ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 443 Part 2

ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 443: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 20 Part 2

「…… I’m sorry, Suzaku. I may be a little rough with you, but please bear with me for a while, will you?」

「SURE THING. I DON’T MIND.」

「NUUUOOOHHH!?」

A “Red” line starts to trace through the sky. No, that’s not it. That was not the vile and repulsive red of the Great Red Devourer. It was the beauty of pure scarlet wings.

The Cremation Blade. A weapon that was once used to pacify the rampaging wolf who was like the incarnation of the night itself. Right about now that same blade was in the hands of the crimson machine with lustrous wings that was soaring through the skies, about ready to fulfill its original purpose.

The machine tackled Siegwurm at full speed, and the attack was so fast that Siegwurm failed to evade it and was forced to take it head on. Fortunately, Akitsu Akane managed to evacuate from the Golden Dragon and was right now back on Noirlind’s back, looking at the surprise attacker.

「R-Robot? A robot!? Seriously!?」

「…… Worry not, the cavalry has arrived. Good job so far, Akitsu Akane.」

「Eh? Ah? Rust-san!?」

It was a red humanoid machine that hovers in mid-air thanks to the propulsion engines accompanied by the heat waves emitted by its metal scarlet wings that were placed at the level of the machine’s waist. The humanoid with wings seems to be a bird-human hybrid, but if you look closely it will turn out that it’s wings are actually detached from its limbs, not making for a unified whole. So it was actually something else entirely.

The position of its wings was a little low and unusual, so it was more accurate to describe that machine like an “angel” instead of “bird”.

「WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? A METAL—FEATHERED BUG!?」

「Ah, umm, how should I put it……? It is someone from the same guild…… Ah! Yes! That’s right! It’s a friend!」

「FUHN……」
「Hey, Noirlind! Here’s a message from out boss: we are going to overcome you. We are going to overcome Siegwurm. We are going to overcome every single one of you.」

「WHAT WAS THAT?」

「And here’s some more! “Hey Noirlindy! Since you are all talk about defeating Siegwurm, why won’t you try to beat him like a man, on the ground! Only cowards fly in the air! Yo!” …… something like that.」

「…………」

「…………」

「…… Ekhem. Please don’t think about it all too hard. After all, it’s just some pre-recorded message. Nothing to ponder your head over so needlessly.」

What followed was a truly awkward silence that Rust tried to make up for with some cheap excuses that she came up with on the spot. But after another moment she just gave up on this idea and instead turned the Crimson machine and its blade back towards Siegwurm. The heat radiating from her blade was similar to that of Aradval, but you could definietely tell that it was something else entirely. It was a blazing fire derived from the wisdom of the Old Gods.

「…… Just so you know, I really hate the kind of opponents who are all high and mighty when they have the advantage, but then they get all weak and cared once they are out of their comfort zone.」

「ARE THOSE THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE PAST THAT I HEAR……? KUKUKU, IF THAT’S SO, THEN I WONDER WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?」

「…… I’m not really all that proud about it myself, but right now I stand…… corrected.」

Down there on the ground, something blinked for a moment like a shooting star on the night sky. And then something started to climb its way from bottom to the top, apparently only targeting Siegwurm……

「Just so you know, we are pretty strong.」

「A SNIPER, HUH!?」

「…… We are used to conducting battles like that on a daily basis, even under heavy time constraints. We are going to knock you down for sure.」

About five minutes ago.

「Alright, my dear co-owners, listen up! I would like to ask for the approval to use the guild-shared item here! But make it quick, since time is of the essence here!」

「What’s with that arrogant tone of yours? Hit your head or something…… Approved.」

「Or maybe it is some sort of abnormal condition that cannot possibly be cured no matter what? …… But anyways, approved.」

On top of the deck of the Conquest Ship Brynhildr Baskerville, the three people simultaniously start to operate their inventory windows, registering some things as guild—shared items. Then the items start to appear on the ship’s deck: parts of the armor of the Vermillion Bird and its corresponding weapons and other items.

Just then, Rust starts to operate her own equipment and starts to take said items into her own inventory, organizing them neatly.

「Ooohhh…… This is like an All-You-Can-Eat Buffet……」

「You promise you are going to handle it with care?」

「When you say it, Sanraku, those words are pretty much meaningless! You are always abusing your own equipment to the point where it is always a burning pile of scrap, right!?」

「Yeah, this is pretty much the equivalent of spitting out helium instead of carbon dioxide, you know?」

「This is this, and that is that (falsetto!)」

“You did it before this story, right? (Falestto)”

「Fu, fufufu……」

Mold, you little shit……」

「No, it’s okay. It’s alright. …… But isn’t there a possibility to communicate wirelessly here?」

「Huh? Wireless?」

Yes, that’s right. Rust’s undefeated legend was not coined by Rust alone. On her own, he would never hope to stay undefeated for as long as she did. She could remain an undefeated fighter only because there was a partner right beside her, someone truly unrivaled in the role of a Support that he could keep up with her.

「Ahh, I wonder now…… Even if we do have means of communication, like a radio or something like that, the other machine would not be able to use it properly, because we only have one reactor on our hands……」

That was Katsu’s own way of addressing the concerns that Mold might have had, as well as saying that it may be quite difficult to alleviate them.

「Ah, I see. That is in fact, another form of Intelligence communication. Without a doubt.」

And just like that, a mass of self-proclaimed Intelligence have arrived on the scene. Perhaps the reason she was able to rendezvous with Sanraku and his companions was because the current battlefront was being maintained by the other players. If that was the case, Sigma surely would have the time to make a report in person. And the moment she started to put away her battle armor, her not-so-human facial features were being reveled for everyone else to see.

「At the current moment, the “Raging Waterfall” is in operation due to the energy supply provided by this unit’s own power core. Therefore, it is possible for this unit to keep on using its combat functions as per usual, but the communication with the user of the “Crimson Feather” is going to be extremely difficult, but not impossible.」

For a moment out there, everyone present is silent. The silence was so great and so awkward that it actually hurt.

「Fuhn, is that so?」

「GUBEH!?」

While Sanraku was doing his best to escape from here on all fours unnoticed, Pencilgton mercilessly trampled on his back, preventing him from getting away.

「Hoo? So, you happen to know such a cute girl, huh? Of course, you are going to introduce us all to her, right? RIGHT……?」

「Hey, stop it! Shit, you stupid asshole! I said stop it! Let go of me!」
