreakable nor can they reflect everything. Let me show you the true power of this beast.”

The moment Dreunz said this, two large white curved horns grew from his forehead. At the same time, all of his skin began to peel away and was replaced by snow-white short hair. Dreunz body morphed and grew until he was several miles tall and several long.

He took on the shape of a white horse with two curved horns.

When he opened his mouth to speak, there was only hatred.

“Let me break those scales you are so proud of.”

Golden white light began to gather in Dreunz mouth and with it, darkness was dispersed away and color seemed to fade from the world. Between his horns, another energy gathered, Kazuki could not see its color because the color was fading in the world but he could sense it.

(The element of Space! What is he trying to do!?)

Just as he thought that he could sense Dreunz was using the element of space around him. An odd pressure he had felt less than a handful of times was pushed down upon him.

(This…This feeling is similar to when I was teleported. It’s as if the hand of a god is holding my body in place. I… I can’t move from here!!!)

Not only could Kazuki not move but the power of space touched the edge of the scales. At first, the energy was reflected away but not even a second later it came flying back, amplified. This happened again and again and again in quick succession until the edge of the scales began to warp and bend.

They were undamaged but somehow their shape started to change and small gaps began to form between all of the scales. Kazuki could feel space magic holding the scales apart, creating all of these gaps.

(With even a tiny gap, that dangerous power collecting above me will breakthrough. If even a fraction of it gets in, I’ll be reduced to ashes!)

Kazuki’s blood ran cold at this moment.

He instinctively used strengthening aura and circulated his ki with everything he had.

He tried to flex his muscles and move but he couldn’t budge even an inch.

(No!)

With all of his strength, he could not break free from this space magic. He then tried using flames. He created blur fire around his entire body. It amplified from the Motozu scales and shot forward but as soon as it left his side, small purple flickers sparked up around him and all of his fire was then sucked into these tiny flickers of purple. Dreunz’s space magic was swallowing up his flames like tiny black holes. In a flash, all of his fire had disappeared and the gaps between the scales grew larger.

(Think think think. Not enough time, have to escape, have to get away.)

Kazuki’s eyes glanced at the ground beneath him. His ring glowed dully and the dry ocean floor underneath him opened up. He created a large hole but his body refused to fall. Dreunz’s power held him firmly in place.

(These fucking light swords, I have to get rid of them first.)

Dark energy materialized around Kazuki and he made a sphere out of it. With a thought, he sent it flying towards one of the swords but once more tiyn purple flickers of light sprouted up and sucked in all of his dark energy.

Up in the sky, a large ball of golden light had formed in Dreunz’s mouth and he spit it out.

Kazuki’s heart stopped at this moment but thankfully the ball remained hovering in the air. Dreunz opened his mouth again and more energy started to gather.

(This fucking sadist, he’s going for overkill! I have to hurry up. I have to leave! My magic only gets swallowed up by his control over space. what about my aura!?)

Kazuki switched gears and no longer sed strengthening aura. Instead, he gathered his aura around him and made it spin.

(Just like Oren taught me.)

Kazuki’s aura spun and rotated. Its pressure changed and he focused it on a single point. Dead center of one of the light swords.

(Aura Shot!)

He called out in his mind and willed this shot forward.

*Bang!*

His aura shot landed in the very center of one of the light swords and a large crack appeared on it.

(Yes, one more and it will break!)

Kazuki gathered his aura once more but before he could even make it start to spin, the cracked light sword absorbed light from the surroundings and repaired itself in an instant.

(This…Impossible!)

It took Kazuki half a second to fire off an aura shot but the sword healed itself in half of that time.

(Again, stronger this time.)

Kazuki’s aura rotated and the pressure focused on a single point. This one was stronger than the first and had everything Kazuki could pull out. With a thought, he shot it forward.

*Bam*

Kazuki’s eyes widened in disbelief.

(The sword…theirs no damage this time. How can this be!? My aura shot was stronger than the first one yet there was no damage at all. Did his sword actually become tougher after that first shot?)

The air began to grow hotter as the light energy above became more and more intense. All of the hairs on Kazuki’s body started to stand.

(My aura is too weak. If only it were stronger…)

It was like a bolt of lightning hit him when he thought of this.

(The Rukia fruit!)

Kazuki remembered the rare fruit he had obtained from Sasai. The fruit was incredibly rare and only grew near underwater volcanoes. If one consumed it, it had a special property that made one’s soul and aura many times stronger.

Kazuki’s ring flashed and his mind sunk into his ring. Inside sat many treasures but right now at this moment, the most important one in the entire world was a boulder-sized fruit. Bright yellow on one side and blue on the other. With his will, he carved up the fruit inside his ring before taking it out. Using his ring he could take out objects within a certain area. Kazuki chose to take out mouth-sized pieces of this fruit, directly inside of his mouth.

This though was still a problem since he couldn’t chew. Using his ki, he forcefully pulled bite-sized pieces down his throat and into his stomach. The moment a few pieces entered his gut, a rush of energy erupted within him.
