ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 359: Dragon! Dragon! Part 24 Part 1

There was a triple clash, and the impact upon the shield was so great that it ended up pushing me backwards.

Still, I won’t fall here! I won’t bend my knee! My resolve will not break! As long as I have people behind my back (which is very unlikely in this scenario), my Guardian Heart will not give up!

The skill “Guardian Heart” is a skill related to shields exclusively. As long as you have party members behind your back, when blocking with your shield you are going to receive a stat bonuses all across the board. Additionally, during the defense, it lessens the amount of stamina you use and cuts the damage you are going to receive. Truly an ultimate defense skill.

However, if the shield breaks or your defensive stance falters, the effect of the skill is going to be ended instantly. And not to be a pessimist here, but the Dis Pater shield has already had its durability lowered quite a bit due to all the blocking and defending, and was now making an eerie cracking noises. But I still have to do it! I must defend here, because this shield is the only thing that protects me from the triple laser beams.

「Kuh, NUUUUUUOOOOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!」」

I don’t have to look at Dis Pater to know that the shield was approaching its limits, and it was doing it fast. It was yet to reach its breaking point, but at this rate this moment would come sooner rather than later.

「…… Time for the counterattack.」

However, to put things in another way, it was only working for my advantage that the shield managed to withstand so much punishment here. And it managed to do so rather spectacularly.

And it is because of that that I must prove it. I must prove that all this abuse and destruction was well worth it. To that end, I needed results.

Here, I thrust Memento Mori into the ground to give myself some foothold, and I take out a bladeless knife with an embedded crystal from my inventory. Then I stab myself with the poison blade to the torso and thighs, which should allow me to activate the true power of the Dis Pater. I shout out the words.

「“CONVERSION!”」

The red magical power absorbed by the Mirror Shield turns into bright flames. No, that’s not it. It should be said that the power that simply could not be contained inside of the shield decided to take the form of formidable flames.

Because of the black mourning dress it should be really hard to tell that right about now I was basically on fire. But basically, my whole body was now one big poison curse wound, so setting it on fire should not make that much of the difference here. Besides, burning is a small price to pay for ultimate power needed to win this battle once and for all.

Both my shield and I are full of cracks right now, but you are gravely mistaken if you think that this means we are fragile. No, truth to be told, we are fragile, but it’s this kind of fragile where you simply need to dish out one million damage against your opponent before they managed to deal one damage to you.

「Say, should you really be in such a state for such a long time? Won’t your clothes simply start to burn away?」

「Turning my HP into charcoal is all part of the plan. You would not get it, so please shut the fuck up and just watch.」

「Hey, hey! Don’t talk to me with such passion in your voice here! This will only make me want to give you a nice and tight hug!」

「I’m going to slap you one hundred times if you ever try to do that.」

「That would actually feel like a reward here rather than punishment……」

Maybe I should have just thrown something at her? That should have silence her up nicely.

And maybe it was my imagination here, or maybe I was just seeing things because of all of the light shining brightly here right now, but I was getting a feeling that right now, all of the dragon heads were turning towards me, even those that were previously occupied with other players. And their eyes were all burning with pure and unadulterated hate.

「Qiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaa！！」

Its whole body bent in a weird way. Contrary to its previous actions this one looked almost organic and natural, as if all of its muscles all over its body spasmed violently at the same time. Was it intentional, or was it also a scripted event?

The giant red mass starts charging forward here. But the speed of this charge was really slow, as if the red mass had problems with moving the way it wanted to move. It was certainly way slower than when it was wrestling against the tri-headed Tyranno, that’s for sure.

Sure, I can avoid it no problem here, but…… Let’s use that opportunity to get even more assault power here, shall we?

I press against the Memento Mori that was still lodged into the ground to tilt it slightly. But instead of taking it in my hand, I create a sort of a pillar or a road that was leading from the ground all the way to my shoulder. An oversized blade like that was a perfect bridge in this scenario.

And then a certain bunny used that road to run up and jump right on top of my head.

「Emul!」

「Yes, sir! “FULL COUNTER REFLECTION!!!”」

A spell generating a conditional reflection barrier is erected right in front of us. The Great Red Devourer was still charging at us, without showing any signs of stopping. Either it did not know what it was, or maybe did not understand how exactly it worked here, or maybe it did but was intending on breaking through it with brute force alone…… Either way, it works in our favor here. Sweet.

But just so you know, this wall may seem fragile, but it is not something that can just be broken, you know?

「You’ll find it pretty hard, but by all means, go right ahead and give it your best shot!! Just do it!」

「You bitch! Do you want me to step all over you so badly!?」

There was a loud roaring sound. With that, the body of the Great Red Devourer crushed right into the Counter Wall, and upon impact with an object that should not even be there to begin with, its whole body distorts in a very unnatural way. After all, it’s as if you crushed into your own mirrored image, with the same speed and same power as you were going with. Now, please writhe in agony and even faint from it, if you’d be so kind…… You can do that for us, right? You can certainly afford an action like that, but I certainly cannot afford being run over by you here like that.

However, even though the crush into the counter wall was so mighty, it does not look as if the Great Red Devourer was in any sort of agony in here.

Being such a giant mass of flesh, there is no way that the Great Red Devourer can just keep on rolling like that without stopping. There will come a time where it will need to stop, no matter if its aggro is pushing it forward all the time or not. However, is that really going to be the case here? I turn towards the dragon heads, having my doubts……

「Big Brother.」

「As in, a hole?」

「You really could at least TRY to stop yourself from making everything sound sexual, you know?」

It was at this moment that tri-headed Tyranno came back into action, biting into the tail of the Great Red Devourer. It may have many heads available to it, but as long as they all share one body, there was nothing that the Great Red Devourer could do now, and it was stopped in its tracks. Of course, it was still struggling to break free here, but with little to no effect.

「Right.」

With that being said and done, I pick up Aradval Rebuild again and go back to my old reliable dual wielding fighting style.

「Let’s get it over with right here right now.」

While the Great Red Devourer is still being preoccupied with the tri-headed Tyranno holding onto it, I brandish my oversized sword and take a couple of mighty swings in its general direction.

What about Tottori? Did he manage to get into a safe distance? Oh well, we are going to worry about that some time later. This is just a game, so it’s not actually that big of a deal here…… Even when it comes to shitty games, there is no greater feeling than putting all of your resources to good use! After all, there is no great victory without first having to put some effort and sacrifices into it! This is what we call a catharsis!

「Emul, listen well: Deepslaughter there should be ready to fire at any moment now…… But honestly, she’s scaring me just a little bit…..」

「I know how you feel, Sanraku-san!」

「Why do I feel that you guys are trash-talking me behind my back……?」

I activate a bunch of skill one after another, all with the end goal of strengthening one final attack. Acceleration skills will strengthen the body, mobility skills will make me impossible to catch, and the weapons that I am holding onto shine with bright light that almost look like flames.

「Oh yeah, that’s right, Sanraku-kun……?」

「What now?」

Looking behind me, I can see Deepslaughter getting ready as well. Then, she asks me but one single question with a rather casual smile on her face.

「–––––– Are you having fun right now?」

「You can probably tell, don’t you?」

I’m not going to look back anymore. Right now thanks to the black thunder I am running so fast that if I were to lose my focus here I might trip over my own legs, fall to the ground and die. However, such movement speed is more than enough, and even if there was an attack coming from the two locked monsters in front of me, I will be able to see it coming thanks to my skills.
