Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 86
Dreunz on one side and Kazuki on the other, they charged forward, racing toward one another before colliding like two mighty mountains.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
The world around them trembled and both fell out of the sky.
Dreunz felt cold sweat dripping down his face and pain in his shoulder as his entire right arm and a large portion of his ribs and hip were now gone. Exposed bone, blood, and other internal organs were on full display for all to see.
Dreunz’s eyes glowed with golden-white light and he finally stopped falling. A thin layer of light spread over the right side of his body and prevented anything from falling out of him, sealing his deep and ugly wounds.
(I suffered greatly but so to did he. This human is still that a human, My blow to him should be fatal. He will die soo
Dreunz’s thoughts froze as he looked in the distance. What he witnessed, truly terrified him. Kazuki hovered silently in the air. His right side, just as Dreunz was completely obliterated but unlike Dreunz, Kazuki did not use any magic to seal his injuries. Instead, before Dreunz very eye, Kazuki’s body was rapidly closing up. The shattered ribs inside his torso fused together and blood flowed around naturally. Shredded organs were still full of vitality and even though Kazuki’s wounds closed in seconds, Dreunz could see the Kazuki’s organs fully regenerate just before Kazuki’s body closed.
Dreunz felt a chill run down his spine as he watched this. He thought Kazuki’s leg and arm would regenerate as well but when they didn’t, only then could he release a genuine sigh of relief.
(He’s human but still a monster. This experience has shown me the truth. I can’t conquer him with my magic nor can I dominate him physically. If we continue to trade blows, it will simply end in our mutual destruction. I can’t fight him alone. I need the rest of my brethren from the east. I have to return and tell them everything as soon as possible. Taken the northern territories, will have to be paused for now.)
Dreunz felt a gut-wrenching pit in his stomach. He didn’t know what Kazuki was but to Dreunz, he was still the murderer who killed his precious grandson. He had tricked them so well in the beginning that Dreunz felt like a complete fool. Only after he had used the Gosechu box to reveal what had happened in the past and show him what Kazuki had done did Dreunz know what type of fiend Kazuki was.
To leave his grandsons killer. Not just him but Shaila and the others had also escaped his grasp while his side lost everyone. Such shame, humiliation, and grief was unbearable.
At the same time in the air, Kazuki’s one black eye looked over his broken body and missing limbs with disappointment.
“This human shell is far too weak. It can only handle this much. The healing factor is a slight surprise though. Even without eating, I can heal this rapidly. I’ll need time to make this shell fully mine. Once I eat this soul, this body will not reject me.”
Out of the corner of his black eye, Kazuki saw golden light gather beneath Dreunz as he fled.
“Such a snack wishes to run. I can’t have that.”
The strange aura around Kazuki rose before he accelerated forward and he gave chase.
Dreunz felt the strange aura behind him grow and felt its pressure on his back.
(This bastard, even like that he’s trying to catch me!)
Dreunz increased his speed becoming a blur of after images. Kazuki as well increased his pace.
No matter where Dreunz went, Kazuki was right there with him and he was only closing the gap between the two.
Closer, closer, and closer.
Dreunz was using his light to keep his wounds sealed as well as fly forward. He had to divide his power and because of that, his speed was not what it should be. All this while, the strange aura around Kazuki stretched out and tried to grab Dreunz and pull him back.
Dreunz had to, in turn, counter this aura. Constantly as they flew, he was batting away this strange devilish aura while still flying away but this was difficult with the wounds he had. Not only that, the feeling he got from the strange aura was unsettling. He felt if it got too close, if it touched his physical body and entered his soul world, it would crush his soul and destroy his very existence. This only compounded and added to the pressure.
The strange aura split itself and became like arms and hands that stretched out and grabbed at Dreunz’s aura.
Dreunz tried to push this devilish aura back but it was simply overwhelming. It started to grab his aura and tear at it.
Dreunz felt panic. He knew this was no time to hesitate and he gathered the element of space around him in an attempt to teleport away. He didn’t use it sooner because there was no need. He was stronger and faster than everyone here and was winning the entire time. His enemies were in his hands and were there for him to manipulate and play with but all of that changed when Kazuki changed.
He couldn’t face this strange human with magic nor combat him physically. After taking such a grievous wound, he understood his limits and knew he had to flee so he tried to teleport away but unfortunately.
*Suhhh*
Kazuki opened his mouth and devoured the space energy that had just gathered.
Licking his lips, that demonic voiced echoed out once again.
“This taste, is that the element of space? Were you trying to leave me? Food, you do not have my permission to leave.”
The aura seeping out from Kazuki’s body grew once more from devouring the space energy and because of this, the strange aura divided again and more hands of aura stretched out and grabbed at Dreunz’s own aura.
“NO! STAY AWAY FROM ME MONSTER!”
This strange aura tore away at Dreunz’s and began to reel him in like a flailing little fish.
Dreunz struggled and fought. His aura increasing as he focused it on certain spots. He was able to destroy a few of these hands made from aura here and there but his speed in this aspect was slow. At this point, Kazuki was now only a few feet away from Dreunz. Opening his mouth once more, Kazuki began to inhale Dreunz’s aura.
Dreunz’s eyes widened in both shock and horror as he felt a tearing pain as his soul was being ripped apart from inside his own soul world.
If he didn’t cut the connection, Dreunz feared his actual soul would be eaten. Immediately he cut part of his aura. Part of it retreated back into his soul world while the part he cut off had been swallowed up.
His face pale from both fear, his wounds, and a large piece of his soul being eaten. Dreunz tried to fight back. He tried to punch Kazuki but Kazuki simply took it as if it were nothing.
Kazuki’s body was still changing and growing. After devouring that much energy in an instant, the odd aura along with Kazuki’s body evolved once more. The missing limbs regenerated back stronger and tougher than ever. Every wound vanished as though they had never been. Now his entire body was black from layers upon layers of the ancient language covering him. One eye was entirely black and now the other one began to change and slowly started to turn black as well.
(This monster. Before our strength was near equal but now, he doesn’t even flinch from my blow. I have to get away I have to escape right now!)
Once again purple energy gathered around Dreunz, at the same time a small layer of golden white gathered beneath even that like a small blanket.
The moment this space magic materialized and Dreunz tried to teleport, Kazuki opened his mouth and ate it.
This was the moment Dreunz had been expecting. As Kazuki ate the space energy, Dreunz took this small distraction and he himself took on the shape of a thick beam of light before he shot forward away from Kazuki.
This however was not good enough. The moment he shot forward, Kazuki appeared in front of him and Dreunz crashed into him. Kazuki then proceeded to eat the light energy surrounding Dreunz.
Dreunz shook and he was paralyzed with fear.
“YOU! YOU’RE A DEMON! A MONSTER! A PLAGUE ON THIS VERY REALM!”
Kazuki reached forward. His hand moved neither fast nor slow yet Dreunz couldn’t seem to avoid it. His hand wrapped around Dreunz’s neck and Kazuki pulled Dreunz in close, holding him in place.
An inhuman smile spread across Kazuki’s face. As his mouth split open he chuckled slightly.
“Heheha. A demon you say. I am no such thing as a weak demon. I am far greater. I am beyond such lowly little beings. As for a monster, now that’s not too far off. Either way, it matters not. Now, where were we. Ah, that’s right, I was going to eat you.”
Kazuki opened his mouth once more.
