ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 404: Your Name Is a Plural Form Part 1

Utsuro Mikagami is a very useful skill. For example, not only you can deploy it as a decoy, but you can also see the bad-end patterns of certain actions and attacks. Think about it as a ‘What if…’ scenario, where you can watch ‘yourself’ getting defeated by the enemies, but from a third party’s perspective.

I have managed to confirm from the confines of the safe zone that the large numbers of smaller spiders covered the decoy completely like a swarm of locusts or something like that and then detonated themselves all at once. Unfortunately, it was still a mystery for me if the Armillet Gargantua was able to spot me up here or not. And how did I get here in the first place? Well, I happened to follow that mysterious figure…… A figure of a girl who led me into the safe zone that was deep inside of a cave that suddenly appeared right in from of me. I won’t lie, it was certainly nice to be able to feel safe for once after such a long time.

Hehehe, a whooping total amount of one hundred twenty crystal components from Armillet Gargantua……And the more you slash those monsters, the more components you can produce, it’s honestly kind of a mess, but a mess that I can somehow control.

「You dumbass! You stupid dumbass! And here I was telling you to hurry it up! Why would you even want to delay like that!? I told you specifically to not stop!」

「Because I have decided that the value of those crystals are too big to simply pass it up like that without even trying to get some of them.」

Throwing away something so good feels like such a waste, don’t you think? I mean, if I can pick something up, then why not? I mean, I can understand it if you have a limited inventory space and you need to manage it carefully. However, if you do not have to worry about that, like the infinite INVENTORY space-holder such as myself, then go for it!

However, even though this person may be my compatriot, she is armored to such an extent that I hazard a guess that if she was to be hit with the impact of the suicide bomb attack, she would hardly even flinch and she would just casually brush it off. I would even hazard a guess that if I were to smash my Whale Rabbit Moon against that thick armor of hers, it would bounce off of her or it would straight up shatter to pieces.

「Hmph! A-Anyways, since I have saved your ass out there, the least you can do here is to show a little bit of appreciation!」

Contrary to the tone of her voice, the mysterious girl started to pick up rocks that were laying all the sides of the hole, and in a matter of seconds thanks to her speed, strength and skillful movements she managed to seal off the entrance. There was a certain beauty and craftsmanship to her moves right there.

Speaking of craftsmanship, it somehow reminded me of the building skills of the People of the Forest. However, even though I was trying to pay a close attention to her, nothing in her movements or appearance was reminding me of the Elves. Besides, if there were some things in common here, it would have been one heck of an coincidence, even for an NPC. So, could it be that the knack for building is the personal trait of that NPC? Or maybe it is something race-specific? I mean, outside of the People of the Forest, of course……

No, not that. First of all here……

「Yeah, not that I want to brag in here, but in my opinion my work is getting better and better with every passing day! …… Alright, now that’s been taken care of, follow me!」

Is this chick really a human, I wonder?

Once the girl said to follow her she goes deeper and deeper into the malformed passage that was located deeper in the cave. While following her I tried to lift one of the discarded rocks that she was piling up so swiftly and with such ease…… and the blasted thing would not move even for an inch.

It is only my guess here, but I guess this object is not only a rock when it comes to appearance, but the inside contents as well. So could it be that my Strength stat is so low that I cannot lift a single rock?…… No, better not jump to conclusions here.

I also get the feeling that this cave is way too well-leveled to be called a naturally created formation, and at the same time it was something that looked way too complex to be a mere tunnel.

If I were to hazard a guess here, it looked like someone got into a naturally formed cave and then adapted it for their own use or taste…… But it would be strange why someone would want to do something like that in the first place here.

「But at least it is supposed to be safe in here?」

At the top of the cliff there is only Laser Hell. At the bottom of the cliff we have the regular World War being waged. I was sure that there would be no safe space anywhere near the cliff and that I would have to venture outside of its area, but…… I see how it is. If you want to hide a tree, what better place to do it than in a forest? For now I would like to believe that I am in no immediate danger of death, so I might actually want to drink a recovery potion while I’m at it here.

Well now, with that being said. This here should be a Unique Scenario, am I right? Recently I feel like I have been collecting Uniqueness like it was nothing. Next time I see Katsu I must show off to him in order to rain on his parade, yeah.

However, the cave itself is most probably a hidden area, and the possibility of being a fixed NPC behind it cannot be ruled out at the moment. And just because it’s a Unique Scenario doesn’t mean that this NPC is an ally here.

I still have my own set of Unique Quests to push forward, like the ones tied to Rabbitz. That being said, it is still unknown what kind of quests I would have to do in order to advance them.

On the surface, I seem to be relaxed by the relief of reaching the safety zone. But in my heart I sharpen my consciousness so that I can respond to any surprise attack if worse comes to worst.

The cave seems to continue deeper than I originally expected, and it’s so dim in here…… I mean, there was no lights in here, so even walking straight was somewhat of a challenge now.

「So, yeah. Thanks again for the help, but…… This location is really neat and all that, but…… just how long have you been living in here?」

「…… Hmm, for as long as I can remember.」

The noise from the warzone neighborhood must be pretty terrible in here, I presume……

The tunnel was long, but not TOO long. Soon enough, led by the mysterious girl we have arrived at a very spacious location.

Good, it’s just the right size for a fight if the need arises. However, the Critical Speed cannot be used in such a small space, l would turn into a stain on the wall instantly. When it comes to that, I will leave the mobility to Overflow effect …… Don’t be afraid here, me! Now, let’s proceed with the event!

「…… So? Am I supposed to believe that you have helped me out of the goodness of your heart?」

「…… B-But of course not! We will have you do something for us in return here! For starters…… Oh yeah, let’s start with that!」

“Us”……? No, now is not the time for questions. Saying that, the girl got closer to me, and then even closer. Should I get ready to run away? Well, it’s an option, but……Oh well, we shall wait and see.

「I saved you there, right!? So it’s only natural that you should help me out in return!」

「Seems logical to me.」

This place is dim. Like, too dim. It’s as dark as the world at morning, when the sun only start to raise up over the horizon. That is why the girl’s silhouette is slightly vague here to me. Her outfit looked strange, almost as colorful as that of a daruma doll.

Hmm? Again with the déjà vu feeling…… No, no matter what, I can’t quite put my finger on this feeling.

「…… But you know, I wouldn’t ask for help from some random stranger.」

「Hmm? So that means that I’m someone you can trust?」

「I dunno. I guess we’ll see.」
