ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 626: The Melancholy of the God of Creativity Part 1
When it comes to the long and arduous daily routine of the “ShangriLa Frontier’s” World Administrator, it basically starts around noon.
It may sound strange when you put it that way on paper, but her lifestyle is similar to that of a vampire, but turned upside down. Vampires tend to wake up at night and be active from there till morning, but in her case it was that she was waking up at noon and was starting to be active from there. Or strictly speaking, her workflow was starting from around noon or so.
However, it seems that there was something fundamentally different about her today. And it was not only connected to the fact that her bed-hair seemed to be especially messy today, even more than usual.
At the current moment, the time was 8:12 a.m. It was already pretty late for most people, but it could still be classified as an “early morning”. …… And even though it was early morning, Tsukuyo was still up. Or she was already up.
「…………」
At the current moment her expression was really complex and complicated-looking, as if all of her emotions were throw into a pot and were brought to a boiling point. And it was also obvious that the cause for her current expression was the thing she was currently looking at.
「Even if I don’t like it, let’s just leave it at that for now…… The behavioral patterns are not all perfect, but they are also not that bad……」
Upping the difficulty levels inside of the Leviathan, and bringing back the “Canon” of the Orchestra back to life.
Those were the actions she took in order to hinder the progress of a specific player, the one who was starting to become a serious threat to her vision of the ideal world. But even so, it was frustrating to watch how that player managed to overcome even those challenges and as a result managed to conquer the entire Leviathan in such a short amount of time.
The very reason why that player kept on losing to the Orchestra was because Tsukuyo went out of her way to revive its “Canon” version. At first glance it might look just like a simple upping of the difficulty level, but in reality it was about implementing many small and seemingly insignificant changes that many players would never be able to spot if they did not know what they were looking for. But it was really bad that as a result of his streak of losses, that player decided that the best course of action would be to go and conquer the Leviathan instead. For Tsukuyo, it was even worse course of action.
However, as far as she was concerned and after some investigation, it seems that there were some events and happenings between the two things that served as a catalyst here…… Not to mention that apparently that player and his group were making quite a name for themselves in the game world as far as role-playing was concerned…… And all the proof that she needed for that was that they all managed to score really high with the “Brave Fish’s” affection gauge.
There is a concern how someone managed to accomplish such a feat.
There is a feeling of astonishment that someone managed to conquer the entire ship so soon and so fast.
There is a sense of dread that the perimeter that she worked so hard to set up has been breached so easily.
There is a feeling of delight that someone was enjoying the world she managed to create so much.
There is a feeling that this world is so wonderful, but at the same time it was filling her with a sense of dissatisfaction.
Even someone like her, who was a technological genius who caused so much innovations to be implemented into the world of technology, she was unable to fully grasp and explain all of her emotions in a zero and one sense. In other words, the external personality of Tsukuyo was a mixture in which monopoly was belonging to rationality and intelligence, but there was also a fair share of desires there as well, specifically those of approval.
「So, does that mean that the simple difficulty adjustment was not enough? No, when it comes to that, both the Leviathan and Orchestra are entities that rely solely on the notion of understanding. So it means that unlike other opponents, you are bound to eventually overcome them if you try hard enough times…….」
…………
Ignorant people may only be able to think in stupid and ignorant ways. Think about taking Unique Monsters for Raid Monsters and vice versa. But such an example is a misunderstanding that is so great that you would not be able to act in any other way but to laugh at it.
When it comes to monsters inhabiting this world, the key word describing the Raid Monsters would be “Adversary”. Or at the very least that’s the way in which Tsukuyo was looking at that matter. …… And when it comes to Unique Monster, the key word in their case would be “Relatives”.
For most people, when they see a powerful-looking monster the only notion that comes to their minds is to slay them on the spot, no one ever thinks about trying to understand them. Seeing such a blatant display of stupidity from the people, Tsukuyo could not help herself but to start feeling increasingly angry. .
That’s right, that’s where the real problem lies. As long as it is perceived by the general audience as a mere piece of entertainment, this magnificent world of ShangriLa Frontier is basically wasted. Or to be more exact, its potential is getting wasted.
「The hell is collaboration with other works, what the hell seasonal events are even supposed to mean!? You think that Santa Claus would really bother travelling all those light years away from Earth just to get to your sorry ass!? Besides, it’s amazing that he can get his business on Earth done in one night with such a great efficiency.」
…………..!
「…… But then again, it’s not as if the tradition of Santa Claus would not be there somewhere in the vast databanks of the Era of the Gods, right? Or at least, the probability is not zero. I’m not saying that I want to do it, or that I feel that there is a need for something like that, but at the same time…… I might actually consider it, just for the hell of it.」
If her colleagues were trying to blindly aim to replicate the current trends in gaming without actually caring for their initial vision in the slightest, that would be a straw that would have broken the camel’s back and Tsukuyo would have cut them off from her project without a moment of hesitation.
However, she also did not know anyone else who would be as passionate and crazy about games as Amachi Ritsu…… in a sense, without her being on board with this project from its earliest stages, ShangriLa Frontier would never even had the chance to witness the light of the day.
That’s why it was not possible to just completely cut her colleagues off from this…… And so she just continued to look at the console right in front of her with the feelings of anger and happiness fighting inside of her. To change anything in here would mean to interfere directly with the world they all loved so much and gave their all in order to create it. But she also could not allow for things to just continue to go on the way they were.
