Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 31
Kazuki had launched several javelins made from god metal. Using the combination of his natural strength, ki, and aura strengthening, the javelins flew for hundreds of miles without stopping. With his aura, he could sense Dreunz and the other Ancient beast’s precise location.
Kazuki’s strength was already beyond what a human should be capable of. It was already far greater than his magic and was above the 5th stage. After the Vazul broke loose within his soul world, his body had gained even more strength. After Zetrazz sealed the dark being back inside, Kazuki had lost a small amount of strength, but his physical body was already stronger and tougher than that of Shaila and the others.
Adding his ki and aura strengthening, along with god metal already being one of the toughest materials known, when these javelins came raining down on Dreunz and the others, it was truly deadly.
Only by using a barrier made of magic could they have hope of stopping them.
These javelins carried with them the power to shatter mountains and much more. Because of this, in an instant, two Ancient beasts lost their lives, and another lost an arm.
One of the Ancient beasts saw this and took to his true form, but that was a clear mistake. Before Dreunz could properly warn the fool, his head was turned into slop, and he fell out of the sky dead.
Dreunz managed to slow one of the javelins down and catch it. Within a second, he realized who had made it, and his rage boiled before he appeared to turn into a beam of light and chase after Kazuki faster than a bolt of lightning. Camila and the others quickly raced after him.
Several hundred miles away, Kazuki could already feel Dreunz headed in his direction.
“Everyone, they’re coming! You know what to do!”
In an instant, Kazuki, Shaila, Danny, Tozu, and Sasai all spread out in a large formation.
Shaila raised her hand high above her head and clawed at the sky as if to rip it to shreds. Willing her dark power, she called out.
“Endless Night!”
Dark energy surrounded all of them, and within several miles of them, the light of the world began to fade until the entire area was pitch black. At the same time, several blades made from her dark power spread out in every direction and floated silently in the darkness.
As soon as she did this, Dreunz, in the distance, spotted this dark area spring up, and he felt disdain.
“That she bitch is still using this trick. Hmph, this darkness is nothing! My light will disperse it in an instant. See if you coward can hide from me then!”
Dreunz arrived above this dark area in no time at all. His hands rested on his right side, he gathered power between his palms. A golden white sphere formed between his hands as he roared.
“Light of the Eternal!”
Light shot forward like a cannon. The heat that radiated off of it was several times hotter than the sun. It ripped through the air and came crashing into the dark surroundings but something unexpected happened.
The moment his power came rushing forth, the spot his power hit or rather tried to hit dispersed all on its own. It opened up and surprisingly moved out of the way of Dreunz’s light beam. Not only that, Dreunz watched as his beam of light went in one side and out the other. Its path clear the whole way through. It came shining out on the other side and crashed into the world below with a loud and audible Bang!
A large crater was left behind in the ground and a plum of smoke was carried upwards before being blown away by the aftershock that followed.
In the dark energy where the light had shot through, the hole left behind from when the dark energy got out of the way of the light, in a mere second, it closed up once more. Dreunz’s power had done no damage at all to this dark area. It had hit no one, and this pitch-black-like fog was completely unaffected.
At this time, Camila and the other Ancient beasts had arrived at his side.
Dreunz didn’t even notice their presence as he roared in anger.
“KAZUKI YOU FUCKING COWARD! YOU DARE HIDE IN THIS DARKNESS! COME OUT NOW OR I WILL DRAG YOU OUT ONE LIMB AT A TIME!!!”
Camila grabbed Dreunz’s shoulder and he turned on her. A face twisted in murderous rage appeared before her and she felt her heart jump in her chest.
As soon as Dreunz saw that it was his daughter, his expression immediately changed. There was still anger but it was no longer one of madness.
Dreunz calmed just a little and ordered.
“Surround this mass of darkness. They’re all hiding within it. As long as we work together, they will have no way of escaping us today!”
Very quickly the dark fog was surrounded and all paths were cut off.
With the place surrounded, Dreunz and everyone else began their attack. All at once, these Ancient beasts fired their power into the black fog.
Fire, ice, Gordonia, Lightning, etc.
One of these attacks could carve up the land and destroy an entire kingdom in an instant, let alone all of them coming one after another. To their surprise though, just like Dreunz’s first attack, theirs simply passed into the dark fog. Coming out the other side, they crashed into the ground, causing large quakes that devastated the surroundings for dozens of miles. Other times, their power flew out and into the sky where it tore at the sky and rippled outward in the air.
The other times were bad for them though. Sometimes their comrade’s power would come flying out from one side and would come directly at them.
Because of this, angry shouts and roars echoed back and forth as they picked at one another.
“YOU FOOL! YOU NEARLY BURNED MY FACE!”
“SHUT UP YOU WORM! YOUR ICE HAS ALREADY FROZE MY ARM!”
“JUST WATCH YOURSELF!”
Just as they started to argue, something came flying out even faster than their magic.
*Fwhoosh Fwhoosh*
Two javelins flew out and pierced the heads of two Ancient beasts just as their guard was down.
These Ancient beasts were a few miles apart, but they could all sense what had just happened with their auras. The battle had barely just begun. They had yet to actually see their so-called enemies, yet nearly half of their side was already gone. The pride they had as Ancient beasts had once more been stepped on. Hatred combined with anger spurred something within. At the same time, a few didn’t even know it themselves, but something else began to grow within them…Fear.
The closest to these fallen comrades rushed over and sealed their cores just in case. At the same time, they were all on high alert. Their barriers rotated around them with full force. They made sure nothing could penetrate their magic.
“As long as we keep our barriers up, there’s nothing to fear. Three beasts—a doll and a human, they can only die here!”
Dreunz said this with full confidence. He knew Kazuki’s strength well.
(The human has more strength than I physically but he cannot withstand my magic nor can he keep up with my speed. I simply need one shot, one opening, and I can take his head from his shoulders. The only problem is this damn fog.)
Dreunz, along with the other beasts, none of them could see through it, and that was a problem. If it was just their eyes, it wouldn’t be so difficult. After all, they could just use their auras to sense their enemy’s location within the dark fog and change their aim accordingly, but something was off.
Dreunz had already tried using his aura not once or twice but multiple times. Something, though, was blocking his senses from delving into the fog. Not just him, though; all of the Ancient beasts were blocked from sensing within.
(I’m being shut out by a stronger aura than my own, but how can that be? The strongest of them was that she bitch. Did her aura really grow so strong in less than two weeks?)
“Father, what shall we do? We must hurry and kill this bastard Kazuki and then head to the south for our king.”
Camila gnashed her teeth as she spoke. She wanted very much to rip the murderer who took her baby’s life to pieces, but she knew her duties. This had to be settled quickly so they could head south to the battlefield. They were supposed to come together with the southern beasts and help hold off Fera’s fake bodies and Etora so the southern beast King and their King could destroy Glacious together. Wasting time here was not an option.
“Right. We cannot delay, nor can we afford to lose any more of our side. I’ll destroy this fog in one go. At that moment, everyone go all out at once!”
Dreunz opened his mouth, and his eyes began to shine with golden-white light.
Two spheres of light started to grow high above in the sky until they were both the size of hills.
Even with his mouth open, his voice echoed out with a booming force.
“DUAL SUNS!”
