Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 49

Hundreds of more soul fragments were destroyed with each sweep of Kazuki’s lightning. Zephris could feel his control growing stronger and stronger with each passing second, with it, his strength grew as well.

(YES, I can feel it working.)

With his own strength growing, Zephris tried to move slightly and to his glee, he could do just that. His soul slowly wrapped around a rouge soul fragment. Using his soul, he squeezed the fragment as if he were a python.

*CHTT*

The fragment shattered under Zephris’s power.

Zephris grew excited. Now he could also help destroy the fragments within. Not only that but the more Kazuki got rid of, the quicker Zephris could do the same.

A chorus of shattering echoed out as soul after soul was broken like glass.

While this was happening, further south, Zetrazz had arrived outside the mountain base. Sitting in the sky, he observed the situation.

(Those Nasty Azirian’s. When this is all over, those things will finally be no more.)

Down below, there were now more than a dozen giant fused Azirian’s. Before there were only 6 but after slaughtering most of the human army, their numbers had only grown.

Several people inside the base saw Zetrazz and they became hopeful. Word of this sighting made its way to King Brian in the throne room.

“Your Majesty, a dark stranger appeared in the sky just now.”

As soon as this message was received, a round of excitement welled up around the room.

“SILENCE!”

Brian stamped a scepter on the ground and a crystal orb flew up and out of the base. At the same time, another crystal orb hovered above the table. Light began to shine from both and they were connected. A live feed began to play, which showed Zetrazz simply hovering in the sky.

As soon as they saw it was Zetrazz, those that recognized him felt downtrodden.

“Why of all creatures did it have to be him?”

Brian didn’t recognize the dark being but from Nunully’s words just now, she surely did.

“Nunully, you know of this creature. Is it friend or foe?”

Nunully shook her head.

“Zetrazz is neither. He’s simply an eccentric Titan that seeks entertainment by watching extreme battles. Since he came here, it means he’s only come to watch one side lose and one side win. No one should get their hopes up, you will only be devastated later.”

After she said all of this, they all watched the orbs and Zetrazz was in fact not making a move but simply watching everything happening down below.

“Damn. Nunully, do you think there’s any chance Glacious is coming?”

Nunully grit her teeth but in the end, she couldn’t answer.

The mood in the throne room immediately sank. Was this it, was this how they were going to die. Just when things couldn’t get any more desperate, two more entities arrived in the sky. They all recognized Fera, the one responsible for using the Azirian’s in this terrible war.

“FERA!”

Everyone was shocked. From what they knew, she was still fighting much further away. If she was here, did that not mean that Glacious and Etora could not stop her and if they couldn’t stop her, did that mean they were dead?

Nunully saw Fera and the dots in her mind connected right away.

“NOOOOOOOOO!”

Asuna comforted her. They had both lost Kazuki and now Nunully had lost even more so soon. She was absolutely crushed and broke down crying.

“Why, Why does everybody I love keep dying?”

Asuna started to tear up as well. She could only hug Nunully for she had no words of comfort.

—————————————————————————-

“Fera, have you already forgotten what I said to you moments ago.”

Fera playfully tapped her chin.

“Hmm, something about inviting me out for a nice meal.”

Zetrazz was in no mood.

“You killed my rival in such a despicable and dirty way and now you wish to play around. You will die today and I’ll be sure to make it the cruelest way possible.”

“Oh really. If it were possible then shouldn’t I already be dead. Unless your so-called cruelty is to talk me to death.”

Zetrazz wasted no more words and rushed at Fera.

Fera though did not rush ahead but commanded Torzz.

“Block him for me.”

Torzz was annoyed by her ordering him about but still he did just that. The two rammed into one another causing one of the loudest explosions to ever occur in the world.

*BOOOOOOOOOOOM!*

The sky ripped open and the barrier protecting the mountain base shattered to pieces. At the same time, all of the fused Azirian’s crumbled apart under such a tremendous force. After a few seconds though, they quickly put themselves back together.

Fera circled around the two brothers and headed directly toward the Azirian’s. With her black compass in hand, power started to gather around it. A godly aura started to leak out from it. Just as she was about to come into contact with one of the fused giants, Zetrazz snapped his fingers.

*Snap*

A large pit instantly opened up beneath the giant and dark energy pulled it down underground for hundreds of miles. The very next instant the hole was sealed as if it had never been there in the first place. Fera’s eyes widened in shock but it was too soon for her to be surprised as Zetrazz didn’t stop. Underneath every Azirian, one large hole after another opened up and swallowed the monsters down into the abyss below.

“Did you really think it would be that easy? As long as I exist you will never become a Demigod and you will never ascend.”

“You knew?”

Fera looked at Torzz. Between the two of them, only they knew the plan.

“Torzz, did you tell your brother our plan? Did you betray me?”

“You spoiled brat. You’re blaming me. After all of this time, have we ever betrayed one another? Yet near the final moment, you think I would crack. Do not make wild accusations at me, otherwise, I will sever our ties right now. I’ll reach my goals another way, you though, I doubt you can fulfill the plan without the Azirian’s.”

Fera was frustrated but she knew Torzz was right. With a nod and a grunt, the two got back on track.

Fera didn’t waste time and she dove directly into the ground in search of the Azirians. Torzz on the other hand held nothing back. A pillar of white flames mixed with a spiraling mountain combined in the air and it came crashing down upon Zetrazz. Zetrazz smirked and moved out of the way. If this hit the ground, Detra would surely come and punish Torzz. This was Zetrazz expectation, but Torzz had learned from previous mistakes.

*HMPH*

With a snort, he pointed two fingers upward and the blazing mountain instantly changed direction.

Zetrazz turned and punched at the mountain, shattering it into millions of pieces. Some of this falling debris raced across the sky and nearly crushed the base mountain and everyone inside. Inside people were panicking and praying to their gods while trying to get the barrier back up but there was no time. Just before impact it was Torzz who unintentionally spared them. Even though the mountain was broken into millions of pieces it didn’t continue to descend but instead instantly changed direction with Torzz’s control. With a simple flip of his fingers the millions of pieces of blazing rock chased Zetrazz up and into the sky.

Had Torzz not been so focused on his brother, King Brian, Nunully, Asuna and everyone else in the mountain base would have been killed than and there.

Zetrazz smirked at his older brother and inhaled deeply.

“Aura Breath.”

Releasing a powerful breath, all of the debris froze in the air for a split second. The white flames scorching the sky and rock were supressed and snuffed out and the mounbtain rocks crumbled even further under such tremendous pressure and became dust and powder.

“Big brother, you know this is all pointless. No matter what we do to one another we cannot destroy each other and are merely wasting each other’s time. Stop this foolishness and help me kill Fera while she’s still at the seventh stage.”

Torzz shook his head.

“No, she gets what she wants and I get what I want. What I don’t understand is why you’re so against this. You’ve never cared for these lower life forms, not even once and yet your trying to defend them. You need to wake up and realize that this will make the world a better, peaceful place.”

“Eradication is not peace, it’s simply genocide. A world like that is one of boredom, do you not see that?”

“All you seek is entertainment and pleausre. You wish for nothing but to fufill your own desires. Even if that means the world is degraded and becomes a single ocean of nothing but sand. Robbed of its resources and natural beauty. Forget about this world being fathers legacy it shall be my legacy or could evenbe our legacy and yet you give two shits about it, just as long as your entertained though right. Forget it, you’ll never see things my way. This is why I’ve always despised you. That stubbornness of yours. The attitude that can never be overturned, never be changed. I don’t care anymore. Even if I can’t kill you, I don’t need to. I simply need to buy time until Fera has succeeded with her goal. Once she’s a Demigod, she can kill you for me.”

Torzz changed his tactics and flew in for close combat. Even if exchanging fists could not hurt one another, landing blow after blow on his ignorant brother would bring some form of satisfaction.

*BOOOOM BANNNNG CRACKKKKK!*

Neither brother took damage but the sky erupted with explosive energy causing lightning storms along with tornadoes to descend and cause chaos. Space began to warp under such powerful forces clashing and small cracks and tears in space spread like stretched thread in every direction. Each one of these small cracks was immensely dangerous. Coming close to one could rip weaker foes to shreds. To these two Titans these cracks in space though could only suck in a bit of their power.

Down in the mountain base, Everyone thought they were gonna be safe with Fera gone and the Azirian’s vanishing underground but now, this exchange between brothers was starting to send cracks in the newly repaired barrier. Along with the lightning and tornadoes touching down, the barrier was on the verge of falling apart once more.

“King Brian, should we evacuate? Fera and the Azirians are nowhere to be seen. If we flee as fast as possible, we should be able to make a getaway.”

King Brian shook his head.

“Don’t be a fool. The storms alone would wipe us from the face of the planet.”

“Then…Then what can be done? Are we doomed to die here?”

King Brian shook his head.

“I don’t know but do not give up hope just yet. We must never stop thinking of a way out.”
