ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 486: Tomorrow Things Are (Probably) Going to Be Just Fine Part 2
It was at that exact moment that a strange shaped golem landed right in front of us from somewhere within the labyrinth, forcing Saina and I to move away in a hurry so that we could avoid getting ourselves crushed to death.
As it turned out, it was a strangely shaped golem that resembled a combination of a motorbike and a worker ant of all things…… And needless to say, because of its nature, it also had a seat and steering handlebars installed, so it was most probably possible to mount and ride this thing. So this is most likely what was meant by this thing being necessary for getting anywhere on this layer and doing so in a fast and efficient way.
「And you are correct in stating that once again! Originally “Ants” was the type of golem that was supposed to be used for activities meant for the void of space, but upon coming to this planet its function shifted from a mobile vehicle into that of a repair unit and area caretaker. Nowadays they are mostly used for the purpose of repairing and maintaining the gravity panels and gravity tethers around the facility…… However, those are mostly operations that can be performed while unmanned. Would you like to give riding it a go, by any chance……?」
「I’m sorry, but it is that kind of question the answer to which is so obvious that it does not need to be said out loud……!」
I pretty much figured out what this thing is being used for thanks to the experience from all the previous games that I have played in the past. But other than that, anyone could figure that out just at a glance, seeing the characteristics of a motorbike. It would not be even all that hard. Plus, upon realizing that it was something that could be controlled, there is no way that anyone would not want to try and ride it at least once!
「Hmm, I wonder if it can be done like that? Let’s see……」
I take my handgun out of its holster, take aim at a particular spot and then…… take a shot at random.
「Oh? Was that actually a miss? Bummer.」
「Proposition: Let’s try to destroy some particular elements of it with the use of stronger firepower.」

Deciding to do just that, both Sigma and I assume battle positions, and then I call out onto a particular item from within the Inventoria: a huge sniper rifle that needed to be operated with both of your hands called “Puero”.
In that instance, the sight in front of my eyes changes into that you would normally see through the scope of the sniper’s rifle. It is once more the working of the technology that projects images directly onto the user’s retinas, allowing for more precise and faster taking of the target. It is also a technology that makes taking manual aim with a naked eye seem like a bad joke.
All it takes now is to simply pull the trigger and……
BANG!
「Alright! Nice shot!」
…… Hey, what is with that look in your eyes!? Hey now! The next shot is going to be even better! And even if by some mysterious miracle the first shot indeed missed, the rest of them are going to be spot on! So the total accuracy rate is still going to be around seventy five percent or so! So my aim is not garbage! Not at all! And don’t you even dare to call it that! Or else I’m going to get really mad!
I-I, I mean…… Maybe I should gain some Score and try to buy the sniper rifle from the shop here and see for myself how it performs in comparison to what I own? But do I really want to try a battle style like that? I get a feeling that if I won’t go and attack opponents like that head on, I am going to start losing my precious Vorpal Soul. And I need Vorpal Soul, and I need as much of it as I can get. So as much as I would like to try different battle styles, I guess that I will have to refrain from them.
「Now, the method of actually operating this thing…… Is it going to be just like a regular bike? Or wait, this thing was originally meant to be used in three dimensions, so it should also be able to move vertically, am I right?」
「Dooooooooowwwwwwaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh…………!?!?!?!?」
I know that it would have been better to just call out for the Brave Fish and have her explain the whole process to us, but I really did not want to look at her or hear here if I could help it. So we did the only thing we could and borrowed that golem without asking for permission first. It took us roughly two minutes of trial and error, but eventually both Sigma and I managed to find the best way to operate the “Ants” in the thing that I would like to call a relative “Safe Driving Mode”.
I wish that Alva could be here to try it out together with us. But on the other hand, it would most probably end up in a wild ride of Air Rodeo, which could very well end up really bad, so maybe it’s actually better that he is not here for the current moment.
Alright! Now let’s put the proverbial pedal to the metal and see what this thing does! Here goes nothing!!!

「I see! This is starting to feel more and more fun by the minute!」
「T—This guy! What is he doing……!?」
「Recommendation: We should try more tricks and maneuvers to see what this device is truly worth.」
Well, hearing such a proposition, I am in no condition to say no to that. I mean, with things being so much fun, it would be a waste not to crank up the fun factor even higher!
And just like that, after getting our fair share of “fun”, we park the “Ants” back on the ground and we get off of it.
As I expected, being able to operate in the air with a three-dimensional maneuvering bike was way more fun than I would have initially expected.
Not only tilting the bike handle left and right would cause it to make sharp turns, but the aperture on this thing seems to be responsible for rising up and going down more smoothly. Also, the speed which this thing can attain is pretty amazing as well. I honestly felt like I was going to pass out a few times. I would really like to take this bike outside to do some testing with it, but…… I guess it would have been way too op for its own good. Which is a shame, really.

「Whoops! I guess that no fun can last forever, huh? Oh well, I’ve had more than a fair share of it for today…… Araba! Saina! Let’s land near some of the gravity panels! There are some more things that I would like to try!」
The first shell is like the back side of the Leviathan. That is, if I were to put a rough estimate here, it is likely that the terrestrial and ground ones can be a whole lot different than what we have here.
So I really hope that nothing funny or dangerous is going to happen while we are still in mid-air. It would be really bad if we were thrown off balance here, or suddenly being pulled towards the walls or the ceiling.
However, there are way more advantages to being able to soar through the sky than just crawling on the ground.
「I think that I have managed to locate the boss area……!!」
It is something that you would be unable to normally see, so I wonder if it is really going to be what I think it is. I mean, it was not something that you could easily spot from the ground……
「Would you like me to guide you towards the final rest area just before the boss area?」
「Sounds good. I’m not going to save my game now, but we might as well do a little pit stop before the grand battle……!」
Alright, let’s just put this thing down first and…… “EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!” Saina, you little……!!
「Ah…… Umm, there is going to be a Gravity Rain in this area soon, so please mind your surroundings and watch your heads……?」
Oh well, I guess it cannot be helped, huh!? So before having to face the boss of this area, we must make sure that we can crash land safely!!!
