ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 481 Part 2
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 481: Torima Drink Bar Part 2
The Brave Fish appeared once more via the holographic image, chair and table included. She then urges us all to do the same and grab some seats. Just like that, there is currently a mixed party of a human, a merman, a spirit, a Conquest Doll and the AI gathered around a round table.
「Oh, I should also mention that right there you can get all of your favorite foods and drinks! And there is no limit to the amount you can get! Isn’t that convenient!?」
「So, this place is actually like a drink bar, huh……?」
Well, wouldn’t you know it, there is actually a welfare system implemented here? And it’s actually pretty big, huh? Personally, I’m really interested in it, so I rushed towards it almost right away in order to check it out.
「Huh? What’s that supposed to be? Rapidly refined ten thousand percent tropical fruit juice?」
I push the button right away.
「Here in this place, we have various seeds of fruits, both normal and exotic, preserved and ready to be cultivated. Then, the moment you press that button in under ten seconds the seed are going to be grown at the accelerated pace, then atomized, compressed and finally liquefied.」
「Ugh! That’s heavy! And complicated! Way too complicated and complex for such a simple function!」
Huh? What the –––!? What is this!? What’s going on? The fruit is being grown right before my eyes, and then liquefied with the skin and seeds included? And the result of this operation is then compressed further and then placed inside of the glass cup? So I guess it is not just some randomly squeezed juice that is then further diluted with water, huh? Interesting, I won’t tell.
「*ZU*, *ZUZUZU*, *ZUGOGOGOBOBOBO*……」
Because I am still wearing the salmon head for the moment, I am unable to put my mouth to the cup, so I have to drink through a natural straw. And the experience of drinking this juice is quite bizarre, since it is actually really heavy and thick…… Even judging by the game’s standards, it’s quite unique of an experience. Also, the aftertaste is really “juicy” and strong. They did not use any water in order to dilute it, right?
「Whoa! That’s amazing! What is this!? I pressed that button and a fresh fish appeared out of nowhere!」
「And they even have energy-fueled drinks that suit the needs of the Conquer Dolls as well. I see, I see…… This is truly an intellectual’s drink, a perfect fit for someone as intelligent as myself!」
Ahaha! Hehehe! Ufufu……!!
「No! What the hell? Is that a family restaurant, or what!?」
When my sanity finally returned to me, I discovered that I was right in the middle of making a concoction containing all possible drinks that the drink bar has to offer. But I mean…… Can you really blame me? A facility like that is just way too interesting and entertaining, let me tell you that!
「Alright, people! Main subject! Let’s just go back to the main subject at hand! On the double!」
「Sanraku! This salty thing called “soy sauce” is simply the best! It’s so tasty! It’s revolutionary!」
「–––––– Ah, I see, I see. Do you like fish? Then try to eat it with a copious amount of that green paste, next. The spiciness will only make the meat taste even better, I assure you! Now, knock yourself out! …… Quite literally.」
「Oh, is that right!? I see! Well then, I shall do just that! I am always looking forward to trying out new tastesAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!?!?!?!?」
At first I just gazed upon Alva who fell down his chair while pinching his nose. Looking closely, there were tears dripping from his eyes and his gaze was glazed and empty, just like…… Well, just like that of a dead fish. Once I was satisfied with this sight it was well the time to kick this strategy meeting off for good!
「Alright, going back to the subject at hand: there are three major things that we managed to confirm regarding the gravity rain gimmick on this very first layer.」
「That’s about right.」
Hm? What was that? Was that supposed to be an accent? Or a dialect, maybe? Was that a mod or some other thing like that? I don’t remember Saina having a function like that.
Let’s start with the tricky part of this whole gimmick: the fact that objects that are technically being located on the ceiling will start to fall down, and that there is nothing we can do about that…… Well, except for dodging them, that is. Otherwise you are going to be in for a world of hurt.
「Next, as it turns out, you can actually get away from that annoying gravity gimmick by damaging the floor. Say, Brave Fish? Can we actually assume that the system recognizes the damaged parts of the floor as something like a command for “reversing the vector flow”?」
「Well, you are partially correct in your assumption, but you are also partially wrong about it. Gravity Control Units are also built in things other than the floor. Also, in case of the floor coming apart for whatever reason, additional “repulsive” action will be taken to eject anything that happened to fall down back away to the floor level.」
Oh, so the gravity control units are not floor-exclusives? Does that mean that they are also installed in the ceiling and the walls? Or maybe even other objects?
「Also, it’s just a side note, but the gravity control units installed on the first layer of the ship constitutes of two meters by two meters square tiles.」
So in other words it was pretty much a block structure, huh? Also judging solely by the eye, the width of the passage here should be about four meters or so. So you can think of the Gravity Control System as being two blocks wide when it comes to the passages themselves.
「Okay, next question: if you happen to step on the gravity control panel with a certain momentum, you are going to be blown away in that direction. Is physical contact with such tile an absolute requirement here?」
「The repulsive action is going to be proportional to the force of impact that was put onto the tile itself. For you see, originally it was a system designed for clearing away various forms of space debris. Also, it was supposed to serve as a reinforced armor plating for the ship in case of various emergencies. So no, direct contact is not strictly necessary. You only need to apply the vector in a certain distance from the tile for the gravity control unit to kick into action.」
As someone from the current times I can understand what the Brave Fish here is saying quite clearly, without the need for her to actually go out of her way to repeat herself or rephrase so that her words could be better understood. However, there were some things I wanted to point out here, but it would be best if I stayed quiet for now. After all, looking at every single detail from a meta perspective is not good either.
「M-My nose…… It burns……」
「Yeah, next time you decide to enjoy some wasabi, be sure to do so in moderation, you hear me, you absolute moron? I’m not going to repeat myself.」
「Yes, I’m listening, I’m listening…… I don’t really get it all that much, but at the very least I’m listening.」
Being honest to a fault is not a good thing, either, you know?
「So in other words, the harder you hit that thing, the stronger the force that will hit you back.」
「Ah, now I see how it is……」
So at the very least we now know that if we were to hit the floor with a propeller-boosted hammer it would create so much power that it would be enough to send at least a couple of people flying in the air for hundreds of meters.
「And third question: the gravity control panels work on both allies and enemies, is that right? We know that you can trigger them manually, but can you trigger them by accident? Or rather, can you trigger them in a bad way?」
Specifically…… Yes, that’s right. There is one more thing that I would like to make sure of, since I was worried about it for a while now.
「Say, Isana-san…… If you can have enough of power output to create all those vending machines and drink fountains, couldn’t you muster enough power to control those gravity panels a little bit more, huh?」
「–––––– Magnificent! Next Generation Human Beings, you sure know how a machine thinks and operates! After all, you need to have priorities in life, isn’t that right?」
「With an attitude like that, you could even make fucking Panzerfausts materialize from thin air, you moron……!!!」
For a moment out there I doubted my eyes. But then I rubbed them and it was still there. Because right next to the drink bar, there was a vending machine that sold handguns and rifles.
