Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 66
Garn wasted no time. He couldn’t say for sure if this was really Kazuki or not in front of him but either way that mattered little. What did matter was the fact that this person and the people around him all held great strength, the strength that would be incredibly difficult for Garn to match especially with so many foes of similar strength.
Not only did he not match any of them strengths-wise, but his floating palace also was not at 100% power after Sam had stolen one of the magic cores and stored it in his storage ring.
The power circulating in the palace changed in an instant and took off into the distance like a shooting star. It had already moved several miles with its incredible speed but just as it looked as if Garn could actually escape, Kazuki appeared in front of the palace in a flash.
He cocked back his fist before throwing it outward as fast as lightning.
*BAM!*
The palace was knocked backward for several miles and the barrier protecting it rippled and wavered.
If the barrier didn’t absorb the shock from Kazuki’s blow that the sudden reversal in force would have killed nearly everyone inside as they crashed into the inner walls.
“Who the fuck told you that you were allowed to leave!?”
Kazuki’s voice seemed to deepen and give off an air of authority. It reverberated in the air and shook it.
Garn had not expected this at all. Sure he understood that these creatures around him were fast. He had witnessed that just moments ago but he had not foreseen them to be this quick.
Garn still couldn’t believe that this person in front of him was actually Kazuki and still remained slightly respectful.
“Senior! This is too much! I have no qualms with you and we have no business so why do you threaten me and block my path?”
Kazuki’s expression changed as he raised a brow.
“Garn, don’t tell me you really have gone senile. You keep acting as if you don’t know me but was it not you who hunted me for all that time? Wasn’t it you who tried to kill not only me but my friends and would not leave us be? Who’s memory is flaky, it’s definitely not mine so it can only be you. If not for you, I would have fixed my Mage core long ago. So much time was wasted because you felt the need to punish me and everyone else I know. For what purpose, not for justice, not for the world but instead for your own personal bias and grudge. Against me, against Nunully, against everyone that does not bend the knee and do exactly as you say.”
Hearing up to here, Garn’s attitude started to switch as he began to believe that this really was Kazuki in front of him. Even if Kazuki was stronger now, Garn’s hatred had even after all this time not cooled and he burst out in rage.
“You being here should not be possible! You, a damn worm who protects a halfbreed and betrays humanity for some fresh little bitch. Had I known you came from the dark continent, I would have killed you the moment I summoned you to my world. You have been nothing but a curse since you’ve gotten here. Like a plague, you invaded the minds of the others, corrupting them and brought them to your side. You devil tricked the others and they followed you like the loyal sheep that they are. All you do is ruin and infect everything in your surroundings. I on the other hand have only done what I do for humanity’s sake. Killing Nunully, that halfbreed should know better than to exist in my world. All of you, every last one of you should just die and be gone forever. Only then can you contribute to humanity. Only then can you be considered human again.”
Kazuki looked at Garn as if he was stupid. Half of the shit he was saying now made no sense and the other half infuriated Kazuki more and more.
“The more you speak old man, the more you solidify what I’ve thought about you since long ago. You are nothing more than a bastard, blinded by some crazed ideal that makes you believe you are the hero of the world. We all know that isn’t true though. Whatever hero you may have been in the past, that part of you died the moment authority and power became your main focus.”
Garn no longer tried to escape and instead turned his weapon on Kazuki.
“WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW! I AM THE HERO OF THE PEOPLE, I AM THE KING WHO WILL RULE OVER ALL AND WHO WILL LEAD MY PEOPLE TO THE FUTURE! IT’S YOU WHO IS NOTHING! AND IT IS YOU WHO WILL BE REDUCED TO NOTHING! DIE!!”
Garn pointed his scepter at Kazuki and in an instant, the power of fire, lightning, darkness, and light all shot forward at once and struck Kazuki with a beam of plasma hotter than the burning sun.
The world lit up with a bright light that blocked everyone’s vision.
Asuna who was still stunned moments before, seeing Kazuki being hit with Garn’s attack, she screamed at the top of her lungs.
“KAZUKI NOOOOO!!!”
She had seen Kazuki die once already and it broke her. To see it happen again, she couldn’t handle it. Her scream was so loud and long that it exhausted her breath and made her voice crack and run hoarse as she nearly fainted from it.
Garn on the other hand smiled and laughed.
“Finally, after all this time this bastard is finally no more. I thought I lost my chance the first time when he fell but to think the gods favored me this much. To present my enemy in front of me just so that I can be the one to kill him, I am blessed. I knew it, this gift from the gods confirms it. I am the one destined to save the world. I am the one who will reign over all and will lead the weak peasants to pros…”
Garn’s words froze in his throat as the light from his attack faded and a lone figure stood in the sky.
*TSSSS*
Sizzling smoke radiated and hissed off of a dull white armor. From head to toe, Kazuki wore his god metal. Some of it had chipped away from the plasma attack but for the most part, it remained fully intact.
This already was surprising for Garn but what he saw left him horrified. The armor may have been mostly fine but Kazuki was in a different manner. Kazuki’s armor could both absorb some of the magical energy as well as bear the physical damage and a good deal of the heat but Kazuki was still flesh and blood. Plenty of the heat and magic penetrated the armor and melted a good deal of Kazuki’s flesh including a good portion of his face.
Most of Kazuki’s skull was exposed at this moment but he uttered no cry of pain, no scream of agony even though the pain was clearly there. Instead, he stood in the air without moving. In anear instant, his eyes regenerated and he glared death at Garn. As the rest of the muscle cartilage, nerves, blood and everything else regenerated, Kazuki didn’t break eye contact for even a second.
Seeing this, being stared down by an unflinching being that regenerated in seconds, this struck something in Garn’s core and it horrified him and disturb him to his very depths.
He was convinced early that this really was Kazuki but now he once again wasn’t sure. Instead, he felt that this thing in front of him was closer to an Azirian.
Garn trembled within and called out in a faint breath.
“M…Monster!”
Kazuki slowly flew forward until he was at the edge of the barrier. The power of ki, aura, and the element of darkness fused and this power thinly coated both of his hands, and it was as if he were now wearing a glove of power on both hands.
“A monster you say…You truly have no idea.”
Garn felt something was wrong. he could sense a strange and unfamiliar power coming from Kazuki. One that felt untamed and chaotic. Not even a second later, Kazuki grabbed the barrier with both hands. The fused power coating his hands amplified and as he performed a ripping motion, his fused power tore the barrier apart as if he were tearing simple sheets of paper.
Garn’s eyes went wide in shock and he immediately gave up on his floating palace and tried to teleport away but it was already too late. Kazuki had ripped open the barrier and reached forward, his aura surrounded Garn entirely and Garn could no longer move or use his magic.
He knew what was coming and he tried to struggle, he tried to move his magic and take control of Asuna. If this really was Kazuki, then he could still use Asuna as a hostage he thought. His mind swirled and his thoughts went in a million different directions as he tried to think of a way out of this but it was already too late. Kazuki had him. Maybe if he took Asuna as a hostage earlier, maybe if he did this or that. All of these maybes and what-ifs were just that.
Kazuki pulled backward and Garn was dragged through the palace and its many walls and ceilings. His body was repeatedly slammed into these walls and many bones broke in the process. He screamed and tried to get away and as he was pulled through the halls and walls, many people saw the terrified look and heard the horrifying screams but none felt sad for this man.
When he was finally pulled out of the last wall, and placed in front of Kazuki, his body was covered in gruesome injuries. From simple cuts to deep gashes and mangled bones. Garn was bleeding from head to toe.
Still, even in this state, when he was brought in front of Kazuki he grit his teeth and held the pain in but every now and then he released terrible moans of agony. His anger though still hadn’t subsided. As he began to speak, he spat mouthfuls of blood.
“You insignificant bastard! I…I am the king. Y…You can not do this to me. I still have so much more that I have to do and you traitorous bastard must not get in the way. You will die and when you do, everyone will celebrate. After you, it will be As..Asuna.”
Kazuki reached forward in a flash and grabbed Garn’s entire head in his hand.
“You think I will let you speak her name ever again. The grudge I had with you, I wondered for a long time if it was something I could put behind me, give up and move on but it is clear as day. Even if I gave up my hatred for you, you would not do the same. Your twisted mind little mind, even in the face of death, you still spout such nonsense.”
“I will save…I will save them all.”
Kazuki shook his head hearing this bullshit. He was done listening to all the crap and he was done with Garn.
His hand squeezed with a bit of strength and Garn’s head was crushed in an instant and his eyes popped out of his head and flew off somewhere. Bone, blood, brain, and everything else that was on the inside was not on the outside and spilled down in a foul runny manner.
Garn was dead. He was dead dead, and with a simple toss, Kazuki threw his old shriveled body to the ground like a rag doll.
“Crazed old fool. Even at the end, he couldn’t shut the fuck up.”
