ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 368: The Wisdom of Looking Back at Things After the Fact Part 1

It should not come as a surprise when I say that today’s session was abundant with plenty of events. Those events were all crazy, and each consecutive event was even crazier than the one before it. Therefore, it should also come as no surprise that right about now I was starting to feel the effects of this severe mental exhaustion finally hitting me. And due to that severe mental exhaustion I decided to log out for now and have my well-earned rest.

The place I have crawled out of right now was a secret hideout in the middle of the woods that I have intimidated…… I mean, asked one of the People of the Forest to make for me just to be on the safe side. Next, I have confirmed that my body had successfully reverted back to my natural male form. Satisfied with learning that, I equipped the bird head mask on my face and started to stretch lightly, as was my usual morning ritual.

「Hey there, Emul! Pretty nice morning we have here, huh?」

「Sanraku-san, you may try to sound refreshing here, but that look on your face is telling me that you think all BUT the good things right about now.」

「And what was that supposed to mean, you cheeky brat?」

However, the fact that the Saint-chan did not include the Maremen in her premonition…… what is up with that? I can’t help it but to think that it was also a sort of a flag here, but not necessarily of a good kind.

But if I were to talk to someone about my worries, they would certainly end up laughing at me here…… especially Pencilgton and that stupid pervert Deepslaughter. However even though my perfect escape plan was no executed nearly as perfect as I would have wanted it to go, I must say that overall I have succeeded in doing what I wanted to do. That is making my escape out of there. But still…… It might have been a huge mistake to let everyone there know that I could also assume the form of a woman. In any case, it would be wise to hole myself up somewhere and wait for the freshly made commotion to naturally die down…… No, wait just a second here……

「Could it be that…… No, but it would be too good to be true here…… But still…… Maybe I don’t have to do that? Or rather, there is no need for me to hole myself up in this particular case?」

When it comes to Gravekeeper Wezaemon and Kutanid of the Abyss it was only natural that I was feeling reluctant about disclosing any kind of information about them, because they were Unique Monsters, something that was secret and unique even through the standards of this game. However, raid bosses should not be judged by the same standards. When it comes to raid bosses, they are a feature that is a given in various MMOs, there are not something that you should keep secret. That being said, there is a certain possibility for me here. If only I can drop a bomb in here called “The Great Red Devourer”, I should be able to divert at least some portion of this unwanted attention towards Tottori and Deepslaughter, earning for myself at least small amount of breathing space. But no, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. This way, I am only going to pump my motivation up only for it to plummet right down with time. For now I am going to sleep, and when I wake up we can think what to do next.

「Alright, Emul! Let’s go! No use in sitting here on our asses and doing nothing, so let us go back to Rabbit for the time being!」

「Yes, sir!」

Alright, we are back in Rabbitz for the time being. Now, what to do……

「Say, Emul?」

「Yes? What is it?」

「Since we are so tired from all that’s happened in the past couple of hours, what do you say we skip the reporting to your Papa about our battle against the Great Red Devourer for now and just go and hit the sack for now? He’s not going anywhere, so there is no need to be in any kind of a rush, right?」

「Umm, Sanraku-san? I don’t think that acting so selfish here is a good idea.」

Man, if there is one thing that I really hate about this game is that the time in here marches on just like the one in the real world. Oh well, no use bitching about it, since there is nothing I can really do about it…… So, shall we go and report everything that has transpired for now?

Having said that, together with Emul we walked through the crowded streets of Rabbitz and entered the Bunny Court. Even though the hour was still pretty early, this place was as busy and lively as ever. So, without getting side-tracked anywhere else we went towards the place where Weissash would usually be. On a side note here, I was wondering as of late: if the number on my Vorpal Soul gauge falls below a certain acceptable umber, does that mean I will be denied the possibility of entering here? Would I be unable to see Weissash? That would certainly put a wrench in some of my plans.

I mean, Vorpal Soul is important, but I must not let it rule my actions in this game. So it would be best to farm for materials when I need to do so, as well as all the other necessary actions to be carried out as per usual. So it would only make sense to go and see Weissash after fighting a boss monster or some unique and hard encounter, when I know that the Vorpal Soul gauge would surely go up without issue.

And surely, we have found Weissash sitting in his usual spot, eating some kind of dark tube…… No, wait? Was that…… Yeah, it was. It was a really strange carrot, because it was long and thin, and slightly dark in color. But that is not important here. For now, reporting everything that has transpired thus far is what is important. So we did just that, relating to Weissash the details of the battle we have fought with the Great Red Devourer.

「…… Well, all in all, together with Emul we somehow managed to survive this ordeal, so I guess that a good thing, yeah.」

「In my personal opinion, Sanraku-san’s Vorpal Soul really managed to shine bright throughout this whole encounter!」

「Hoo….. I see, I see.」

As per usual, the aura surrounding Weissash was that of a bunny that was actually a mob boss. It was an aura that was hardly appropriate for a fantasy game or for any NPC for that matter. Still, after hearing all that, Weissash looked towards the ceiling, with a look on his face as if he just remembered something from a distant past.

「Great Red Devourer…… Yes, this name is certainly that of an absolute abomination, but it also brings back so many memories……」
