I was awoken by the clamoring of guards. I knew that they found out about the prisoner escaping last night. I really was tired from all the excitement yesterday and only wanted to sleep some more. It had barely been an hour since I went to sleep.

“My bride, go back to sleep. I will keep everyone away.”

Since Fulgy said so, I will oblige. I put a soundproofing barrier and went back to sleep. I decided to sleep until the next day and avoid all this commotion. Sadly, the plans changed even before I could enter dreamland. Vitou barged in and upon seeing me in bed with Fulgy, he flew into rage and literally grabbed my waist dragging me out of bed.

“You stupid lizard, how dare you climb onto her bed while she’s still asleep!”

He used wind magic and pushed Fulgy out of the window, but at the same time he also received a lightning strike which he had to defend against.

“Of course I dare. She is my bride and it is only natural that we share the same bed.”

As he said that he flew towards Vitou and tried to grab me and take me away. I could feel the hostility and possessiveness from both of them. I swear, I could see sparks appearing between them. As they kept fighting I stood between them being tossed around. It didn’t take long for my fuse to burn out.

“ENOUGH! STOP THIS INSTANT!”

My yell was accompanied with the full might of my power. All I wanted to do was sleep away the rest of the day, but these two just had to go off and ruin everything.

“Nao-chan…”

“My bride, I…”

“Shut up both of you. Kneel down immediately! Until I give you permission, you are not allowed to get up.”

Under my coercion, both of them went down to their knees. I saw that the two of them were unhappy being next to each other, but right now neither of them had the guts to complain.

The commotion in the room caught the attention of the guards and maid working in the castle and soon a crowd was gathered in front of my room. They could see the situation inside, but nobody dared to enter. It was only when Daisuke and Taichi arrived that the crowd dispersed. However, from this day a rumor spread about the Crown Prince of Elicia being a henpecked husband that can’t go against his wife.

“Do you know your mistakes?”

I glanced at the two of them. They kept silent this entire time. It was only thanks to the heroes that nobody was disturbing us at this time.

“Nao-chan, I was too impulsive, but I cannot allow another man to take advantage of you. You are after all my fiancée, how can another man get so close to you?”

“My bride, I shouldn’t have reacted so strongly, but this bastard dared to touch you. I never said anything about your engagement to him since you are always so opposed, but I will not tolerate him taking liberties with you in front of me.”

“It seems to me you still haven’t repented enough. Until I come back, don’t bother leaving this spot. Daphira, keep a watch over them. If they dare to stand up, I don’t mind you teaching them a lesson or two.”

Daphira had been staying in my room this entire time. She flew to the two kneeling and agreed to my request, even though she wasn’t summoned by me this time around. I left the room and brought along Daisuke and Taichi to ask them about the situation at hand.

“You two, what happened that made Vitou barge into my room?”

“Naoko, the King called for you and Vitou to come to the throne room. He said it was urgent that you should come immediately. We were sent to gather information about the commotion and that is why we were late to arrive.”

“Go and bring both of them. If the King summoned us, I can’t let him wait too long.”

He should count himself lucky he got away this time around. If the King didn’t summon both of us, I wouldn’t let him off so easily. I didn’t bother waiting for him and entered the throne room alone.

“Duchess Maeda Naoko of Elicia greets His Majesty the King. I am sorry for making the King wait so long.”

“I have heard about the commotion, shall we discuss it at a later date?”

I saw a hint of fear when he spoke to me. I don’t know where that fear came from, but I certainly didn’t mind it. It is better this way than having him look down on me or disrespect me.

“There is no need, Vitou will be here any moment. I apologize for making a ruckus like that.”

“There is no need to apologize. It is normal to have some quarrels from time to time.”

He didn’t bother keeping up the small talk, we just waited for Vitou to arrive. When he entered the room he looked as dignified as ever, but when standing next to me, he lost a few points of dignity. After greeting the King he didn’t say anything else, nor did he bother to say anything to me.

“Vitou, Naoko, I have called you today to allow you to present the invitation to your wedding as well as give you a gift congratulating you on your engagement. It is after all a happy event for the two of you and our Royal Family should express it. Come forth and present the invitation.”

When I heard his words I couldn’t help but frown. Such words really paid no respect to us. Yet, compared to me, Vitou’s expressions can only be described as disgusted. I could understand why he acted like this. Even if I didn’t want to marry Vitou, such blatant disrespect is not something I can tolerate. Especially now that I know the meaning behind this presentation.
