「I know that they are the bad guys here, but I just can’t help it but to feel pity for them……」

Well, thinking about it logically, right now I am approximately one and a half times stronger than when we last met. No scratch that. When you take my skills into consideration, that would be a couple times stronger than those guys. And since they are all NPCs here, my current equipment might be a little bit of an overkill for them, but the fact that I have that veil on my face works to conceal my identity, which is a good added bonus.

Alright then, no use just sitting on my ass and wait for the situation to develop.

It’s time for some action once again!

「There we go!」

One of the knights, and it just happened to be Julian, the Sword of Desperation, drew his sword. It was probably to boost the morale of his men and to show the rest of the gathered people that he would not allow to be taken lightly here. Even though the situation was like that, he must have been sure that he would be able to carry out his plan to the end.

「Men, prepare for ba……!」

「Whoa there, you might want to hold your horses for a moment!」

The only goal of the knights here was to rob the king of his life. And surely, there are quite a few inconveniences in the way for them to do just that. That’s just the way it is for those born to wield power. Like the First Prince, there will always be someone who is willing to do the most unspeakable things in order to get that power for themselves. It’s just sad that in this case the son was actively seeking to get his own father killed.

This means that even if by some miracle the Princess’s life would be spared, the king was the only one who simply had to die in this scenario.

The Sword of Desperation is not the title that is merely for decoration here. It is also not a lie. I get a feeling that Julian is really strong, strongest amongst the knights gathered here. I have no way of checking that, but I am also sure that his Technique and Dexterity must have reached truly monstrous levels.

Julian also possesses a deadly one handed sword skill called “Desperate One Stab”. It is a skill that abandons the mobility in favor of utilizing one single stab, raising its power and effectiveness to the levels of one-hit kill technique. The stab is usually aimed at the opponent’s vital spots, and because it has the high chance of landing a successful critical hit, it forces his opponents to abandon the offensive in favor of throwing everything they have to the defense. But since the king is literally helpless and has no fighting prowess whatsoever, the sheer attack power of this skill should be enough to kill him. Instant death effect is not even a concern here.

But still, even so……

Deepslaughter was having a triumphant smile on her lips, and the King was still as calm as ever, not even showing the slightest bit of concern here. Julian could not understand that, and it was only driving his irritation and frustration further. What is going on here?

「–––– I am the Sword of Vengence.」

Before long, the answer appears right before the Third Knight.

A lone shadow appears in the sky. It blocks the way of the rising sun, casting another, longer shadow onto the ground, that seemed to have prevented Julian from approaching the King .

Only those who have seen it during the battle with the Red Dragon know what it is. But even without that, it is not all that hard to guess who it belongs to or what it means……

「That sword, this is……!?」

「–––– I am the wandering sword. I do not strike on my own, but I entrust myself fully to those who have the resolve to wield me.」

A figure lands on the ground from the sky, making surprisingly little noise. Then, that figure thrusts its huge sword into the ground.

This figure looked like a mourning woman, and the sword stuck in the ground resembled a grave marker. But at the same time, the white skin and the black dress made the figure resemble a Grim Reaper about to start its harvest.

「–––– I am the sword that grants wishes to those unable to make them come true on their own. I am the sword that cuts and tears through unfinished businesses.」

Two golden swords appeared in the figure’s hands. Though its mouth was covered by the black veil, its every single word was echoing loudly throughout the otherwise silent frontline base.

「–––– I am the sword that enforces justice. I am the sword that punished the wicked and banishes the evil.」

With the left sword at rest, the right sword gets pointed directly towards the Third Knight, Julian…… Ah, now I see it. This karma value truly is something else.

「–––– I am the instrument of vengeance. Now that the sword has been drawn, it won’t stop until the evil is rooted out and the small wish is fulfilled.」

Behind the figure’s back, there was an emblem that slowly started to bloom, looking as though it was weaved with bright light.

It was an emblem with the image of a lone swordsman. That swordsman had sharp eyes and a equally sharp beak on his face, and a pair of wings growing on his back, one of the bright flame and the other made out of raging thunder. The swordsman was holding onto a sword which looked as though it was being pointed at the enemy, and there was an image of a woman standing behind him. More than a swordsman, this emblem looked as though it was imagining an ancient beast or a demon.

「Now talk about having one heck of a flashy appearance…… Just don’t complain to anyone later when they are going to ridicule you for that later, huh? Sanrakukun~~~……」

Once the oath of the avenging sword is established, the only way left for it now is to simply fulfill its purpose and eradicate all evil.

Fueehhh…… I knew it, it’s way too much work than what’s it worth.

Making decisions on the spot is fine, I guess. And striking a pose is fine as well, at least that’s what I think here. But why even do such a thing and needlessly complicate things for yourself? What even is this skill? Isn’t that basically like trying to recite tongue twisters while running at full speed?

The skill “Revenge’s Code” is a skill that can only be unlocked and used by those who have acquired the class of “Avenger”. That much should be obvious from the name of the skill alone. Also, there are more skills from this particular class, and they all correlate to the target’s karma level in one way or another.

For example, the skill “Revenge’s Analyze”. It is a skill that allows the user to visualize the karma levels of anyone the user is currently looking at as longs as this skill is in effect.

Next we have the skill “Revenge’s Call”. It is a skill that displays a specific oaths to be recited in a specific window, and once you do that, the player will receive a tremendous boosts to all of their stats, and that boost is scaling with the karma level of the opponent that the Avenger picked as his/her target.

And lastly, we have the skill “Revenge’s Fatality”. It is a skill that increases the damage your weapon is supposed to deal while scaling the damage boost to the amount of the opponent’s karma value. Also, it seem that if you manage to defeat your opponent while this skill is still active, some additional effect is going to occur as well.

Now, about the main cause of this here problem and my target, the Third Knight Julian the…… Sword of Despair? Ahh, to hell with that. Insignificant detail. I can see that Julian’s karma value sits at about…… five thousand one hundred twenty.

I have no way of verifying if that value is big or small, but there is one thing I can say here for sure…… The buff that I am getting because of that is quite big, which is a good thing for me.

So, with all that, you know, how should I say it……?

「I’m sorry, but I don’t exactly feel like losing right now.」
