CHAPTER 61 – THE LOST DAY: NAKAMURA DAISUKE
“Eh, Blink-san is part of the royal family? I had no idea! I can’t believe I acted so improper in front of him. It’s horrible.”
“No, Maeda-san, the real deal started from that moment on. Also with Blink-san, he’s only an illegitimate son of the king, if you can, don’t mention him at the castle. Anyways, to continue on; since you don’t remember, you are not aware just how imposing you look when your personality changes.”
“Oh no, what did I do?”
—
I was already tired, but why was it that more and more people were coming by with every passing moment? And instead of feeling exhausted, they became more excited? Half an hour ago you could still walk normally, now everything is crowded it’s almost like a night club.
“Finally things are starting up. Your Highness, thank you for sending out a notice about this and declaring a national holiday tomorrow, I can already see you being a great ruler. Everyone let’s toast to our Crown Prince. CHEERS!”
Huh? When did he do that? More importantly how did she know about it in the first place? She never left this place.
“Oh, you’re quite observant; it should have just been signaled. Now we can enjoy to the fullest. But first may I ask for a dance? The music is here and it will be a sad thing to miss such an opportunity.”
“I am honored”
Now that was a sight to behold, The Crown Prince and Maeda-san both had great charisma and once you lay your eyes on them you couldn’t look away. The music wasn’t a waltz or any other ball dance type, but the grace with which they danced was magnificent. It didn’t take long for an area to open up for them and several other couples soon joined them.
“They look so pretty.”
“Imagine if they get married? She would turn into a Queen. A real Queen, how lovely.”
Holy smokes, the country would turn to ruin if that demon stepped onto the throne. What is Prince thinking dancing like that? I saw him in court listening to her testimony, so he must know just how strong she is and how dangerous she can be. Did the king order him to pull her in on their side, because she is so strong? If that is the case then I can see it.
“I told Vitou that this was a bad idea but my nephew just won’t listen, even my brother
the King didn’t do anything and happily agreed to this ridiculous plan. I don’t get it, she’s the type best left alone.”
“Edward, you are the youngest sibling so it is no wonder he doesn’t heed your advice, but for once I completely agree with you. Even back in Orzak I heard often about her. Those that went against her never ended up well. Also, her strength right now is way beyond what heroes can cope with.”
“Is that true Toriwa?”
“I personally saw her status after she cleared out that monster stampede. I don’t know what she did, but such numbers do not belong to someone that lived a sheltered life. If she were a couple years older I don’t see anyone other than the Black King rivaling her. Just thinking about her taking out those monsters makes me uncomfortable. And although it made her nauseous and horrible she did take out so many in mere minutes. I cannot do that even if I go all out.”
I was astonished upon hearing what they were talking about. As a magician myself, I was certain I could cast a strong AoE attack, but to take out two thousand monsters in mere minutes, I don’t think that was possible. I would run out of mana.
“What kind of magic it was? I mean, how did they die? The convict you brought only mentioned horrible death, but that doesn’t tell me anything.”
“Oh, Daisuke-kun, you’re our strongest magician, maybe you can give us some clue. Toriwa you weren’t here when the heroes arrived but this young man had aptitude for five major elements. Maybe he can shed some light on that mystery.”
“Is that so? Well they did die in terrible manner but the problem was I couldn’t see anything unusual happen. One moment they were running normally and the next they began twitching and looked like in terrible agony. Maeda-san did warn the rest of us not to approach her designated area, unless we wished to die. She also didn’t approach it, so I assume it was some sort of magic that affects the area and space around it.”
A magic that affects the space? Isn’t that how all magic works? But their view of magic is different and that is why it is so weak compared to ours.
“So you mean to say, she created a set area with something that would be akin to having a place that is much hotter than its surroundings. Like an invisible cage or a room?”
“Exactly as you said. Just what you expected from a man Edward praised. But this was more than raising the temperature. That area kept giving me the chills. But the worst thing was the silence. No matter what pain monsters were experiencing, there was not a single cry coming from them. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I could hear a single thing from that area.”
“Such magic existed? Just what did that girl do?”
No sound, twitching in pain? Could she have created vacuum? That is a brilliant idea, if somebody entered a place with negative pressure their lungs would collapse, they would be unable to breath and much more. I immediately tried to create such small space above my palm, but failed due to severe lack of mana.
“To think of doing that, how terrifying yet also brilliant. I don’t think I would be able to copy it.”
“You know what she did?!”
“Yeah… I’m pretty sure I do. She must have removed all the air, dust and particles within the area, creating extremely low pressure. If you entered your lungs would fail and you wouldn’t be able to breathe. I just tried to make a tiny area, but couldn’t do it. Too little mana. My affinity is still too low.”
The two nobles looked at me puzzled, well I don’t expect them to understand physics, but I didn’t plan on elaborating further. All they need to know is that it was dangerous. I reallynwanted to experiment with such use of magic and theory that is needed to remove an element instead of creating it, but the words that Crown Prince said next made me freeze in place as well as the rest of the crowd present.
“Maeda Naoko, from the moment that I saw you I realized you were special, unique and different. Would you do me the honor of becoming my wife.”
WHAAT!!!
