ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 548: The Courage Needed To Take a Step Forward Part 2

「Ah……! Hizutome-kun……!」

It was also at that time that she happened to see something else entirely.

There they were, both Hizutome Rakuro and the Vice President of the Student Council of their school. Recently, that very same Vice President of the Student Council has been talking to Rei quite a lot, and right now she happened to approach Rakuro completely all of a sudden……

「Hey there! You must be Hizutome Rakuro, correct?」

「I’m sorry, but if I don’t hurry it up, I’m going to be late! So I don’t really have time to talk right now! If you have some sort of business with me, then talk with me later!」

「Huh? Hey, wait a moment! HEY!!!」

No one knew what that thing right now was all about.

If you won’t hurry it up, the teachers are going to complain if you happen to get late inside of the classroom. Especially the homeroom teachers. They would most probably say things like: “Oh, look who decided to finally show up!” or “You have some guts to dare to show up late to class!” or “If you are going to start coming in late right now, you will always come in late later in your life!”. So I am most terribly sorry, please forgive me!

Was that the so-called “Missed Flag” or “Missed Opportunity” that Iwamaki-san would mention so often just now?

With that thought in her mind, Rei just kind of stood there stunned for a moment, and then she quickly turned around and decided to head towards the back gate instead. The last thing she wanted right now to happen was that the Vice President of the Student Council, Isurugi Shou, would notice that she was there.

「I know that you can be overly kind all the time, but…… I also know that you can be persistent when the situation demands it from you……」

When it comes to Saiga Rei, there was a clear and strong sense of a maiden in love, but more importantly than that, she has the blood of the Saiga family coursing through her veins. So in other words, she has a certain reputation that she needs to keep maintained.

And although there is no school rule that says that the Student Council President is the position granted to the student with the best grades out of the entire student body, Isurugi Shou had grades and achievements that would certainly guarantee her the position of the Student Council President in the near future. Rei sometimes talked to her on occasion or two. She seemed to genuinely be a good person. But aside from that, she was one heck of a great unknown as far as Rei was concerned. She even tried to encourage her to go into the medical sciences department for University, or to even take a shot at studying abroad…… So if Rei was to be perfectly honest here, she also seemed like a somewhat wicked person.

There is no denying the fact that she is someone who possesses a great amount of both ability and skill, and although she does not have the power to directly influence the students, it is also a fact that the position of being a member of the Student Council is a privileged one. Witnessing Rakuro running away into the school building, she reconfirms that the target person is a strong enemy.

Normally people would come to a stop. Normally, people would listen to what she had to say. So Rei was convinced that she might come through as someone trying to abuse her power or having some ulterior motive if she wanted to give him that ticket right about now……

「Death………!!」

The time remaining until the JGE begins…… Two days. And unfortunately for Rei, her courage Rei’s courage gauge was not yet big enough for her to make a move.

Now then, the school is finally out, but whatever should I do now……? Anyways, let’s stop by Iwamaki-san’s joint and look for a new game to play. At least for now I did not feel like returning to ShanFro just yet. It’s a different situation from cooling my head, but right about now I really want to have some change of pace and mood.

「I know that it might look like I am trying to run away from my problems, but I’m not. I’m just putting them away for later, yes…… Well, not really, but that’s not important right now!」

I just want to forget about it all for now! Or at least pretend that I do not remember and have some much needed peace of mind! But then again, there will come a time when I will have to face those problems, and then whatever shall I do……?

「Ah, umm, Hizutome-kun!」

「Hmm? Oh, it’s you, Saiga-san.」

「Were you heading home just now…… by any chance?」

「Hmm, I wonder? Well, actually, I was thinking about stopping by Rock Roll on my way back……」

「Rock Roll…… Can I come with you? Or would you rather like to go alone?」

「Hmm? I mean yeah, sure, you can come with me. It’s not like I mind or anything like that.」

And just like that, by some strange turn of fate both Saiga-san and I headed towards Rock Roll together. However, was something wrong with Saiga-san? I don’t know why, but for some reason her face looked really scary right now, to the point where I was thinking “Yikes” to myself. Was she perhaps dealing with some sort of a huge problem at the current moment.
