I looked around the messy study and the bewildered heroes. From the worried sight of Vitou, without any anger, I knew that I wasn’t late.

Before I got here, I was studying all the new magic that was unlocked alongside Archduke when he mentioned that old magic I set up might have weakened or even broken. At first I wasn’t too worried, but then I remembered about the restrictions I put on the Heroes and immediately started panicking.

I had just figured out how to set up a portal that can be used to teleport me to a certain location, so without even saying goodbye, I created one that would bring me to Vitou and jumped in. What I didn’t think is that the experience would be so unpleasant and the portal would be so unstable. As soon as I was out, the portal shattered and I couldn’t help but puke out my lunch from the past three days.

“Nao-chan, are you really fine? Nobody attacked you? Do you want me to call a doctor for you?”

“Vitou, thank you for your concern, but I am really fine. This is just a side-effect of using magic unskillfully. Trust me. Do you think I would let anyone bully me into this state?”

He looked at the skeptically and didn’t calm down until he ordered someone to bring me water and some dry crackers. It was only when he saw me eating that he relaxed.

“Just before you arrived, Ishikawa and Nakamura told me something had happened to you. You placed a certain magic on them and then it disappeared. Why did you do that?”

“I was with the Archduke, I don’t know what triggered it. Maybe they resolved it on their own. After all, they are the strongest ones among all the heroes right now.”

I shot a glance at the two and exerted my pressure to warn them. They better not say a word about me being a dungeon master. I might have used too much power because both of them shivered and dropped the paper that they were holding.

“Oh yeah, why did you do that? Are you hiding something? You two, what was it that you were saying earlier?”

“Your Highness…”

Nakamura was about to speak, but with one glare from me, he shut up and lowered his head. Vitou was about to pressure him some more, but he gathered his courage and spoke up again.

“It’s best for Naoko-san to tell you herself. After all, this is her secret. Besides, I treasure my life too much. Please punish me later on for disobedience.”

I smiled in satisfaction. After this, I will make sure to reapply the restriction on all the heroes. Tomorrow will be a good day to achieve that, since I will be travelling with all of them to the Sunset Islands. I just have to ensure that the duo doesn’t say anything until then.

“So are you going to tell me your secret, Nao-chan? I really want to know what is the big deal that you had to hide it so much.”

“Ask me again after the wedding day and I will tell you. For now, it will still be a secret.”

He pouted which made him look cute for a change and couldn’t help but smile and giggle at his expression. I wanted to help him put the document in order but he firmly objected and made me stay sitting until I finished eating all the crackers.

“Nao-chan, stay at the castle tonight. I don’t feel at ease leaving you outside. There was too much stuff going on today. I don’t want you running around tonight.”

“Fine, my room was demolished, so I was planning on sleeping here. I will go now. Since you don’t want me to help you out, I might as well go to sleep. I am tired. You are right about one thing. I really had a lot of things happen to me today.”

“Wait, I will escort you to your room.”

I glanced at Ishikawa and Nakamura warning them once again. Then, just to make sure I put a simple spell that would prevent them from uttering words Dungeon Master. It wasn’t as strong as a real restriction, but it should do the job until tomorrow.

The two of us walked through the castle halls in silence. I could feel his nervousness as he was next to me. He seemed like he wanted to speak, but he didn’t dare for some reason. We were almost at my room, but he still hadn’t spoken up. Finally, I was the one that broke the silence.

“Just spit it out. What’s making you so nervous? Are we that much of strangers?”

“Are you really so against marriage with me? Am I so bad that you want to escape at every corner?”

I was stunned. I didn’t think that he would ask this question. But it made sense. I don’t think he would be nervous to ask about anything else. I knew that my constant rejections had a huge impact on his self-confidence.

“I am a person that does not wish to marry. You are not a bad catch; tall, handsome and rich. You are every girl’s dream. Even I can appreciate you.”

“Then why..”

“For me; it is because I never plan on being tied down. I won’t hide it from you, I like staring at handsome guys, you as well, but I never plan on settling down. Least of all places the royal family. If our circumstances were different, I wouldn’t mind having a fling with you, but even then I wouldn’t want to marry you. That is why you should let go of any affection that you have for me. Go and find someone that will treasure you. But for now, I will play the role of your fiancée. I will also show up on the day of our wedding, but I will never be your wife.”

“Nao-chan, sometimes I really wish I was not a Crown Prince.”

I saw his self-deprecating smile and couldn’t help but feel a pang of pain. I knew that I was hurting him badly, but this is the best way. Once I leave Elicia, it would be easier for him to let go of me.

“Good night, Crown Prince Vitou.”
