ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 408: Passing Through the Crystals Part 1

By using the Critical Speed – Bradion – that is in my possession, I can reach the top of the Crystal Crown Cliffs in a time that is as short as a blink of an eye. That is way faster than I would have been able to do that by using any normal means. Which is even more amazing considering just how far up above this place is located to begin with. Our target? The domain of the Emperor Scorpions. To be more specific, we talk about that one Emperor Scorpion that already lost its tail stinger to me, so its ability to absorb magic particles from the air should already be pretty much weakened. That, and we should probably no longer need to worry ourselves about being caught in any nasty surprise attacks. Or at least I hope it’s going to be like that.

「Alright, Elma, this is it! Here we go…… But honestly, your name it’s too long. And it’s kind of a mouthful. I’m going to call you Sigma from now on, how about that? I just lent you all of those weapons, so I expect the battle results to be nothing less than that! Understand!?」

「Correction: My name is Elma 317 Sigma. However, since shortening one’s name is something that is necessary for carrying out successful combat operations, doing so is strongly advised. Also, since the above name meets the required standards for identification purposes, the corresponding voice line and name are going to be used from this point forward.」

「Alright! So if there are no complaints, without any further ado….. Let us start the operation!」

「Beginning the process of referring to the Contractor’s genetic information…… Accessing the Storage Space – INVENTORY – ……Downloading the armament information and schematics…… Deploying the equipment!」

Up until now, Sigma has been clinging to my back with its one intact arm without letting me go even for a moment. But after speaking those lines out loud it lets go of me. At that same time, I start to operate my inventory window in a hurry, filling the appropriate equipment columns one after another. Alright, that should do it nicely!

「–––––– Unit’s code name: Non-Standard Special Reinforced Armor “Genbu”, assuming system control. Beginning the process of connecting the temporary energy supply line to one’s own reactor core…… Connection established. Establishing visual controls via the Eye Control Hub……!!」

Uwahh, those lines were so good and sounded so cool! I can clearly see that this piece of junk is trying to reinforce the robotic aspect of its character here. Not that I mind, though. It’s actually pretty swell, if I’m being completely honest.

If I was the one who would try to equip this armor on my body, it would have been destroyed after a couple of seconds do to the nature of the Luukan’s current curse. However, in Sigma’s case, the parts of the armor slowly materialize in the air from the void, and the robot equips them so naturally that you would not normally believe that it was not its first time ever doing so. Now it remains to be seen if the newly equipped parts are going to be enough to compensate for the elements that Sigma was missing here. But once all elements of the power armor are in their place, Sigma tries to move its arms and legs around to get a feel for it. It looked really weird, but apparently everything was the way it was supposed to be.

「Installation of the armaments successful. Contractor…… No, Master, I’m ready to heed your orders!」

「Alright! Let’s do this!」

Here goes the first of the Non-Standard Armaments: Steel Wire Type Weapon, “Keep Out”! In terms of Weapon Types, it is a Rope-Type Weapon that is pretty much similar to that rope that Katsu was using during the fight against Gravekeeper Wezaemon.

As for the weapons that Sigma was using, there is a disk-like weapon that is attached to its arm. Also, the appearance of the piece of junk itself undergone a change as well, transforming from its usual girlish appearance to that of a dragon machine-like creature. Then it begins to rotate slightly in place. This thing used to look like a rope weapon at first glance, but now I am not so sure about it anymore…… But hey, if you just wear those armor pieces and weapons and you won’t do anything with them, looks alone won’t win us this fight, you know!?

「As for the name of this operation, I shall name it as: The Operation Nouveau Richeau Player……!!」

Now for the equipment pieces that are going to be vital and necessary for this operation to end in a resounding success: Dis Pater shield! And then we also have the guts to never give up, as well as a whole lot of vitality and stamina!

「Alright! Everything’s ready! Let’s get this show on the road!」

Up until now I have died over twenty times just so that I could see this operation come to fruition! So let me proclaim this right here and right now, Emperor Scorpion! There is no future for you anymore here! Resistance is futile! So do us all a favor here and drop dead, why don’t you……!?

If the color of its body changes, this means that it’s a preliminary action that is going to shift into a laser attack. Basically, our strategy here is to predict the next incoming attack and then crying to catch the “core” of the laser and reflect it back at the Crystal Scorpion the moment it will come out of its body in order to obliterate us.

Basically, a single-shot laser is an action taken for a short time reaction, a three-way laser is something meant for a medium reaction, and extra-thick laser cannon is something that is meant for long reaction that needs the appropriate preparations. We don’t have to worry about the extra-thick laser cannon if we keep it occupied with short and medium range all the time. Needless to say, Sigma was informed about it as well, so that it could know what to expect and how to do things when the appropriate time comes.

But here lies a certain very serious problem: it is that the three-way and single laser shots tend to scatter all over the God-damned place when they happen to hit a field object of any kind. And then there is the problem regarding the gimmick of this place in particular. You see, the Tsarberyl Emperor Crystal has the nasty ability to reflect the light of the lasers, ricocheting them around even further like billiard balls. Fortunately for us, the speed of the ricocheting lasers is not anything all that impressive or dangerous…… At least it is not like that when you compare it to the speed of someone like Gravekeeper Wezaemon and his Ultra-fast attacks and techniques such as Tachikaze. That being said, it is certainly something that can be avoided if you are careful and pay close attention to it. However, the trajectory itself here is something that cannot actually be predicted all that well and you need to always be vigilant for it, unless you want to have a bad time.
