Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 36
Shaila took on her true form and changed into a black panther the size of a mighty mountain. Clawing at Dreunz, she roared out.
“ENDLESS NIGHT!”
The world began to darken as the light was stolen due to Shaila’s attack. All at once, dozens of crescent-shaped blades made of dark energy came slashing and slicing toward both Dreunz as well as the many forming suns growing around him. These dark blades contained enough power to cut through even god metal but…
The first time Shaila and Dreunz fought, Dreunz had a clear advantage. Even now, after Shaila had grown much stronger after consuming a few Ancient beasts cores, her power still could not match his, but she had closed the power gap greatly.
Her attack should have been enough to destroy a few of these suns, but Dreunz would not allow that. He raged at the fact that he had waited up to this point to use his master’s gifted power. Had his mind been clearer before, he would have used his master’s gift and destroyed all of these fools but he was distraught. Now though seeing Shaila’s and Kazuki’s unrelenting attack and seeing that nearly all of his allies had been desolated and even his daughter was killed before him, Dreunz knew he needed to finish them all here and now.
Just before Shaila’s attacks landed, the ring upon Dreunz’s finger lit up, and a large orb of blood appeared floating above his palm.
As soon as Dreunz took this out, the few remaining Ancient beasts gulped, and one couldn’t help but shout.
“King Azar’s Blood Essence!”
The moment the enemy said this, something flashed in Kazuki’s mind. It was one of Glacious’s memories. As soon as this thought appeared, information regarding the so-called Blood Essence filled his mind. This all happened in a near-instant. When Kazuki realized what the Blood Essence was, his eyes widened in shock.
A roar erupted from the pit of Kazuki’s stomach and out of his throat.
“RUNNNNN!!!”
He used his aura breath with this roar, causing his enemies to be stunned for a split second. Shaila and the others didn’t know what this was about, but Kazuki had said this with such conviction that they knew something was wrong.
All at once, Shaila and the others turned into streaks of light and flew away at their greatest speeds. The other Ancient beasts saw them fleeing, and they knew they couldn’t let a single one go. They were just about to give chase, but just as their backs were turned, hundreds of javelins came raining down atop them like the king of death.
They hadn’t expected this at all, and in a split second, they each died right after the other.
Kazuki had told his friends to run for two reasons. One, once Dreunz consumed that blood essence, none of them would be able to defeat him. Secondly, Kazuki knew that once his friends showed their enemies their collective backs, the enemy would see this as an opportunity to mow them down. They would jump at this chance and give chase. This, in turn, was their downfall. Once they gave chase, it would then be Kazuki who would attack from behind.
His javelins were already difficult to deal with, and that was when he only threw a few every so often. How would these Ancient beasts, who were in attack mode and not guarding, fair when Kazuki launched not one or two but dozens and hundreds all at once. Even after everything that had happened up until now, somehow these Ancient beasts had forgotten who the most dangerous enemy here was, and because of that, they had sealed their own fate.
Now it was only Kazuki and Dreunz here.
Dreunz ignored his allies’ foolish deaths, and in a single gulp, he drank down the Blood Essence.
(Only a being with strength equivalent to the 7th stage can make such a blood orb. It contains a fraction of a great being’s power and essence. By consuming it for a short amount of time, one’s power can touch the 7th stage.)
Kazuki could only send everyone away. If he didn’t, then Dreunz would simply pick them off one at a time.
As Dreunz’s body began to grow, his eyes began to fill with blood and all of the veins on his body squirmed like snakes. Kazuki on the other hand, grabbed all of the Ancient beast’s cores and sealed them in an instant.
(How to deal with Dreunz? Can I outrun him? If I use everything I have, will it be enough?)
Kazuki eyed the 10 suns that had now fully formed. They alone would be difficult to deal with, but Dreunz also had eight swords made of golden white light rotating around his mountain-sized body.
(To even begin to deal damage, those swords have to be destroyed first.)
Kazuki threw several more javelins, but the moment they got close, the swords as if they had a mind of their own, knocked the javelins away. Not only were the javelins located away, but the Dreunz’s swords all started to grow as well. They went from about 10 feet in length to over 20 and then from there to 50. They had 5X in an instant.
Dreunz’s bloodshot-like eyes rolled forward as he glared at Kazuki. Kazuki couldn’t help but take a step back. He could feel Dreunz’s might, and the air around him changed. The amount of power around Dreunz felt similar to Glacious.
Dreunz was already bigger than a mountain, but now he was a full size bigger. He stared down at Kazuki with hatred.
“You murdered my grandson, and you murdered my daughter. You have brought such pain that it is almost indescribable. For all that you have taken from me, you can only die!”
These words clawed at something inside Kazuki. At first, he felt fear when Dreunz emitted such power, but after these words, Kazuki was truly enraged, and he snapped back.
“I DON’T WANT TO HEAR SUCH BULL SHIT FROM YOU! I KILLED YOURS! SO THE FUCK WHAT! IF MINE DIE THEN ITS ONLY NATURAL THAT YOURS WOULD DIE IN RETURN!”
Even though he knew this would anger Dreunz further, even though he knew it would only make things more difficult, he couldn’t stand such self-righteousness. He wouldn’t let Dreunz get away with believing he was the good one in all of this. No, if he was dragged in the mud, then so too would the other.
Kazuki filled his body with ki and used both aura-strengthening and wind aura on himself. His body was lighter than a feather and brimming with what felt like limitless strength.
(I won’t be able to outrun him, but that doesn’t mean he can catch me.)
After this exchange of words, the world fell quiet for not even a second before Dreunz made his move. He stomped on the ground, and the world cracked beneath his feet. Just his weight alone was well over 100 million pounds. This step sank the ground beneath him more than 10,000 feet and caused everything around to quake for hundreds of miles.
Kicking off the ground, Dreunz’s large body moved faster than lightning as he directly charged Kazuki. Kazuki had expected this but was still surprised.
His body moved with extreme speed as he kicked off the ground. This single kick took him dozens of miles away, but even this was not enough. Dreunz’s speed and momentum carried him further, and he was right on top of Kazuki.
The swords and suns rotating around Dreunz came crashing down upon Kazuki.
The world was blindingly white and only grew brighter as this attack literally filled up Kauzki’s vision. Just as two of the suns were about to crush Kazuki from above and below, Kazuki pulled out the remainder of the god metal he had stored away. In an instant, he shaped it into two large walls and blocked these two suns.
*BAM FSHHHHHHH*
The god metal was melting like butter, and Kazuki could feel his skin stinging with a sharp pain as his flesh was bubbling from the heat.
Taking a deep breath, Kazuki released his aura breath with a heavy exhale and coated his body in a layer of protection. His stinging skin stopped melting, and he bought himself a second of relief. Only a second, though, as the very next moment, several long swords came slashing at him from every direction.
The power of fire gathered around him, and flames erupted around his body. Using them like thrusters, he dodged these oncoming slashes as if he had eyes in the back of his head.
Left, right, up, and down, these swords nearly took his head from his shoulders several times over. At the same time, the suns were still trying to melt him from above and below, and the rest of the suns were gathering around him. He was being caged in like a wild animal. Once he was fully surrounded, there would be no such thing as escape.
Kazuki desperately reached into his ring and pulled out the Beast cores he had just stored only moments ago. Breaking the seals he had just placed barely a minute ago, he swiftly removed them, and the soul fragments within responded in kind, and with it, the cores detonated all together.
