Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 92

Even after Shaila cried her eyes out, she clung to Tozu and wouldn’t let him go. Tozu wasn’t upset by this in the least and he found comfort in her embrace. When things finally started to calm down, only then did he notice Kazuki’s beast-like appearance.

It wasn’t hard to figure out the situation. Sasai though explained what had happened. He went over the moment he was about to be reduced to ash from Dreunz’s dual suns and how it was Kazuki who pushed him away at the final moment. After that, Sasai told Tozu how Kazuki had entered that devilish state and he knew it was time to run. He grabbed Danny and Shaila and doubled back for Tozu before flying away as far and fast as possible.

When Tozu learned that it was Kazuki who had healed him from his near-death state, as well as entered that demonic-like mode where he lost all control, which in turn saved everyone. Tozu couldn’t help but swallow hard.

Touching his chest where not even a scar remained after he was healed, Tozu could hardly believe that he actually escaped the clutches of death.

(I survived such a wound only thanks to Kazuki’s efforts. This human went so far!)

Tozu was still slightly nervous seeing Kazuki’s appearance but he had to thank him no matter what.

“Kazuki. I was so useless yet you still managed all of this. You’ve saved us all. You saved my brother, you saved my wife. Kazuki…Thank you. From the bottom of my very being, I thank you.”

“Your words are…never mind. We are all allies. If we are to survive this, we must continue to place our faith in one another.”

Tozu didn’t know what to say to that. All he could think of doing was to place a hand on Kazuki’s shoulder and nod in agreement.

After a bit, Kazuki proceeded to once more remove most of the wild hair that had grown all over. Using just his ki, he easily shaped up his hair and trimmed his overgrown nails. Shaila was slightly disappointed seeing him get rid of such a hairy figure and clung to Tozu even tighter as if his hair would be next.

After all, was said and done the hair on his head was still quite long and neared his waist in length. His body as well was huge and he was well over 7 feet tall. He wondered if Nunully and Asuna would be frightened when they eventually see him.

He wished to end the war as soon as possible so that Glacious could open his tiny world and he could see them again.

“We should return to Edngaul.”

This suggestion from Kazuki made everyone raise a brow or two.

“Kazuki, you said that Dreunz had gotten away. Does this not mean he can find us there. Going back would be allowing the enemy to attack us at any time.”

Shaila’s words were on point and made sense but Danny had more trust in Kazuki.

“You aren’t wrong miss Shaila but Kazuki should already be aware of such things. If he wants us to go back he must have some idea. Kazuki what is your counter for our enemies? We can’t exactly allow another fight to break out around so many people. The casualties this time, I estimate are in the thousands at the least.”

Kazuki already had thoughts about this.

“Dreunz may have escaped but he doesn’t necessarily know where Edngaul is located. After all, it was his grandson and the other escorts who follow me back there and they have all met their demise. Not only that, even if Edngaul is easy to find, doesn’t mean we will be. When we first fought Dreunz’s grandson and those escorts, I had covered you all with my ki. I did that so our enemies wouldn’t notice your power. As long as you all aren’t too far away from me, I can cover not only myself but the rest of you as well. Were an Ancient beast to use aura to scan over the city, none of us would be detected. Plus, Dreunz is alone right now. My strength has skyrocketed, he won’t come back to face me until he has back up I suspect.”

Danny rubbed his chin in thought.

“That’s all well and good but I know that can’t be the only reason why you wish to return there. If it was just because of those things, then we could go anywhere then. Though if we return back to Edngaul, it could be the last place our enemies would look as it would be too obvious. I believe again that this is only part of it and the most important reason to return is old Sid or rather his skills is what you’re after.”

Shaila, Tozu, and Sasai all shared a similar quizzical look.

“There’s no need to look so confused. Danny is right, I need Sid’s skills. I’m surprised you all haven’t asked before but are none of you curious as to why I wanted the Motozu scales.”

Sasai was the first to answer confidently.

“Armor. We all know how tough those damned scales are. Me and brother Tozu together and it’s difficult for us to crack even one. If you make armor out of them, the number of beings capable of crushing it with brute force is tiny.”

Tozu doubted it was for armor. He had seen Kazuki wearing Orichalcum armor before and that was equivalent in toughness to the Motozu scales.

“It can’t be for armor, instead it’s got to be the reflective capability. Magic is basically useless against those scales at least to a high degree. Using the scales to block your opponent’s power, their magic would become useless right?”

Kazuki shook his head.

“The scales aren’t for me to wear. They’re actually for

Before Kazuki could finish Shaila jumped in. Even though Kazuki was about to tell them, this felt like a riddle and she became intrigued.

“Both my husband and little brother have guessed that the purpose was for defense but both you say it’s not. Yet in order for the scales to be put to use, you require Sid’s skills. Sid is a master crafter so if it’s not for defensive purposes then it must be a tool or a weapon. However, I don’t see how a simple tool could be of use against our enemies so I’m leaning heavily on it being a weapon. Though to use reflective scales as a weapon, I haven’t a clue what type of weapon these scales could be used for.”

Sasai started to laugh but Kazuki nodded.

“Yep, it is for a weapon.”

Sasai almost choked on his laugh and coughed a few times as he thought this was ridiculous.

Shaila puffed out her large breast with pride.

“I knew it. Kazuki you gave away too many clues, hehe. Still, a weapon made by a little human that’s capable of harming an Ancient beast, now that’s something I’m very curious about. Please tell me about such a device.”

Kazuki shook his head.

“That I will not do. I have nothing against you, any of you, but we all must have a few secrets right. I hope as an ally you won’t push past here.”

Shaila didn’t expect this at all but it only made her more curious. Still, she gave a nod and didn’t force it.

“I understand. We all have a thing or two we need to keep quiet. Though I hope one day you can trust me enough to explain further. I won’t hold a grudge, hehe.”

Shaila then turned and flew towards the south. Even though she tried to hide it, everyone saw a small pout on her full lips.

Tozu sighed.

“Kazuki sorry for the trouble.”

Tozu then left a streak of orange and red flames in his wake as he chased after his dearest.

Sasai let Danny go before he flew ahead as well.

Kazuki and Danny were now left behind. Danny gathered his aura and was about to follow when Kazuki grabbed him.

“Wait. I..I need to say something.”

Kazuki had promised himself to bury his emotions and not think about his brother but the wound was still fresh and after everything the three of them went through, Danny was the second person who was closest to Kai. Kazuki felt he had a right to know.

“Danny. During the fight, something happened to me. Kai…He’s gone.”

Kazuki explained everything about the Vazul, the dark entity that was inside the gate in his soul world. About how when he activated the power the Vazul managed to break free and enter this realm and how it took him over. He told Danny about Kai sacrificing himself and how Zetrazz came in and settled things, sending the Vazul back into the gate before sealing it for a time.

After all, was said and done, Danny began to think in silence. To Kazuki’s surprise, the moment he opened his mouth the first thing Danny mentioned was not Kai but instead, something Kazuki had not considered at all.

“If what you’re saying about these Vazul beings using the Ourodyess technique to cross into our realm and take possession of a body, what does this mean for Etora?”
