ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 657: Even If You Are a God, There Are Still Certainly the Traces of Your Origin Part 2
「Sanraku-san! Please have a look at this, Sanraku-san! I have found a flash memory device that is meant for Ninjas!」
「Seriously now? Uwah, really. You weren’t kidding.」
Ninja Arts: The Gale Thunder Volume…… Uwah, this really stinks for some reason.
「Where did you even found a thing like that, huh?」
「Basically in the Entertainment Items Section!!!」
T-This stinks! And sucks! This stinks and sucks really freaking bad!
When I looked it up, it turned out to be just a group of mobility skills that were all premised on throwing items, and it’s annoying that it meets my needs reasonably well, despite the fact that it’s all ugly and useless.
It would be a good idea to investigate this thing a little bit more, and in a greater detail. But if there are no other viable choices to be made in here, than I am afraid that I will be forced to choose the Ninja Arts option simply via the elimination option. Then for some reason, I opened the file and read it repeatedly while feeling a strange feeling of tension starting to rise inside of me.
Well, yeah. Looking at things from a greater perspective, there is no use for me to actually bother myself with a Medical skills. No, I can clearly see that now. All of the skills grouped up on this flash memory have different purposes meant for them, but they all had one thing in common: the premise that they would be used in their respective category and not in anything else. If so, the mobility I seek should be considered in terms of “where would you use it the most?”
It’s not a battle item for sure, but something that we need to keep in mind here is the way in which we could effectively fight the primordial forces that are sure to come…… Or maybe the way to avoid it in some way. If it would be possible to avoid it at all.
「…… So, it’s basically something like a dodgeball?」
No, there is no way in hell that it would be about such a thing…… Or was there?
No, wait, seriously now? Are you kidding me? A dodgeball-inspired evasive martial arts? I mean, I technically can understand where that thing is coming from, since dodgeball has the elements of avoidance, accepting the attacks in a non-damaging way, and even dampening the level of potential threats that sometimes include the need to sacrifice someone if you do not wish to be sandwiched from the front and the back by your enemies, but…… No, wait, it’s actually great! I’s like being able to learn Ninja Arts without actually having the need to become a Ninja yourself! So in a sense, this is even better than Ninja Arts!
「This is it, let’s just go with this, shall we? Now, the name of those techniques are commonly referred to as…… Maxwell Dodge Arts?」
Nice, very nice. I really like the sound of that.
From here on out the flow was rather fast-paced and pretty much straightforward. So I put the thing that we have brought with us into the flash memory slot of the equipment at the central part of the Coliseum and start to burn the images into my brain through my retinas.
「Is it going to be possible to learn all four of those things from the very beginning……? But it seems like the thing that I am going to learn in here are going to be skills, huh?」
「YES, WHILE IT WOULD CERTAINLY BE POSSIBLE TO LEARN ALL FOUR OF THEM AT ONCE FROM THE VERY BEGINNING, I CANNOT SAY THAT IT IS AN OPTION THAT I WOULD RECOMMAND.」
「Hoo? You’re not recommending it? And why is that?」
「BECAUSE THE NEXT GENERATION HUMAN BEINGS AND THEIR SKILLS SYSTEM HAS AN UPPER LIMITER IMPOSED ON THEM DEPENDING ON THEIR LEVEL. ALTHOUGH SKILL INSTALLATION VIA A FLASH MEMORY IS A QUICK AND REASONABLY FOOLPROOF PROCESS, IT IS ALSO NOT EXPANDABLE BY ANY MEANS. AND IT HAS THE DISADVANTAGE OF HINDERING THE GROWTH OF OTHER EXPERIENCE-BASED SKILLS. IS THAT EXPLANATION MORE THAN SATISFACTIONARY TO YOU?」
「Yeah, so it basically has both good points and the bad points to it, huh?」
「BUT THAT BEING SAID, FLASH MEMORY DRIVES WITH EXPANDABLE SKILLS SUCH AS THE “SUNNY WEATHER” ARCHETYPE” ARE EXTREMELY RARE TO COME BY AND UNEXPECTEDLY VALUABLE.」
「Hmm, I see, I see.」
While opening the status window and checking out the four skills I managed to learn, I watched Rei-san blowing away the Conquest Doll with ease and making it fly all over the Coliseum’s grounds as if it was nothing more but a child’s play to her.
For the time being let’s see if I actually remembered the things correctly……
・ Multiple Circumferential Motion “Orbit Movement”
・ Spiral Securing Behavior “Screw Hand Catch”
・ Secondary Defense Behavior “Collateral Damage Cut”
・ Relative 3D Motion “Solid Maneuver”
Those should be the four skills in question, right?
Now, while I think that those things might not be some sort of super Cheat-like abilities, they are surely some sort of diamonds in the rough. So I guess it would be entirely up to the player to discover the right way in which to use them and realize their hidden potential.
「Does that limit apply to skills only?」
Personally I don’t think that there is anything wrong with being forced to fight without the use of the skills. After confirming that Rei-san managed to exit the Coliseum safely after stabbing the Conquest Dolls, together with Akitsu Akane we decided to join with a few other people who also managed to descend to this level……
Also, we confirmed that neither one of us had any interest in challenging the contents of the Coliseum for the time being. With that being all said and done, we could finally press forward.
「Alright then…… Hmm? Say, “Ivory”? Can I ask you a question?」
「AS LONG AS IT WILL BE SOMETHING THAT I CAN ANSWER IN EARNEST, THEN ASK AWAY.」
「That Conquest Doll right there……」
At the first glance it looked just like a Conquest Doll, but upon further inspection it was just a female mannequin with ball-joints. Or at least that’s the feeling I was getting, but…… I could not shake off the feeling that there was something more to it than that……
「WHY YES, IT IS EXACTLY AS YOU THINK IT IS. IT IS THE PROTOTYPE UNIT OF THE CONQUEST DOLL, ONE BEFORE THE DECISION TO MASS PRODUCE THEM WAS AGREED UPON. IT WAS NOT ALL THAT STRONG, BUT IT WAS ALSO NOT AL LTHAT WEAK, SO IT WAS USED IN HERE TO CONDUCT SOME TESTS. THAT WAY IT COULD BE USEFUL FOR SOMETHING, AND NOT JUST BE THE WASTE OF RESOURCES THAT IT ULTIMATELY TURNED OUT TO BE.」
「You, seriously now…… If you are not going to fix that attitude of yours soon, people are going to start treating you like a freaking last boss, you know?」
Ahh, and now what am I supposed to do? Was I not supposed to say that? Now her expression grew even more cloudy than ever before!
