ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 519: An Orchestra Just For You PART 1 Part 1
I know that this sudden blackout of mine was nothing more but a systematically introduced thing and that there was nothing actually wrong with my body, but when a thing like that happens completely out of the blue, you just can’t help it but to get worried. It was all probably so that my avatar could be teleported to some new area or maybe even the boss battle arena itself already, but…… Yeah, it’s business as usual with me I guess: rushing into the next boss monster without even getting sufficient time to prepare or restock. Why am I not even surprised by the development like that at this point in time?
「Not to mention that they apparently want me to solo this boss? I could understand if I could take NPCs together with me, but a true solo like that is a little bit too much, don’t you think……?」
…… However, for the time being it seems that the Orchestra (details currently unknown) is not going to go on the offensive right away. It’s been a few moments since I have woken up, and nothing jumped on me or tried to attack me and take me by surprise. Instead, I woke up inside of a really quiet and dim place. You could even say that the silence and the darkness were slightly disturbing here.
「Could it be that we have a “Symbol Encounter” on our hands here? Just give me a break already……」
Sure, the place in here was pretty dark and dim, but not nearly as much as to make it impossible to see your surroundings and the details to them. Besides, if I’m not being forced into battle mode right off the bat, then there should be no harm in assessing my surroundings a little bit before doing anything else, right?
As far as I am able to tell from my investigation so far, the place where I was teleported to so suddenly was most likely a “theatre-like” area. The floor and the pillars rising from it are all fancy-looking with an emphasis on decoration and ornamentation, however, they were not the main focus here. They were far from being called the Protagonist. That role would fall onto the thing that was a little further to the back, was slightly elevated and was bigger than anything else in this place combined: the stage.
And needless to say, whatever it is that is about to go down in here, it is most certainly going to go down on that very stage.
However, even though this is supposed to be a theatre, since we are expected to do battle in here, it was not your usual theatre, but more like a Colosseum type of theatre…… The square-shaped stage right in the middle looks really majestic and its sides are also richly ornamented, giving off the impression that it would be suited to accommodate a human versus human type of battle, as well as human versus monster. But whatever it’s going to be, it makes me no difference here.
Truth to be told, the longer I stay in here the less I know what is going on or what is about to happen…… Even when we consider Goldunine, a boss that had no prior story quest or a backstory to her or anything else like that, I was able to get to know something about her. But when it comes to this monster right here, this whole Orchestra thing, I truly know nothing about it. Nothing at all. But I expect that this nothing state is not going to last forever.
「Could it be that there is some sort of a trigger that starts the proper fight? Maybe getting onto the stage? Or backstage? Or there is a switch of some sort located somewhere amongst the audience seats?」
Now, when it comes to the buildings like Colosseums, what is the most suspicious thing or place as far as that entire structure is concerned……? Hmm? What’s this? Do my eyes deceive me, or is there something buried inside of this wall right here?
「And what is that thing supposed to be?」
For a moment out there I just thought it might actually be a simple pattern ornamented on the wall, but if you were actually to take a closer look at it, even in those dimmed lights you could clearly see that it was not the case. It looked like some sort of a strange shape floating from the ornaments. It seemed to be a small lump of metal, but rather than being a piece of the greater whole it seemed to be a complete device in its own right…… Yes, that’s right. It looked as though there was some sort of a small device being physically sunk into the wall’s structure.
Or rather I should say, I remember hearing about something like that before, but when and where? Was it perhaps one of the stories that my father once told me? I think that this might actually be it.
Nowadays, most of the work and everyday life related things can be done with the help and use of the mobile terminals. But it seems that when it comes to music related topics, things are not all that easy to handle. For you see, music still required its own devices in order to be functioning right. In other words, what that thing embedded on the wall is, it’s probably…… Yes, that’s right. There is no other possible explanation here. But why……?
「Why is there a music box incorporated in the structure of the wall……?」
It’s not that it was disproportionate here or anything like that, but…… Look, everyone would be weirded out if they found out that there is a curry-flavored snack stuck inside of their plate of curry, am I right? Or it’s like…… wouldn’t it feel weird for someone to want to swim in an artificial pool if the ocean was just a stone’s throw away……? Or even better: wouldn’t it be weird to swim in the sea while eating a plate of curry at the same time? Because I think it would be. Totally.
Even though this place here is supposed to be a battlefield soon, I think that there is really no need to place a music box on the wall, especially if the whole theatre is as grandiose and marvelous as this one. That, and the fact that the enemy I am supposed to fight is called “Orchestra of the Gloomy Sound”, so I would expect it to be some sort of music related enemy. Maybe even a whole orchestra put together in the shape of a monster?
That being said, this music box-like device was the only thing that seemed to be completely out of place here, so I couldn’t help myself but to perceive it from a gamer-like perspective.
「So, is this really connected to the Earth after all? At least that’s what you would think after looking at this icon over there……」
