ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 620: Wisdom’s Hall of Fame Part 1
The first layer of Leviathan is “Gate”, which is a labyrinth.
The second layer of Leviathan is “Ranch”, which is a grassland combined with a meat processing plant.
The third layer of Leviathan is “Entertainment”, which is a huge casino and gambling hall.
The fourth layer of Leviathan is “Arsenal”, which is a huge weapons production site as well as a shop in which you can buy them.
Realistically speaking, all of the above facilities would be unable to exist in such an enclosed space in real world, but they each have their own “characteristics” and are unique from one another in some aspects. But there were also some common elements, such as ground, walls, roads and so on and so forth.
However, when it comes to this fifth layer called “Wisdom”…… Yes, it would be more appropriate to say that this was a “space” rather than place. The structure itself that stands inside the ellipse is the same as other layers. But the thing that is unique to this layer is the fact that it lacks the access to the next layer, instead possessing the huge orb of shining light right in the middle of the space.
Not to mention that the fifth layer is the smallest of all the other layers out there. And that is most certainly true, because you can see the entirety of this place with your naked eye no problem, well, except for that sphere of light. Maybe it’s because that most of the terrain here is flat, but…… Is it like a school’s gymnasium? It is certainly smaller than a soccer court.
In a sense, this here is supposed to be the smallest of all the layers in the entire Leviathan, but it’s is still more of that of a small city rather than your local labyrinth. But that being said, when we take into account the small maze, grassland, casino and the arsenal, this place looked the most unrealistic out of all of them. And that is saying something, if you were to ask me.
It seems that there is a certain curtain drawn in here between the cognition and the substance, and the atmosphere of this place seems almost lazy and fluffy…… As if you were inside of a dream? Yeah, I guess that you can say that. Honestly, I don’t know how else I would be able to summarize that place.
「Somehow, how should I put it……? It feels really narrow on the scale, you know? Hey, Survival? Please start running straight ahead and see what happens when you do.」
「Huh? I don’t wanna, it sounds like too much trouble, anyways. Besides, I think that Sanraku is way faster than me, so he should do it.」
「Hmm? You sure? Oh well, only one way to find out…… On your mark! Ready……」
SET, GO!!!
「Alright! And that’s the goal line!」
「I don’t know about you guys, but I saw them for like maybe a moment or so?」
「And it was only because the two of them slowed down right at the very end. That speed…… Was it about two seconds for them to reach that far? Maybe even less?」
I. Am. A. Speed. Holder. I. Am. Fast. As. Fuck. It’s not as critical as the thing that would let you fly through the sky in a single step worth of acceleration, but even with the current skills that I am holding onto, running such a short distance under two seconds is like a piece of cake for me…… It’s not surprising that the game is too inflated, but it’s always better than ending up as a wet stain on the wall. If you continue to run, the risk of being smashed against the ground is always there, so there was also no need for me to go as fast as it was possible for me.
However, when I was running like that with all my strength, my head became clear all of a sudden. The truth about this layer…… this is not just the goal point. The suspicious thing is the photosphere overhead, but the hexagonal pattern drawn by the light on the ground also looks suspicious as soon as you start thinking that it is suspicious. If that explanation makes even a slightest bit of sense, which I think it does.
「Umm, what are you doing here……?」
There! There it is! Rei-san just said the words!
On the other hand, the Brave Fish was just casually pointing towards the floor in complete silence…… No, the hexagon on the ground rose up and there was not a pillar erected from the ground, reaching about to the height of human waist or chest. …… Yes, suspicious! This is most definitely suspicious! I knew it! So there was really a gimmick to this floor after all!
「THE ONLY THING THAT CAN BE DONE IN THIS LAYER IS TO BROWSE THROUGH ALL SORTS OF INFORMATION. AND ONCE YOU HAVE BROWSED THROUGH FIFTY PIECES OF INFORMATION, YOU ARE GOING TO BE GIVEN THE FINAL LEVEL OF THE AMBER JACK PASS.」
「I know a bunch of guys who would literally cream their pants upon hearing a line like that. They are called “Library”.」
「I can tell you all about it later on.」
「Sanraku-kun…… Do you happen to have a video recording item on you right now?」
Yes, yes in fact I do have one. Which is a good thing, because it will be of use very shortly. But it is also a good thing that the gimmick of this area is so simple and easy to understand. To make a long story short, this is basically a Library in which you ca browse all sorts of information, and upon learning enough pieces of information you are going to be allowed to browse even more information.
So it’s a simple deal: you read through a certain amount of documents and then you can read through even more documents. Simple, easy to understand and effective, only encouraging you to read through more information, because who knows? Maybe what you will unlock later is going to be something that will give you an edge? Or turn your understanding of the game upside down?
「Although let me warn you, I am not all that interested in the overall lore of this world. Or at the very least not nearly as much as those “Library” guys.」
「I think it’s just the case of not caring all that much about it because you have not indulged yourself in it all that much. Say, Survival? Aren’t you any least bit interested in the causes that brought the Era of the Gods to an end?」
「YES, THAT’S THE SPRIT! AS FOR ME, I’LL JUST HANG AROUND THE PLACE AND WILL OBSERVE YOU ALL FOR THE TIME BEING.」
「Who knows? Maybe there are going to be information about the Raid Monsters in here? Or maybe even Unique Monsters?」
「Ahh…… I see, I get it. This certainly sounds like something that might actually motivate me.」
「Hmm? What? Why are you all looking at me like that?」
