Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 85
Kazuki’s fist came crashing forward. The three energies of ki, aura, and magic fused together and coated his entire hand. Just when he was about to land a crucial blow, something appeared directly in his path.
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!*
“Heheheh, I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist trying to kill me.”
Fera taunted Kazuki. His fist stopped or rather was blocked by Fera’s black sword. Kazuki had moved faster than lightning and his speed reached a crazy level to where he appeared to have teleported. He was right in front of Fera and punched forward but at that exact moment, the damaged sword moved.
Fera knew Kazuki was coming, she knew his hatred was equal to hers and he would not give up this opportunity to kill her. She didn’t predict the sound attack would do as much damage as it did to her but in her mind, this was the perfect chance, and knew Kazuki would see this as his chance as well.
She waited for him to attack and teleported the damaged blade in front of her. The moment Kazuki punched out, he had no time to change its trajectory and landed a punch squarely on the tip of the blade.
The blade was sharp, incredibly so and up to this point it had cut through everything Kazuki had thrown at it including his flesh but this time it was different. With the three energies fused in his fist, this touch of death came into contact with the black sword, and instead of his fist being pierced through and split apart, the fused energy drilled out and into the blade.
Both Kazuki and Fera smiled at one another. The two were both full of confidence.
“Kazuki, your smile is irritating but this is your final moment, so I will watch as you die in ignorance and allow this last fragment of foolishness.”
Kazuki did not feel his soul being cut apart and destroyed. The moment his fist came in contact with the sword instead of Fera, there was clear doubt and worry. Fera had instantly lifted her power of space and unsealed the area for a split second. In that fraction of a second, she had teleported the black blade to defend and counter. She knew that Kazuki could have escaped the very second she lifted her domain of space but she also knew just how bad Kazuki wanted revenge upon her. She took a gamble and believed he valued her death more than he valued his own life and the gamble landed in her favor.
She moved her blade in front of Kazuki and his dangerous fist landed upon it.
Kazuki listened to Fera and found her little speech to be truly stupid. At first, he was fearful. The mysterious sword he thought he had destroyed, suddenly appeared directly in front of him. when he and the blade made contact, he thought for sure his soul would have been fucked but instead his power passed through and into the blade.
(She lifted her power over space for an instant just so she could retrieve her blade. But it’s too late. I may not have destroyed it with my sound attack but the touch of death drilled directly into it. That blade is finished.)
At the exact moment, Kazuki thought that a large crack stretched up the length of the blade. From the very tip and all the way down to its base. Fera was shocked. Her blade was a treasure of immense might. Something that stood out among nearly all magical weapons in this lower realm and even she did not believe it was possible for a being in this realm to destroy it but here it was before her very eyes.
This expression though did not last and her smile returned.
“That attack of yours, I’ll admit, it is something beyond this lower realm…but, what good is such an attack if you can no longer use it.”
Kazuki didn’t understand what she meant and before he could fully process what she meant, Fera sent a pulse of magic into the black blade. The black blade suddenly lit up and turned completely white. At the exact same time, Fera called out.
“SOUL BLADE! SEAL FOR ME!*
The very moment she roared, a strange power shot out from the end of the sword and rushed towards Kazuki’s chest.
Kazuki instantly raised his arms in defense but it was too late. The strange power went through his arms and entered his body, entered his soul world. Without stopping, the strange power landed upon his soul tree and covered it in a layer of this strange power.
*CHSHH*
The sword had taken far too much damage and after Fera used this ability, the crack flowing through it expanded and the entire sword shattered like glass. Tiny fragments rained down like powder and blew away in the wind. The black sword was no more.
“Damn, to think I had to use this treasure to his extent just to deal with a little shit like you. Fine, it doesn’t matter anyway. Once I ascend, I can get another treasure easily in one of the higher realms.”
The moment his soul tree was covered in this strange layer of power, Kazuki felt his connection to his soul had been severed. The white flames beneath his feet, holding him in the air and allowing him to fly, the moment his soul was sealed, the fire started to fade and go out.
He still had magic in his mage core but with him not being able to feel his soul, suddenly it became extremely difficult to use his magic. Kazuki fell out of the sky and Fera did not waste this chance.
She used her gravity and wrapped it around Kazuki, increasing his weight by millions of pounds. At the same time, the red lightning cracking in the sky came crashing down towards Kazuki.
“With your soul sealed, it’s almost impossible to sue magic. At the same time, I’ve cut you completely off from using aura. Finally, I shall destroy you once and for all and remove the stain from the history of you ever being a part of my family.”
Kazuki circulated his ki through his mind and calmed himself.
(I can’t use my aura until I remove this strange energy from my soul tree. As for my magic…)
Taking a deep breath, Kazuki concentrated on his mage core.
(MOVE!)
Beneath his body, tiny sparks flitted in and out of existence.
Concentrating to his utmost limit, Kazuki roared inside his head.
(I SAID! MOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVE!)
The flow of energy coming from his Mage core was like sticky mud but with Kazuki’s focus and his power of will, he commanded his power and it listened. Like a mighty dam being torn through, his flow of magic could not be stopped.
The tiny sparks beneath him erupted and became orange-red flames and instantly became blue before then burning hotter and brighter and transforming into a fiery inferno hotter than the sun.
Kazuki even though he had fire beneath him, Fera’s gravity was pulling him down at a terrifying speed. He was confident the fall would not kill him but the fiery red bolts of lightning chasing him toward the ground was a different story entirely.
(She still underestimates me.)
The gate fused to his soul tree opened up and began to spin.
(DEVOUR!)
The gravity pulling him to the ground, in an instant was taken into his soul world and devoured by the miniature blackhole. With his body freed from gravities pull, he didn’t try and dodge the lightning and instead flew directly up to meet it.
The red lightning came striking at his body but before it could even touch him, the devouring power within ate away and consumed most of the energy. By the time the red bolts struck him, they were doing less and less damage.
He had already eaten plenty of them before and his body had grown slightly stronger, now he instantly chowed down on hundreds all at once. The power of fused energy was something that most beings could never truly understand nor grasp. It was a power that defied most logic and could destroy all that one holds dear. Fro Kazuki though, these red bolts were like a welcome enhancement. They were a godsend.
Unfortunately, the meal was promptly cut short when Fera saw this.
“Damn you, greedy fat bastard. You dare take my power and add it to your own. How…With your soul sealed, how is it possible that you can still control your power? The difficulty has to be hundreds of times harder. What cheat are you using?”
Kazuki slowly flew up until he was at eye level with her. Raising his hand, he revealed an empty hand. He had tucked his storage ring in his shirt earlier after his hand was cut off. He wondered if Fera would even realize what he meant by showing an empty hand but surprisingly she understood right away.
“No ring, yet you can use magic without it.”
Fera became even more confused and angry.
“HOW!?”
Kazuki shrugged his shoulders.
“Why the fuck would I tell you?”
Kazuki really had no intention of telling Fera a god damn thing but at this moment, he was truly thankful to Zetrazz. Without him teaching Kazuki his aura breath, Kazuki would never have mastered his control over magic to such an extent that a magic tool was no longer required to use magic.
Torzz watched this from a distance and even he was confused.
“This human can use magic without a tool. That is too rare. I knew it, this human needs to be destroyed no matter what.”
Zetrazz heard his brother and laughed.
“Heh. Afraid of what you don’t understand. Kazuki’s talent is something one can not see in a thousand years and yet you want to destroy him. You really are pathetic.”
