Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 79
(The way she uses lightning is different from mine. Is it just lightning or is it other magic elements as well?)
A theory started to form in Danny’s mind. As lightning came raining down atop everyone, Danny was calm and collected. The battlefield was constantly being lit up with fiery explosions and chaotic attacks. Etora never stopped pulling in as many of these attacks as possible but the more he devoured, the more Fera would create, and a continuous flow of attacks fell upon everyone.
Shaila and the others fired back but attacking Fera’s body which was basically clouds was not working. They would fire multiple attacks at once into the sky and rip the clouds apart but Fera would simply reform her body and continue to attack. At the same time, Shaila and the rest were having a difficult time. While they were ineffective against Fera, Fera’s lightning was deadly.
Every second the barriers that protected them shook and warped inward and outward as if the barrier itself was alive and currently hyperventilating. The more time that passed, the worse the barriers held up. With the lightning increasing over time, tears were starting to appear in said barriers and Shaila and the others changed from attacking every once and a while to simply defending themselves.
Kazuki was still ok. With his speed, he could dodge the lightning with relative ease for now. Not only that, he wore a thin layer of fused energy over his body. The combination of ki, aura, and dark energy formed a protective coating that would destroy any lightning that came close enough. This though was not easy to maintain a sit required a great deal of dark energy and ki. His aura he had plenty to spare. If his aura was considered a deep and ever-expanding winding river, then his magic was a grand lake and his ki would be like a large pool.
He could expend this amount of aura at this current rate for weeks, possibly even a month or two. This fusion of energy though needed to stay balanced and his magic and ki simply weren’t enough to maintain this protective layer for more than a few minutes.
Kazuki knew this and understood what had to be done. He needed to find a way to prevent Fera from returning time and time again, and he needed to find a way to do this soon or he would be shit out of luck. For now though, to squeeze out every drop of protection, Kazuki did something risky. He opted to not cover his entire body with the fused energy and instead only covered small spots around his body.
Every time lightning got a little too close, Kazuki would wait until the very last possible second and cover only the area of his body that would be struck by the lightning. This was both incredibly stupid and rash, and yet it was also quite clever. By doing this, the efficiency went way up, and instead of having protection from this deadly lightning for a few minutes, it climbed to something like an hour or so. Not only that but by using less energy, it allowed his ki and magic to recover at a much faster rate than before.
Blue flames danced beneath Kazuki’s feet as he accelerated away from Fera’s lightning.
Etora, while still devouring wind and lightning, reached beneath him and drilled his hands into the ground. With a heavy lift, he tore a huge piece of the world away. The land rose suddenly and a piece of rock the size of a small mountain was pulled up from in front of him. With a toss, the mountain soared into the sky. It immediately was slammed into several hurricanes and was sliced apart by wind blades and exploded from hundreds of lightning bolts.
As this piece of land exploded and scattered over the world, it bought Etora and the rest a few seconds.
Etora deactivated his devouring ability and roared at Kazuki and the others.
“IT’S NO GOOD! YOU ALL CAN DO NOTHING HERE! RUN! I’LL FIGURE SOMETHING OUT!”
Sasai agreed but Kazuki shouted back.
“NO! We can’t leave you here!”
Kazuki said this but he wasn’t very confident at the moment. All he could do right now was basically dodge. His usual fighting style was mainly using his physicality but physical attacks were useless here. Not only that, he still had something up his sleeve.
Etora didn’t want to hear it.
“I GAVE YOU A CHANCE BUT IT’S USELESS!”
“HOW TRUE!”
Fera’s booming voice echoed out above the sky.
“All you fools are doing is simply delaying your fates. All of you will be destroyed, this is a fact. No matter what you do, I will still accomplish my goal. The longer you fight me, the longer the delay and the closer Glacious comes to his inevitable doom. The gears are already turning and th…
Fera’s words paused there as she caught something out of the corner of her eye. She could see Danny off to the side. This alone wouldn’t steal her attention rather it was what he was doing that caused her to become confused and angry. During the middle of her speech, Danny was actually swinging his sword up and down and side to side. He was completely ignoring her words and gave zero shits about her presence.
This was odd to her. No one ignored her. Especially when they were under threat of dying by her very hand, yet Danny acted as if she wasn’t there and continued to swing his sword, seemingly without a care in the world.
“A MERE PET PROJECT DARES IGNORE ME!”
A green tint filled the sky and the gravity around Danny increased several thousandfolds. He was suddenly forced out of the sky and came crashing down.
*Bang!*
His body slammed into the ground with a loud bang and he sunk several feet downward. He would have sunk for miles but Etora used his own aura to counter Fera’s at the final moment allowing Danny to not be drilled into the depths of the world.
Danny though ignored his surroundings. He stood up and continued to swing his sword harder and faster. His eyes started to glow with a silver light as he gained insight into something.
Fera though, witnessing this only grew more enraged.
“This bug doesn’t understand fear. Fine, I’ll rip you apart piece by piece and shred your soul into oblivion. I’ll make sure to carve fear onto your pathetic soul just before you fade from existence!”
Danny stopped at this moment and glared at Fera.
This intense glare for some reason gave her pause. It was not because she was afraid or intimidated in any way, instead, it was just completely unexpected.
Danny then looked away from Fera and looked at Kazuki. His metallic face warped slightly and his artificial voice echoed outward.
“Kazuki, I think I’ve found a way to tame your sister. Give me a minute ok.”
As soon as these words fell from his mouth, everyone including Fera became shocked.
Kazuki and the others were stunned but Kazuki knew Danny. He wasn’t one to bullshit. If he said he could do something about Fera then he absolutely meant it.
The two shared a look before Kazuki turned to Etora and everyone else.
“Danny said a minute. Let’s not give him a second less.”
Kazuki didn’t understand why Danny would purposely say he would Tame Fera. This was just asking for her to go all out against Danny but Danny was no fool. Kazuki could see some meaning in his eyes.
Fera on the other hand, even with no physical body on this continent, her blood was boiling.
Lightning and hurricanes gathered high above. The hurricanes soon combined until they became one colossal-sized hurricane. This hurricane stretched for over a hundred miles and was moving at breakneck speed. It was filled from top to bottom with blades of wind that could carve through some of the toughest of metals as if they were made of mud.
The two Fera’s suddenly shook and before anyone could tell what was happening, one more Fera was created. Now there were three of them. Lightning poured from one of them like a river and the other one began increasing the gravity all over. Pressing down on them all with both gravity and her aura, was a crushing feeling.
Shocked, understandably so but still shocked all the same. They all thought Fera could only make two bodies but she had this card this entire time.
They all immediately went to counter. They all used their own aura, plus Kazuki’s own gravity but this wasn’t quite enough. Etora was completely unaffected by Fera’s aura but he could only do so much for Kazuki and the others. Their speed was severely restricted.
On top of that, Danny wasn’t putting any of his aura into protecting himself and his body was being pressured like crazy. There was no pain fo course but his body seemed stiff.
“Surprised by my third body. It took a long time to learn how to split my mind and place it in this many bodies but the dismay I see…it may have been worth it just to experience this. Now little brother…Let me hear your final screams.”
