ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 400: Thin One Jumping Out Again Part 2

And while I was wondering what was going to happen here, it seems that the trio of players encountered a monster on their way.

「Whoa there! They better watch out! This looks really dangerous!」

Yeah, this is really dangerous. I mean, the thing that is dangerous is obviously the monster here, not the players that encountered it.

「Is that a snake!? Or maybe it’s an eel!? But anyways, is that a monster that can even be defeated by them!?」

I see, just what you would expect out of the desert area. I think it would actually be hard to encounter an eel outside of water areas, but snakes are hardly anything out of the ordinary on the desert. But judging by the look of this monster it must be a cobra-type, and those guys are usually really strong. This might actually get really ugly really soon.

Oh my? And just what is that supposed to be?

「Run away! Run like you mean it! Oh my God! We are all going to die if we don’t hurry! We are going to be eaten for sure!!!」

It seems that is not a cobra, or even a snake to begin with! Is this a desert worm? Yeah, I think that this might be it. But wait, why the hell are those guys coming this way!?

Looking behind the three players who were running away, you could see a huge desert warm popping in and out of the sand as it gave chase, raising clouds of sand and dust in the air. I understand that they are trying to haul ass as fast as possible here, but do they really have to be running this way? At this rate they are going to get me, and innocent bystander, involved in this, which would really suck here.

God fucking damn it! Could it be that this thing is actually being attracted to me because the carved wounds on my body!? So most probably even if those chumps would not want to try and dump this monster onto me, it would still be going here!? But what the hell!? Bring it on, you assholes! You want to take me down!? Fine! But if I am to go down, I’ll be sure to take you down there with me!

「Wait you bastaaaaaaaaaaaarrrdddsss!!!!!!!!!!!!」

「Huh?」

「Eh?」

「Haa?」

With that warcry let out loud, the three players could see a half-naked bird-head person emerging from beneath the sand, two swords in his arms and at the ready. And he was fast approaching the escaping group.

Alright, how about we let the aggro stick to you three chumps, huh? You are cool with that, huh? And with that being said, let me welcome you inside of an express train straight to hell!

「GYAAAAAAHHHHHH!?!?!?」

「Hey, yo! What the fuck!? Watch where you point those weapons of yours!?」

「Ah, y-you are the one from that one time before…… H-Hey, aren’t you that Sanraku person!?」

「Whoa there! You look as if you have been upgraded, even though your appearance looks mostly the same!」

Hmm? These guys seem to know me…… Hm? Wait a second here. A knight? A thief? A magic caster? I think that I actually remember seeing those guys somewhere before…… One guys and two girls, almost like a harem situation…… Ohh! Yeah! That’s right, now I remember!

「Yeah! You three chumps are the guys from that one time, aren’t you! If my memory serves me correctly…… Shoma, Kiho, and Rima?」

「Hey! The least you could do here is to properly learn the names of people that you meet! My name is Soma!」

「And my name is Kaho!」

「And I’m Lina!」

Those guys are the same bunch that mistook me for a monster all the way back when I first started to play this game! Seriously now, to think that we would meet again in a place like this…… But wait, no, that’s not it! That’s not what’s important now!

「The hell are you guys doing!? You must repel that monster!」

「Haah!? Are you out of your mind!? Beat a monster like that……」

I think that’s it is time for me to launch the Critical Speed – Bradion – ! A spacious environment, a huge-ass enemy…… Yes, those conditions are more than perfect.

「Well, if you don’t beat it, then you are all going to be eaten by it, is that what you want!? I’ll take care of the aggro here, and you flank it and attack it! I will leave the DPS to you, guys!」

「Wait, what the hell is DPS even supposed to mean!?」

「Oh my God….. IT LITERALLY STANDS FOR ‘DAMAGE PER SECOND’!!!!!!!!!」

While I shout the official name of this acronym, I am already jumping in the air.

If I had to compare the feeling of accelerating all of a sudden like that, it would be just like a car going from zero to one hundred miles per hour under a second. BOOM! The sand under my feet gets scattered around as if it exploded, and covered in blue-purple effect, my body starts to dance in the air.

「Now then……」

I activate the Quantum Gaze here just to be on the safe side. And as it turns out, the sand that gets ejected from the sides of this monster actually has damage area as well. So I must watch out for that if I don’t want to get any nasty surprise.

「But it should be more than enough to withstand the slip damage here……!」

I make the second step.

Positioning myself so that my feet face the sky, I plunge myself towards the Desert Worm that emerged out of the sand after hiding itself underground for a short moment. Judging by its movement, it wouldn’t be above the ground for too long.

「First Blood goes to me……!」

This here situation was as if two speeding cars near missed one another while heading in the opposite directions.

With both swords in my hands on the move, I slash the Desert Worm’s epidermis. The orbit and the speed of my attack was pretty good, and with my high Luck’s correction, I managed to land a successful critical hit without a problem.

「Hard bastard, aren’t you?」

I make the third step.

While trampling on the surface of the desert worm and performing a back somersault with an extremely high and fast jump that seems to follow its speed, I make a rough prediction from the feeling from the way in which my swords responded to the worm’s skin.

「Slashing is out of the question, huh……? But how about piercing attacks? …… But does this monster have any weaker spots, like joints? Then maybe magic? Decisions, decisions……」

And how about crushing attacks? It’s an insect, so it should be fairly susceptible to crushing attacks, even if it does not have organs that would take increased damage from that type of attacks.

「Equipment change time!」

I take out the Regalex Cestus from my inventory and equip it, effectively turning my hands into instruments meant to crush my enemies to dust.

In addition I activate here the skill God’s Hand and my Cestuses are covered in the silver and gold auras the moment I make a strike against the desert worm’s thickened hide.

In the next moment, BOOM! There was a loud sound of a strike connecting, and then the sickening sound of skin cracking and splitting apart. There was a huge dent in the place where I hit the desert worm.

「Ooohhh?」

Surely, the God’s Hand calculates damage in such a way that instead of the Luck modification it also applies a randomly selected number to the damage value, but…… No way, could it be that the RNG I got here was actually pretty decent? Or maybe even good?

Maaan, so even if my own firepower can be set pretty high, I can still get fucked over by RNG…… But I guess I should be happy with that, since if I was to try and do the same thing with some other stats than Luck, the result would have been even worse here.

So, can I actually do it? I mean, I had the strength enough to come here to the New Continent, so surely I can! …… At least I hope so……
