I was really proud with what I was able to achieve over the past week or so. Even though I couldn’t fight with a lot of strong monsters, the mere amount that I did defeat really helped piled up the experience and I was able to break through the LV100 goal that I set for myself. I thought that something might happen at that moment, but it didn’t change anything. I decided to inspect all my stats now, while I was still inside the dungeon, because once I go outside I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do so.
I knew that once I get back I would piss off everyone to a point where it wouldn’t be weird if I get dragged to Kapitalia forcefully and get locked into a prison under constant supervision. Well if it comes to that I don’t mind using my points to increase my magic related stats and then trying to use transfer for a truly long distance teleportation. I don’t think they would be able to find me that easily.
Taking a deep breath I left the dungeon and immediately was blinded by how sunny it was outside. I looked around but couldn’t see anyone from the party. So far so good, I need to get to the guild and report my findings about the dungeon. I tried to stay inconspicuous, but as soon as I entered I was spotted by the Chief.
“Maeda-sama, thank heavens you are safe. You really got us worried. Thankfully your party members could tell that you were alive. What were you thinking going in alone?”
“Chief, that is not important now. I have some bad news.”
I immediately had his attention. He led me to a private room and also sent someone to do something. I assumed it was to inform Vitou and the rest that I was here.
“What happened?”
“I learned why the dungeon changed all of a sudden. There was a change in the dungeon master. I came across a party on the 21st floor that was kind enough to slip this information.”
I saw him frown upon hearing this. Well I don’t like this either because it means that I currently have absolutely no way of making this dungeon my own.
“Wait, 21st floor? You got that far? Just how deep is that dungeon?”
Before I could continue the conversation someone stormed into the room. I didn’t have to turn around that this person was Vitou. From Chief’s pale face and the amount of killing intent directed my way I could imagine just how angry he was at this moment. Without even bothering to greet him I continued my report.
“I know for certain that there are 25 floors, but possibly there is more. The concept for each floor is the same, just the number of monster changes as well as the monster type, but there is not much difference in strength of each monster. However that is not the most worrisome part of the dungeon. The real problem is the new dungeon master who took over.”
“Nao-chan, you have quite the nerve to ditch me like that. Do you have any idea how much trouble you’re in? You dared to disrespect me like that, I will show you the consequences.”
He grabbed me by the shirt and threatened me. He completely disregarded the image he shows to the public so I guess he was even angrier than I thought. Well it’s not like there were a lot of people witnessing this, and the Chief most likely won’t spread this around, but then again he seems like someone who likes to gossip. Either way, it was not my image being ruined here.
“Let go! If I didn’t ditch you at that time, you probably wouldn’t be aware that the new master of this Dungeon is the Black King and you wouldn’t have been able to plant a spy into their ranks. Or at least artificial way to gather information about them, so you should stop doing what you’re doing and calm down.”
These words were more than effective in making both of them to focus on me and what I was reporting. Because of what I said, both of them forced me to tell everything I have learned in great detail. I told them how I found the way to the lower floors and the characteristics of each of them.
I then proceeded to tell them how I decided to take a break in my inn on the 21st floor and in the meanwhile how the party entered and stayed the night. I mentioned how I pretended to be the Viscountess and finally how I gave them the gift that would also act as transmitter. Finally I told them that I didn’t dare go deeper and headed straight back to report everything and to deliver a detailed map of the floors that I was able to clear.
“This is a huge matter. I need to inform my father. I’ll deal with you later.”
I watched as he left and then turned to the Chief.
“Now, let’s talk about that land. I had a change of heart, I don’t want it anymore. If you want the King Ape corpse I’ll have you provide some sensitive information to me”
“I will not betray my country. I don’t know what you want, but I am an honest man.”
I smirked, he didn’t immediately back out. Since I do not own the dungeon I don’t need that plot of land, and knowing the Black King might come around does not make me feel happy.
“Orzak’s Guild Master, I want you to give me all the dirt you have on him. Come on spit it out.”
***CHIEF’S POV***
“I’m sorry my friend.”
I sent out an apology as I looked at the five corpses of King Apes that I received from Maeda-sama in return.
