ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 660: Wild Lessons of Heretical Teacher Sanraku Part 2

Truly, if it was not for Sigma’s action and that fact that she was there in the first place, for those guys their story on the Crystal Nest Cliffs would have ended right there. Because if it was all on me, even though I knew that those people were there, I would have done nothing to help them, leaving them to die and chalking it up to their own stupidity and inability to make a proper judgement. Especially since in this situation there was quite literally nothing for us to gain there.

It’s kind of a same deal as Emul used to bring up sometimes. Vorpal Bunnies should only get involved with other Vorpal Bunnies and solve the problems that Vorpal Bunnies created for themselves. I know that our current adventures are kind of a precedence here, but that’s just an exception from the rule. So the Next Generation Human beings should do exactly the same. Each and every individual should take care of their own survival first, worrying about others comes second at best. So if worse comes to worst, I would not hesitate to tell Emul to throw me under the proverbial bus and make a run for it.

But Sigma does not know of any of such rules. If Sanraku was to be someone who could easily ignore others and focus on his own agendas without issues, then Sigma would be someone who could be easily summarized as “The Savior of Everyone in need of saving”. She must have developed a nasty attitude like that after seeing people get destroyed in a whole lot of ways and struggle while on board of the Behemoth.

* * * * * * * * *

That’s why, Sigma decided that right now the best course of action would be to help the last remaining two guys over there.

「Recommendation: Rapid Slowness of Auto-destructive Behavior.」

「Who are you!?」

「Hey, come on! You can ask that after you get up……!」

On that other side of the Crystal Nest Cliffs, the two low-level players were suddenly approached by the Conquest Doll and another player, but since their current situation was less than enviable there was no time for us to explain the situation. But since this was mostly Sigma’s idea, I was pretty much going to let her handle this situation. I was only here to tag along for the ride.

「Leave the Crystal Scorpions to us. As for you, if you do not want to end up dead because of them, you’d better run away from here while you are still able to do so……」

「Eh? Umm? Hmm? Why, thank you for help……?」

But Sigma was already not there, unable to hear it. In the first place, since she was equipped with double swords she was able to maneuver between the Crystal Scorpions with ease, with minimum actions required. Not it was just a matter of luring the rest of the scorpions away while getting closer to the relay individual. It is too inappropriate as a choice to make under any normal circumstances, but I guess that as long as she was doing just fine, there was no reason for me to complain.

「Guh…… Damage Sustained: Medium.」

But it was only then that she realized that before she decided to used two swords, it was mostly Sanraku who used to take care of the enemy aggro all of the time…… So up until now, it was mostly him who was handling the onslaught of those enemies specialized in battle actions…… And even with all of his equipment he was barely even managing to keep up the good work…… So what were the chances of Sigma actually being able to pull off with her equipment what her Contractor was barely managing to accomplish?

「Re-evaluating conditions……」

But the enemies wouldn’t allow it. A battle is a non stop race towards victory, and those who think that they can take a break during such race to do something else…… will receive a grim reminder of the reality of their situation. It was then that the huge tail swing managed to struck Sigma, sending her plummeting towards the ground.

「Damage Sustained: Large……」

And then silence. In order to not take any more damage Sigma focused her efforts on the evasive movements…… And then she noticed something.

Sigma’s usually durable HP bar was already below thirty percent of its usual amount. And Sanraku was somewhere else completely, so he would not be able to help her out. But…… Sigma was not going to escape into the confines of the INVENTORY anytime soon.

And there is no way to send words from where she was now towards Sanraku. There were some ways in which the two of them could communicate with one another, but it was something that would require both of them to divert their attention from the battle, and there was always a risk that the comm channel would get hacked easily.

「Wait……」

Erma = 317 Sigma is a Conquest Doll. An android working under the “Reconquista” Plan that Andrew Jitter Doll formulated, lending her strength to the Next Generation Human Beings in order to help them achieve their goals.

If Sigma was to fall right here right now, then what would happen next? It would only result in the fact that the three hundred seventeenth Elma Type Conquest Doll would be lost. As for the Reconquista Plan, it would still proceed as planned, unhindered by that fact. And her Contractor would simply need to forge a Contract with a new Conquest Doll. As simple as that.

The group of Crystal Scorpions was fast approaching. The inorganic eyes does not know that “Sigma” that was here was “Sigma”. All things that enter this area’s premise are considered and perceived as “enemies” by those things. The fact that it might have been a human being or a Conquest Doll was of no matter to them. Just an enemy trespassing onto their territory……

「No……」

That one word spilled oh so very naturally from the mouth of the Conquest Doll.

「No! I don’t want to………………!!!」

A fear of being crushed to death by the Crystal Scorpions and being erased from this world without leaving a single trace behind. Even though it was something utterly inconceivable. Even if it was something that should be of no concern to her. It was something more than enough to freeze the Conquest Doll in place.

Her Intelligence was screaming two possible outcomes of this scenario: staying alive and dying. And Sigma was on her way towards the latter outcome.

But then, right before the crystal wave was about to swallow Sigma completely, there was a “Alright, stop right there!” and everything came to an end.

* * *

「Hey there, Sigma. Working hard, I see? Well, I imagine that there is a whole lot on your platter at the current moment, but do you mind we wait with it until this thing is over?」

A sudden flash of light with the power of the storm behind it. It was a blast strong enough to send the Crystal Scorpions flying away. And then, the nostalgic smell of her human contractor…… For the first time since forever Sigma was glad that she was no longer alone.

It was thanks to this unprecedented situation that the probability of them winning went up towards the seventy percent margin……!
