ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 576 Part 2
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 576: Just Leave It To Us! When We Are On The Job, We Do It Perfectly Every Time! Part 2
Next, let’s talk about the NPCs that create the crew, a lifeblood of every spaceship currently operating in this game. Normally you would have to watch your every word and be very careful about actions that you are taking, because even deducing the quantity of meals could result with the human crew growing dissatisfied with you, which in turn would result in a mutiny and a quick “Game Over” screen. But now apparently you could exchange your organic crew members for fully automated android crew members…… In other words, the addition of the robotic crew members. Androids do not grow dissatisfied with you and they do not cause mutiny and sudden game overs, but they are more expensive to keep around, eating away way more money and resources than a regular organic crew…… In other words, you no longer need to worry about the crew’s mood swings, but it all comes at a price. Personally, I am quite happy about adding that option. Because there is one more merit to this option: Even if the android dies, you can still collect its resources and equipment and redistribute it. You could not do that with normal crew members. Once they die, they are gone for good. With all of their equipment. So yeah, there’s that……
And finally, we have the third matter. This is probably the biggest reason why I wanted to go back to Galaxy Traveler. The Players were finally allowed to get up from the captain’s chair, and they could choose their actions freely, even choosing to go into combat directly if they so desired.
Specifically, a status window has been added to the Players themselves, in an identical way as the crew status bars were functioning. Apparently, now because of this improvement this game started to resemble your typical action game, and by raising the “appropriate” status of the avatar, the parameters for each action can rise significantly. Or so it would seem. For the time being, it seems that the players are yet to find a way to abuse this system in their own favor, so all the free time they can get is spent in the simulator on the ship in order to mess with statistics and find the most broken combinations out there.
「What the hell is this even, this handgun……? Ah, could it be this thing I have seen during the JGE?」
Do you use this thing like you would an ability……? I can’t stand floating in space, so I wonder if I should return to Earth and store it for the time being. Only way to store items without them being lost forever is to store them inside of the Player’s personalized room back on Earth. No matter how many times you die. These souvenirs should be preserved, but the question is, can we safely return to Earth?
「The NPCs are ……… Uwah, they’re on the verge of exploding from pent-up dissatisfaction!」
Speaking of which, it seems that we have been adrift in space for quite some time now…… Anyway, even if there was a map here, it would have done me little to no good. This means that we would get lost for sure before we could even make use of it. Ahh, that’s right. We got stranded in space, I got annoyed by the fact that I was about to lose all of my progress, so I decided to put everyone in Cryo Stasis and quit the game altogether…… Now I remember.
「…… And just whatever the fuck am I going to do with this shit?」
You can’t move the ship without the crew, but if you move them, then they will surely get pissed and it will be all over. A quick solution is to trade the crew with another player who passes you by, but…… this also does not guarantee that the crew will be in good condition. …… Huh? What’s this? A commercial communication from an unidentified ship to the Rakuromaru the Third (this is the name of the spaceship I was currently on)?
「Yes, hello, hello?」
「LANGUAGE AUTHENTICATION IN PROGRESS…… HELLO GALAXY TRAVELER, I AM THE FULLY AUTOMATED, UNMANNED TRADING SYSTEM “SL:EVE” BELONGING TO THE DROID CREW TRADING AGENCY. SINCE YOU SEEM TO BE HAVING SOME SORT OF A CREW DISCORD HAPPENING ON BOARD OF YOUR SHIP AT THE CURRENT MOMENT, WE WOULD LIKE TO PROPOSE TO YOU A SOLUTION TO YOUR PREDICAMENT: EXCHANGING YOU ENTIRE HUMAN CREW TO THE CREW OF ANDROIDS! OF COURSE, EVERYTHING WILL BE CARRIED OUT WITH UTMOST SECRECY AND WITH FULL CONFIDENTIALITY.」
…… Yeah, exchanging the lousy and rebellious human crew for a crew of obedient androids. This is exactly what I need at the current moment.
About five minutes later.
「THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR PURCHASE OF THOSE FORTY FIVE HIGH-END ANDROIDS, YOU PRIMITIVE EARTH LIFE FORM! AND SINCE YOU AS A CLIENT HAVE MADE MORE THAN A CERTAIN SPECIFIED NUMBER OF TRANSACTIONS, WE SHALL GRANT YOU THIS HERE BONUS AS WELL: ON-BOARD ANDROID BATTLE PACK! AND WE SHALL INSTALL IT ONTO EVERY SINGLE ANDROID THAT YOU HAVE PURCHASED! PLEASE CONSIDER IT A SPECIAL SERVICE! WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING BUSINESS WITH YOU IN THE FUTURE!」
「Oh, no! No, no, no! I should be the one who should be thanking you! After all, it was such a good purchase here that you could practically call it a steal!」
Farewell, the crew of dissatisfied assholes that just got woken up from the prolonged state of Cryo Sleep! You were just a lousy bunch of good for nothing that created way more troubles and damages than you were actually worth, but even so, I just can’t bring myself to hate you! Anyone else would have disposed of you into the cold void of space or sold you into slavery, but I won’t do that! Just get the fuck out of my ship and I don’t want to see you ever again! I hope that your future is going to be a bright one!
「Alright then! Listen up, my Excellent Android friends! I know that I may have my flaws here and there, but I hope that we can get along! Here’s to a fruitful cooperation!」
「Just Leave It To Us! When We Are On The Job, We Do It Perfectly Every Time!」
「Just Leave It To Us! When We Are On The Job, We Do It Perfectly Every Time!」
「Just Leave It To Us! When We Are On The Job, We Do It Perfectly Every Time!」
「Just Leave It To Us! When We Are On The Job, We Do It Perfectly Every Time!」
Uwah, what the hell? What is this premonition of a terrifying dystopian society that I am getting right about now?
