Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 95
While Shaila and the others absorbed the power from the Magic beast cores. Danny decided to take a look at a few books in the shop. Sitting down he began reading, after all, right now there was not much he could do.
Sid on the other hand even though the doors to the back workshop were thick, with Kazuki’s sense of hearing, he could still make out the clear thuds as old Sid swung his hammer.
While he shielded everyone with his ki, so they would not be found if scanned by a powerful aura, Kazuki quietly spoke into the void.
“Zetrazz.”
The dark energy within his golden compass began to swirl and Zetrazz answered his call.
“Are you already so bored that you wish to speak with me?”
Kazuki was in no mood for this. His brother had just faded from existence and Kazuki was powerless to stop it. What he needed now more than ever was power. Power to bend any to his will, to dominate and destroy whoever stood in his way. Enough power to help end this war enough power to destroy the Vazul inside the gate and then the gate itself. A power that could allow him to slay his sister Fera and his mother in one fell swoop and never again to be so powerless. This is what he seeks more than anything in the world.
Kazuki pushed his anger deep within before he had an outburst.
“Zetrazz, can we stop with the games. You know exactly why I called for you. You told me there was another way, another method to gain strength quickly. Please tell me how.”
“Oh, did I say something like that…I wonder?”
Kazuki even without seeing Zetrazz’s face, he knew this weird Titan was still messing with him.
“So are you saying you lied to me? I thought that was something you didn’t do. Unless I misheard and you don’t actually have a method for me to grow in a short amount of time. If that is so then I guess it was my misunderstanding. Yeah, there’s no way there’s actually another method, if there was you yourself would have used it long ago and would be the strongest being in the world. You’d have no reason to fear Glacious or any other.”
The dark energy swirled before Kazuki’s compass pulled him downward. Just before he smashed into the ground, Kazuki smiled.
“Why so angry, you didn’t lie to me right?”
The dark energy around the compass stopped as Zetrazz could see he played right into Kazuki’s hand. With the energy released, Kazuki caught himself before he was pulled through the floor, a smirk still on his face.
(I need to remember to keep my cool around Zetrazz. My anger is not something that will work on this asshole, instead, it seems to work better if I turn the game around on him.)
“Right, I stepped into that one, it will not happen again. I did mention a way to grow. Your lucky I wish to see more from you, otherwise…
“Otherwise you would kill me?”
Zetrazz went quiet for a moment before he answered a question with another question.
“Do you wish to die? Has the rage inside already been quelled? Am I simply wasting my time now?”
Kazuki could feel a strange mood from Zetrazz. At the same time, these questions seemed to have consequences attached to them.
(If I answer wrong…would he kill me. Be damned everything else. If he wants entertainment but I don’t play along, I don’t show that I’m putting in everything I’ve got, he may see it as half-hearted and grow bored. It seems he still doesn’t understand who I am.)
“Do I wish to die? Not yet but would I die for my purpose, absolutely. You ask if my rage has been quelled.”
Kazuki sucked in a cold breath of air.
“The things I would do to those that have crossed me. The devastation I would rain down atop them until they are cinders and ash. The rage I have for my enemies is never-ending. The ocean is but a drop compared to my hatred. As for whether or not your wasting your time. You tell me what it is we’re doing right now when I could be growing stronger.”
The dark energy within Kazuki’s compass went silent and still for but a moment before Zetrazz answered back.
“Fine, I get it. Let’s start right now. Follow me into your soul world.”
Kazuki was a little surprised that Zetrazz became compliant so easy but at the same time, he couldn’t just enter his soul world, not when he was constantly using his ki to hide everyone’s presence.
Before he could say anything though, Zetrazz knew what he was worried about.
“Do not mind these little beasts, I will guard them while we’re inside your soul world.”
Kazuki furrowed his brows.
“What’s with that stupid look? What, you don’t trust me?”
“If they were gone from my side, would that not elevate your entertainment.”
“Are you trying to say I’ll kill these weaklings?”
Kazuki shrugged.
“Maybe not you personally but maybe you won’t guard them the way you say and other Ancient beasts will find them and attack them unannounced. How much joy would you get out of that?”
“None. If they die, you will be one-sidedly slaughtered in an instant as Ancient beast gang up on you. No, you need a few pawns by your side. You need a bit of cannon fodder to keep some of the enemies distracted until you can get to them. Watching you grow stronger as you fight is also a form of entertainment and that’s why you need little helpers by your side. Now are you going to enter your soul world or am I going to have to force you in?”
Now from an outside perspective, it seemed like it was Kazuki who was wasting time.
Kazuki quickly sat down and closed his eyes. The moment he did, Zetrazz spread out some energy that wasn’t the element of darkness. If Kazuki were to see or feel it he would be shocked by the familiarity.
The very next moment, Kazuki’s eyes snapped open inside his soul world. He was at the foot of his soul tree and right next to him was that devilish gate covered in many seals laid out by Zetrazz.
In the sky of Kazuki’s soul world, a small tear appeared. After that, dark energy poured in from the rip in the sky, and a dark hazy figure formed in front of Kazuki. Due to this dark haze covering Zetrazz, Kazuki couldn’t make out an actual appearance but the figure was slightly smaller than Kazuki and thinner than Kazuki would have imagined.
Zetraz noticed his curiosity and grunted.
“What are you staring at tiny ant?”
“Nothing. Can we get on with it. Why are we in my soul world? my physical body can’t grow stronger in here.”
“You ask too many questions for someone that’s doing you a favor. A favor in which you will be paying me back for in full with interest.”
(That makes no sense. How is it a favor if I have to pay it back?)
“You little bastard ant, you just questioned me again in your head didn’t you?”
Kazuki quickly denied it but Zetrazz eyed him up and down.
“Whatever, forget it. Your annoying self will suffer plenty for me while you train anyway. It’s better to just get to it and enjoy the show. For your stupid question a second ago, I’ll generously answer so that this can go faster, otherwise, you’ll just ask me one stupid question after the other.”
Zetrazz pointed at the ground and his energy surrounded Kazuki’s form and made him sit down.
“To your question, of course, you can grow physically. Have you really not noticed that every time your soul grows stronger, your actual body will also improve, though the improvement is tiny compared to your soul still, your body does improve. The training you’ll do inside of here though has nothing to do with your body or physical strength but rather your soul as well as magic.”
Kazuki was confused.
“My aura can go toe to toe with most Ancient beasts now and my magic is deadly and focused. What I need is real strength. Not some crap for my soul and magic.”
“You are so smart yet so stupidly stupid. Between you and me, I who’s body is barely physical and you who has a body that’s tougher than metal and can smash a mountain with your fist. Out of the two of us who is stronger, who is the dominant one.”
Kazuki stared at Zetrazz with a glare but answered begrudgingly.
“You are.”
“No shit I am the stronger. I am stronger than you a million times over and beyond. I am the strongest being in this world and possibly the strongest in all of the lower realms. Yet I do not need to swing a fist to kill nor kick my opponent to crush them. At the same time, there is no fist in this realm that can destroy me. I destroy with my magic, I suppress with my aura. You and I are different. I can do anything I wish to you without ever having to touch a single hair on your ant-like head. I do all of this with my magic, with my soul. What I have is real strength and you… in my eyes your no more than a paper tiger.”
