ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 648: ”Ivory” Likes Breeding Part 1
[What the hell is that, that weapon!?]
[This is a boss weapon that can be obtained once the Player managed to acquire the Fifth Level of Amber Jack Pass inside of the Leviathan, as well as defeated the boss monster of the fourth layer there.]
[Huh? What the hell? I don’t really get it, but it certainly sounds strong, huh……?]
[Yeah, it most certainly is strong, but it also comes with a heavy drawback: the ammo magazines that are needed to operate this thing are not included with this purchase. You need to buy them separately.]
[Hmm, well, that certainly sucks…… Incidentally, how much a magazine like that cost?]
[Once I have obtained this gun I could only buy like six of them or so, but even if you were to save up all of your money and would buy a hundred of magazines, going all trigger happy with this thing would still be inefficient as all hell.]
One Spear Warhead like that tends to eat away about the ten percent of the magazine’s overall capacity. So if you were to use five magazines, that would be pretty much it. So having this in mind, the fact that this weapon eats through the ammo packs like its nobody’s business means that most probably it is meant to be used as a finishing blow tool during especially prolonged battles……
Now then, as a side note, all the time and all the way onto the fourth layer I had to do back and forth like that with questions and answers regarding the weapons that I was using in the previous fight. Some of the Players got slaughtered by the dangerous Environmental Monsters back there, but some other Players willingly chose to stay there so that they could have a shot at obtaining some more of those rare materials from those strong monsters. I respect their decision and I wish them all good luck with that. Do you best and don’t get discouraged if the RNG gods won’t be in your favor. But that being said, maybe those guys will be able to incorporate the help of those who now permanently live in the second layer? Some free meat shield are always nice to have on you at all times.
[ALRIGHT THEN. THIS PARTICULAR LAYER IS GOING TO TEST YOUR VIABILITY.]
[Does that mean that after all we have displayed and went through in the previous layer, you still lack the conclusive evidence to confirm that?]
[No, I think that this is going to be “viability” in some other sense of the word, something unlike we are thinking of at the current moment……]

[Well, yes, that’s a forest for sure. Thank you for pointing that out, Akitsu Akane. Surely without that insightful remark none of us would have been able to notice that fact.]
Because of the harsh selection on the second and third layer, as well as because of all the people who chose to stay behind for reasons whatever, the current number of players who decided to push forward was down to fifteen Players…… And as a matter of fact, this number turned out to be quite nice, since fifteen is the maximum number of players that can belong to a single party at any given time. However, even though the Professor and Shoujo Bansai-san were still alive and kicking as well, their role in the party is more of a logistical support rather than anything else at the current moment. But even though their combat potential may be weaker than normal fighters, it was mostly thanks to their knowledge and insight that the other party managed to take that Maxwell chump down. I just hope that all of this being useful won’t get into those guys’ heads…… Hmm? But what’s this? It would seem that Bansai-san was preoccupied with something here?
[Hmm? What are you doing out there? Performing some field recovery, perhaps?]
[No, you see, because of the Carved Wounds that I have on me the only thing that effectively works as a healing for me is the Whole Recovery Bullets like this one. And if I try to use anything else to heal up, I run the danger of the item becoming wasted. But if it’s an Area of Effect heal instead of a targeted potion, it should work every single time.]
[Alright then. Here, catch! I will give you this.]
Hmm, I just happened to receive an HP Recovery Potion……? Thanks, buddy, but…… I’m afraid that in my current state it’s going to be useless! I appreciate the gesture, but this thing is going to be perfectly wasted on me……!!!
[THERE IS ONLY ONE CONDITION FOR CLEARING THIS FLOOR AND BEING GRANTED PASSAGE FURTHER DOWN: THERE ARE MANY WANDERING CREATURES OUT HERE THAT WILL TRY TO GET IN YOUR WAY, BUT I WANT YOU ALL TO SEARCH FOR A CERTAIN FIELD SOMEWHERE IN THIS LAYER AND BRING TO ME THE ITEM THAT GROWS THERE. AND THIS IS THE ITEM IN QUESTION.]
That being said, “ivory” displayed a holographic image of a certain item right in front of us all…… Now what exactly is this? Bamboo shoots? They certainly resemble bamboo shoots alright……
[I PERSONALLY NAMED THIS PARTICULAR ITEM: I NAMED IT “BAMBOO SHOOT.]
[Oh, look guys! If it isn’t a bamboo shoot!]
[It certainly is. Or at the very least it’s something that closely resembles it. Because no matter what, you cannot overlook the fact that it is glowing black like that.]
[Does that mean that our job is to simply look for the bamboo grove somewhere in this layer?]
[Hmm, I see. Say, “Ivory”-kun, would it be quite alright for you to pass us that image so that we can inspect it a little more closely?]
[OF COURSE. I DON’T MIND AT ALL.]
For the time being, all the Players currently present gathered around the image and formed a close circle. Needless to say, the Professor was currently the one in charge in here, obviously because things like that seemed to fit right into his area of research as something purely academic in nature.
[Alright then, Professor. Since this thing seems to be something right up your alley, we are going to leave this matter entirely up to you. Thanks in advance.]
The voices of fourteen Players echoed in unison here, and thus our strategy meeting could finally begin.
The first issue that came up was of course the matter of: “How many sabotage creatures are there specifically?”Because if there is one thing that we have all learned from going through the previous three layers of Behemoth, it was the fact that this place does not go easy when it comes to producing menacingly powerful creatures. And it also does not hold back its punches when it comes to their numbers.
Because let’s face it: if we are to encounter monsters in here that will be on par with that damned Maxwell from the third layer, or even perhaps only half its strength, it will be a complete and utter disaster. We have already had our numbers thinned out, so even more losses on our end would be disastrous. Not to mention that it would also severely cripple the extent of actions that we could do around this floor. Even Maxwell, who sold the fight from here, was a strong enemy to the extent that some dropouts came out, and if that class actively interferes, individual actions will directly lead to equal death.
